If anybody else is out tonight and see's a group of Nav lights close together it will most probably be us . Will have our radios tunned into channel 6 incase anybody else is about. Hopefuly will have a catch report to post tomorrow and a few more species
  2. Good to see you on here Paul Welcome to PBSBAC I thought you might be a bit busy this week with getting things ready for the kayak Tourney in Florida. I am sure your all going to have a nice time over there
  3. Or you got the choice of another kayak Graham
  4. Hiya Tom. The fish had a line of raised hard bumps on its head which I think a plaice has.I have had some of those flounders with red blotches before and mistook them for plaice Here are a couple of better pictures of the fish. It certainly tasted nice though

  6. Oh, forgot to add in the report....On the Tuesday we had a nice display by a pod of Dolphins for about an hour. They started near Poole patch then made their way slowly across the bay towards Bournemouth Pier.We could see where they were by the ammount of gulls flying above them.I was tempted to up anchor and paddle over for some photo's but I think I would have been playing catch up all the time
  7. I am working this weekend James My days off are Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
  8. Report 1. As I had just finished my set of Nights at work and the weather looked good it would have been rude not to make the most of days off ;D Yesterday I got up early(4.30 am) and made my way down to Durley chine. The conditions looked perfect for fishing Durley Rock,a light North wind and no surf. Got to the rock and found a pot buoy to tie my yak off too.I had a bucket full of groundbait which consisted of 5 mackerel, loads of sandeels, and 5 or six squid all liquidized up then a load of boiled rice added to firm it up.I had a big barbel swimfeeder connected to my shrimp rig and a 2oz lead below that.I loaded up the feeder left the top off and lowered down the 30 feet till it hit bottom.Gave it a good tug and watched the contents spill out on my fish finder. At least I could see the feeder working properly ;D Then sat back and waited, and waited and waited.30 minutes had passed and not a touch on my baited shrimp rigs The North wind had picked up a bit by now,so I moved to another pot and tried again.Still nothing. So out with my second rod baited up with worm.I dont think it even hit the bottom before I had my first bite. Up with fish number 1.A tiny Wrasse ;D Had a few more bites then even the wrasse stopped feeding. I had been out on the water for 4 hours by now and my ass was dead sat in the same position :-/ Heard a shout from behind me and turned round to see Mike (Milo) Paddling over to me. He tied off to a pot Buoy about 50 yards from me. Sat it out for another bite less hour and moved to the great big yellow pipe buoy and tied off to it,Mike came over and tied of to the bow of my kayak. I had one more wrasse and Mike lost a good fish. Decided to call it a day at around 12.30 pm,paddled back to shore and had a chat and coffee. Still no Bream yet.The Netter that paddles out from Durley Chine has had a few small Bream in his nets the last few days but nothing much 2nd Report (Today) Got up this morning looked out the window and decided to use the rest of the worms I had left over from yesterday. It was a later start as Low tide in Poole Harbor was at about 9.30 am. Got to evening Hill car park and took my time setting up as the tide was still way out. After about an hour the water had made enough for me to launch. First spot was to Try the fuel Barge and drift up towards the Shell factory,The wind was pushing me towards Brownsea all the time so I had to deploy my Drouge which kept my drift right. Plenty of weed on the run through and no bites. So next stop was to tie off to a mooring Buoy at the end of Brownsea.Still loads of weed. Then decided to paddle against the tide and head over to a small fishing boat the was near Aunt Bessie Buoy. They had 2 plaice on board. I decided to have a few drifts on the edge of the main shipping channel.About 10 minutes into my Drift I had a tug and the rod went solid.Thought I had a big bit of weed on until I felt the thumping of a fish. Managed this little beauty ;D Unhooked the plaice then paddled back to the start of my drift. A few more minutes passed and I had another fish on.That one jumped the hook at the last minute. But it was only a small plaice. Now the tide had eased off and the bites dried up. So it was time to paddle back to Evening Hill and pack up. Well 2 Lovely days on the water a nice sized Plaice and a very burnt face to show for it ;D ;D
  9. Looks like you all had a good time up there this weekend I cant believe how calm it looked. Not even the 10 foot breakers to contend with at the river entrance Your sure racking up the species now James Nice report and pics.

  14. Thanks for that Rob. I have a GPS so can get the co-ordinates ok,and I always have my radio with me. I didnt hear anybody on channel 6 yesterday. But could see a few boats out towards Southbourne rough. A few charter boats were drifting in close to Bournemouth pier and alot of nets out.Starting from about 200 yards off Durley
  15. Cheers Dave. Yes I use the trip method with small cable ties,I felt it trip but think the chain must have got caught between the rocks. I tried for about 5 minutes and nearly went over twice so decided to cut the cord. Next time I will use the Bridle system with no chain, just feed out more cord.
  16. After watching the weather forecast all week decided to have a go today, seeing as tomorrow and the rest of the week is meant to be windy. I arranged to meet YemaKram(Mark) at Durley Chine at around 8am.I got there at around 6.30ish to get ready seeing as it takes me a good hour to sort things out ;D Took a few early pics as it looked ideal for fishing. The wind was blowing about a force 4 N/W (offshore breeze) and the sun was shining. Around 7.30am Maver popped down to see us launch.I had everything ready for once....or so I thought....Dam forgot the bait :.So it was a journey home whilst Maver and Yemakram looked after my gear. 25 minutes later and I was back and raring to go ;D. Maver went back to his car and pulled out a camera muttering something like...Revenge is sweet ;D ;D Mark was first out,Maver was at the waters edge waiting for a new member of the Durley Surf Club. But it didn't happen, nearly happened though ;D It looked calm out at sea but a few big breakers were appearing every now and then. I managed to time it right and took a big breaker over the Bow but stayed on By now the wind had started to come more from the West and was making it a tad lumpy at sea We got just over Durley rock and dropped anchor, let out loads of warp so we would be over the rough ground.Baited up 2 rods and waited...and waited....and waited. Not a sniff of a Bream. So I up anchored and put myself right on top of a really rough patch.Nothing there either Mark got a photo of me messing about with my fishfinder Stuck it out for another 10 minutes then Mark decided to head in as the lumpy water was affecting him.I chose to go back in as well as it was not happening. So in with the rods and up with the anchor.....%&****
  17. A belated Happy Birthday Lads

  20. Hiya Graham. I use a divers video/camera on my kayak. It can be used at depths of 10 meters or less.I got it from Tescos for
  21. Just heard from a kayaking friend who works for Johnsons outdoors and he said the Fish finder/electronic side of the company has now been sold to an Italian company.Johnsons want to deal just with the kayak and equipment side of the buissines. Rob.I like the fish finder read out done in Orange/Red,the structures stand out alot better
  22. This is the company I used. They have all different fish finders. You might find them cheeper elsewhere though.Avoid the ones on Ebay which are imports from the states.I think there is an issue with any unit brought from the US.Its not EU certified and may not work.Or so I been told http://www.mynewcheap.co.uk/products/marin...s/fish-finders/
  23. Hiya Colin. I dont know if these pictures are any good to you. They were taken from my friends kayak. He has the humminbird side imaging unit. This one is showing the left and right view.Turn the picture on its side so the black(dark)part of the picture is at the top of your screen. The dark part is the water and the light bit is the lay of the ocean bottom. Sonar view and side imaging view Sonar view taken of the reef at Blue anchor Bay(Minehead) along with the side image of the same spot. The last picture is from the user manual of the humminbird unit.Showing how clear it picks out a tree at the bottom of a lake.
  24. Glad you all enjoyed yourselves today, you were in good hands there Adam As long as you are kitted out for a dunking you will be fine on a kayak. The paddling is the easiest part its the constant explaining to your wife/partner why you are late home and the new excuse's you have to think up to get out on the water which is the hard part
  25. Hook sands are a good place for a play in the surf.Excellent when a large ship goes through the main channel and pushes the wash across the sands
