Welcome Steve L. Good luck with your new boating experiences, dont forget to get some training before you set off . The club will give you good advice. Have a safety check and get a vhf license. Enjoy.
  2. My garmin is available, its complete with the transducer and bracket, 2 years old type 551s.
  3. Yes even cheaper.
  4. There is a syphon available from most chandlery shops which is basically a plastic tube with a ball bearing in a fixed metal ferrule, drop it into the jerry can, lift it up and down the petrol or diesel flows briskly into your tank. No charging, no power and easy to store about a tenner. Had one for three years still working perfectly.
  5. Have a great day, best wishes Mal and Laura

    Battery

Morning Mick saw the funny side of Sparky needing a new Battery, but it probably will be costly, post the outcome as I suspect it wont be long before Sweet Pea wants some new ones.
  15. Funny, I thought I saw one of the dark arts men being sin binned, perhaps this had an effect on the result

  19. Only the truth spoken in that speech as far as can see, here here. The problem as I see it has taken 50 years to get in this state how do you undo that lot.

Hi Graham the info I gave you was straight from my identity plate which is mounted on the port side stern. My understanding is that the transom has to be strong enough to cope with the thrust/ push of the engine, along with many other factors. I am sure all this should have been checked by your fitter. Would you be so kind as to invite me down for a quick blast when all sorted I would be very interested in the results. Cheers Mal.

Hi Graham Have you done the deed and bought it? I have a 640 pilothouse like yours, Im based at ribs marine Christchurch. Have you spoken with Simon there who is the main agent for Quicksilver. By the way like you I have toyed with changing the engine, I have a 115 mariner 4 stroke. I have done a lot of research and the best weight to power ratio is the yamaha by far, on average the yam is 40 kilos lighter which is huge on the handling and fuel consumption and a quieter engine with better security and user dials. By the way your boat is only recommended for 115hp 85kw so you would have to notify your insurance.
