Im sure you could flog a few at the next club meeting if you bring them along Cheers PJ Thanks alot Paul Here is how it is being done on Anglers Afloat. here is what Ian (moonfleet) wrote..... Tubertini Dorado, 2.40m rated for 20/40g The rod on it's own is a pretty tidy item, but this one has some interesting graphics on the case. We basically wanted to get the case signed, but I was pretty determined to have it signed by people with a direct link to the military and more importantly people who have actually been and had some in a combat role (I did not want celebs) First of it went to RNAS Yeovilton where their CO Brigadier M J D Noble Royal Marines has signed it himself, This guy has some serious credentials and is the first RM to be commanding officer of a naval air station. So this is what we do !!!! Tickets are

Well this looks like it is going to be BIG. It only started off as a basic meet like last year but has really grown. Now we have Bournemouth canoes attending along with the demo fleet from Johnsons outdoors.Ian (moonfleet) with his rigs and also his rod which is in the raffle in aid of Help for Heroes. John and myself are discussing food for the day,BBQ and hot drinks(that needs to be finalized in the next day or so).All proceeds from the day going to Help for heroes John is going to see if he can get some Help for Heroes banners.I have to get hold of the local echo and Heart FM radio. I think this is going to be an excellent meet/Demo day with alot of new faces attending and old faces to share their knowledge Looks like I wont be fishing on the day. Will be too busy with other stuff in the car park. But there will be plenty of local anglers/kayakers to show visitors to the area where the hot spots are Many thanks for the help which people are offering. Ian(Moonfleet)who makes rigs and has his own website has written the following. "Hope I am in the right section and am allowed to mewntion this? I have a Tubertini rod in a hard carry case that is being auctioned for the help for heroes charity. On Monday I take it to Salisbbury to have the Parachute regiments display team sign it (obviously the best regiment in the world ) we will have Bryn Parry, the founder of H4H sign it also plus personell from the Navy and RAF (subject to writing skills)" If any PBSBAC would like any raffle tickets just say and I will send details. They are

I will find out for you Bob. Failing that I know a few people that have 2 kayaks. They might be willing to take one down for you to use I have looked at buying one since the demo, but cant see any at the sort of price the guy mentioned ...... Do you know of any of your Kayak guys looking to sell one maybe? If you register on Anglers afloat we have a for sale section on there.Alot of kayaks are sold on the site. Here is the link. Its free to register. http://www.anglersafloat.co.uk/index.html Now would be the best time to buy. They seem to go for alot more in the spring and summer.

I have arranged a Flounder meet for the Anglers Afloat crew. This will be taking place at Rockly(Poole harbor) on the 5th of December. Last year we had nearly 40 kayaks turn up.This year I think that will be beaten The plan is to launch at Rockley(Lake pier) and fish around Holton mere area until about lunchtime. Then for the ones that want to try out other kayaks a social meet will take place to meet old and new members. Snapper(Mark) from Johnson Outdoors will be bringing a demo fleet of kayaks with him.Including the Torque kayak(Rigged with a motor) and I think also Bournemouth Canoes will be there. The demo kayaks are for anyone to try out and all people in the PBSBAC are welcome to come along and try some out. All you need is a drysuit. There will be plenty of PFD's you can borrow. I think the social meet will be around 12.30 -1pm ish. I know a few members have shown an interest in kayaks,so heres your chance to try a few different models

Ben(Seagypsy) went fishing a couple of weeks back with 2 of his kayaking friends. One of his friends who goes by the name of Mullethunter(Steve who is a forum member on this site) capsized and lost alot of gear, including a rod.He didnt have it leashed down.I think it was near Brownsea island. Here is the report and the list of stuff he lost.Looks like it was a barbel rod and baitrunner reel. Well, 3 of us: Simon"Milesfromthesea" (all the way from Oxfordshire), Ben"Seagypsy" and myself met up for for what was supposed to be a leisurely trip out around Poole Harbour going with the tides looking for early flounder around Hamworthy and Bass near the entrance. First little hiccup: the wind a chilly N/E and me in a summer wetsuit. I had, in my wisdom, thought that the weather and water temp would still be warm enough. Wrong! the wind blew straight through and my feet were wet and cold all day long (and this was going to be a fairly long day, 12.00 till approx 21.00). Launch at Lake pier was uneventful and we paddled down a little way to anchor off ( Ben and Simon both had little hiccups dragging their anchors a little) from the Marine camp. Just the obligatory shore crabs showing after missing one of only 2 bites I had all day , so off we went for a paddle with the out going tide and wind behind us "ish" across to the other side of the harbour to drift fish one of the lower channels (cant think of the name of it right now). Got to the intended spot only to find it very difficult to fish a drift as the breeze was blowing us sideways across the flow (no good whatsoever). Ben did manage to catch a strange looking dog turd shaped mollusc that squirted water when viciously squeezed by him. Got down to the area south of Brownsea Island to find the water very shallow but very pleasant out of the wind in the lea of the island. Ben is a good bloke, but even more so when he suggests things like "why don't we pull up on Stone Island and I'll get the burner on and cook us all some sausages". When we got there Simon and I put a rod out while Ben got the food on. The sausages in rolls with onions and tomato sauce were blinding. Something about alfresco dining that I always find a bit special; must be the old hunter/gatherer in me. While this was all going on Simon picked up his first yak caught fish, a small bass. Well done! The tide was now stating to make fairly fast, so time to up sticks and and head out towards the main flow with the intention of anchoring on the edge of the main channel off Brownsea Castle. This is when it all started to go a bit "Pete Tong". First thing; my left hand front seat clip just snapped clean off as I was pushing hard into the current to get round the island, making paddling very awkward. Next and most foolishly, in my haste to get the anchor down before I was too far off the channel I dropped it down amidships on the side of the yak away from the flow. Almost immediately the warp went under the boat, I panicked a little and instead of just letting go I tried to wrestle the anchor trolley to the front. Unfortunately it was extremely difficult to brace properly with the insecure seat. I must have slipped a bit because the next thing I remember was, the yak being swamped on the right buy the full force of the Poole Harbour flood. within 1/2 a second I was in the drink, thinking "how the fook" did that happen and those guys on the shore must be thinking what a d*ck! Now comes the moral of the story. Earlier this summer I spent the best

The RNLI should have produced a bill and given it to them. That would have changed their minds. There is no pleasing some people

Thanks for the input lads. I will get a card for it at a later date.(After xmas) but till then I will just study my Blue Charts on the pc and get the co-ordinates then enter it into the Gps. It would be nice to have that sort of info whilst I am fishing though. Charlie,..We travel round a fair bit,Cornwal,Wales and the East coast, but I want it really for our local areas and the Isle of wight marks. I have also got a tidal programme on my PC which I use. Dave. Thanks for the offer,I will take you up on that in a few weeks if thats ok with you. I have just fitted my mounting bracket for the F/F today. It took a bit of working out as we are limited on the kayak and I didnt want it to get in the way. So this is how I overcame the problem. I went down the front cup holder route and used Fascia board instead of chopping board. Here is what I did. Cut a load of disc's out of the fascia board and drilled a hole all the way through them to thread the power/transducer cable. Also drill a hole through the bottom of the cup holder. Then cut 2 bits of fascia and bolt the mounting bracket on and cut round it to tidy up. Then drop the disc's into the cup holder 1 at a time and seal each one with sikaflex plus fill the hole with the cables running through. Finally screw a 6" screw all the way through the disc's and through the bottom of the cup holder(backing plate on the underneath of cupholder). Then leave to set. Gone down the Sikaflex route to fit the transducer. All thats left to do is test it ;D

Excellent evening, good weather and sea conditions. It was good to meet you for the first time John and to meet up with you again Clive. Just finished preparing my 2 squid for tonights dinner We will have to all meet up again soon.Maybe a day session to coincide with an incoming tide. Just a couple of pics of my squid.I forgot my camera last night so just took a couple ;D Charlie. We seemed to have more takes just before dark and on the incoming tide.So going to try a day session next time to see which fishes best. I made the beer batter mix as written by Alun in the recipe thread. It was excellent

Just a quick introduction as a new member but not so new to the forums My name is Mark and I have been a keen angler for many years.I think it got to a point of not catching much from the shore that made me decide to get a kayak.I have never looked back since. My catch rate has improved about 90%, but its just the enjoyment of paddling round our coastline taking in the scenery. I hope to see some of you out on the water sometime,I excpect we have passed in the last few years Anyway I look forward to meeting some of you on Thursday night. P.S......If anybody has any good marks for cod in range for a kayak please pm me . I should be getting my new fishfinder/chartplotter/gps combo this week Tight lines. Mark

I agree, I am sure we could get it upstairs , with teh Clubs permission of course Charlie Getting a kayak up a set of stairs is ok.But it depends on how tight the cornering is! A friend told me once you get in the club you do a left and go up the stairs.Do you think it would be ok to get a 14.5 foot kayak round? (without bending it)
-
Yes.I have told my other half I will be out Thursday Night Thanks for the welcome into the club

Oooooops. Sorry Martin I think I just jumped the gun a bit too and paid for membership. Was I meant to fill out an application form first? And then the application goes infront of a commitee?
