  5. Welcome Dave to a great club a reely good move.
  6. Most popular sight on saturday was boats trying to anchor from 35ft yatchs to small speed boats with tangled blue poly rope drifting back to other boats, What is it with yachties who think a vertical chain should hold them. The marines didnt set a very good example when they weaved between boats doing at least 15 knots creating plenty of wash.
  7. Nice job, how did you join the upstands to the base?

    Alderney 2013

    Awesome vid really enjoyed it.
  23. Taking advantage of some good weather, I promised the missus some bream for tea. Could I come up with the goods or would it be a tale of woe and a lost anchor? Looking out to the ledge, two boats out there. Would they be on my mark? Not quite, thankfully. Dropped the anchor and put on my newly tied rig, small hooks and tiny pieces of squid lowered down.No action on the charter boat, was I wasting my time? Thinking about what to do with the other rod my attention was drawn to my rod bent over in the rod holder. A cracking 2lb plus male bream was on board. Wow... that was quick. How lucky am I? Within the next twenty minutes another three on board. The following half a dozen were all returned. What a trip! Mission accomplished. Happy to go in with a feeling of satisfaction. Within two hours we were dining on lovely fresh bream. That's how fishing used to be.
  24. Sorry i didnt make the last meeting to collect my penant, had the urge for an evening trip, I would be happy to pay for it to be posted if thats an option. many thanks.
  25. Visibility was down to 150 yards at times, but nothing was going to stop our day's fishing. My brother had made the trip from Egham Surrey; it was his first trip of the season and what a good trip it turned out to be. We started the day with a 10lb 4oz thornback. I thought we peaked too early in the day. Is the day going to be a long day waiting for some more excitement? We didn't have to wait much longer before we had small eyed and thornies averaging 6-8lb. The boat seemed to take an age to turn on the flood. During the tides we had a small starry smooth hound and a 2lb 5oz doggie. My brother then dropped something sizeable, the witching hour was upon us and expectation was running high. A double hook-up was to follow and the landing net was out of reach, oh sh*!. I reached for the net when I saw my fish.Landing it myself, it wouldn't fit in the net. Two goes at it; done the job. Small hooks, light lines and a quiver tip rod had my pulse racing a bit. I've seen a fish like this last year that won me some prizes, so I was eager to get it on the scales. A 14lb 4oz thornie was the result. I managed to slip the net under Trevor's small eyed 6lb ray for him. A dozen rays caught and all released. The final lift produced the biggest edible crab I've seen caught on a hook, so Trev took him for the missus. Two very happy Anglers were rewarded for our conservation when Niggle returned from Alderney and kindly gave us some Pollack. Cheers Niggle and congratulations on your 25th wedding anniversary tomorrow.
