  2. Thank you for your kind comments guys. Sorry if I didn't get to speak with you all Yesterday evening as I, at one stage was sinking fast. Luckily our Club treasurer Brian and his wife Diane came to my rescue. I have to say we were really impressed with the behaviour of the kids and in such a confined space and how well they all got on, young and old. I have really enjoyed the whole experience of organising the Junior Comp right from the fund raising, dealing with the committee members, liasing with the skippers, seeing the juniors fishing and above all seeing all of them and their parents at the Presentation and the smiles on the kids faces when receiving their trophies and prizes. So thank you to everyone's support in the process and I agree with the sentiment expressed: What a great club Greg. (PS I would be grateful if parents can post me their Juniors Fishing pictures so that I can select a few for the review - Thanks)
  3. Happy Birthday Allan Thanks again for the takle prizes for the Junior Comp. that went down very well. Your'e a top bloke Greg
  4. Hi All Well the weather is finally playing ball and it's great to see the Promo is finally going ahead. Everything is now ready for the presentation and don't forget all Score Sheets and Photos and Weights of Specimens need to be handed in at the BBQ by 5.45 PM. The BBQ starts at 5.30PM. Tomorrow should see some great competitive fishing with everything still to play for. I shall be on Channel 6 so just report in as usual. Good luck to all the Juniors and remember it's the taking part that counts!!!!. Greg.
  5. That's a real shame you can not make the Presentation Mal it is going to be a great event, you are a key player in keeping us all safe. Thank you. By running this comp I can now appreciate what an important role the safety officer plays behind the scenes. Cheers, Greg
  6. Thanks Charlie In Tescs right now shopping for bbq!!!! Greg
  7. Hi Charlie, Unfortunately, due to tides on Sunday and the bridge lift sequence from cobbs a couple of boats will not be able to make that time, so we will keep the start time the same as usual at 9.30AM. As Adams has stated, the weather looks good at the moment for the whole day. Thanks, Greg

Martin Would it be Okay for me to bring Brad along to the meeting as we bought him a GoPro for his Birthday this Summer and he would benefit greatly from Adam's talk and editing details? Greg
  9. Hi Brian At my house 197 Sandy Lane at 5.30PM Cheers Greg
  10. Hi All Well the final leg of the Junior comp is finally upon us this Sunday. Here is the list of boats and juniors who will be taking part:- Marlin - Bradley Toms Alfresco - Jayden Wald and Jack Chapman Joint Venture 2- Reuben & Isla Franklin, Olivia Francis, Dom and Sam Annear Kingfisher - Blake Witheford, Emma and Amy Simpson Wishing Too -Curtis and Sophie Driver Reel Bizzy - Jacob Givens Maverick - Daniel Burt With so many Juniors attending I really hope the weather plays ball!! Should in the unlikely event of the comp being weathered off the presentation will still go ahead as planned. I am hoping that due to very little tide movement this Sunday, wind over tide should not be too much of a problem which means we may be able to fish outside the harbour should the wind gusts be borderline. However, the ultimate decision as usual will lie with our Safety Officer. I will post the decision on Saturday PM as usual so watch this space. Fingers X Greg

Greg
  14. Hi all All fingers crossed for good weather on the final fishing leg on the 11th September both for the fishing and the BBQ presentation after. May I ask that all Junior's final score sheets and specimen details (including photos and weights) are submitted at the BBQ by 5.45PM. This will give myself and Brian Runyard time to total up the scores for the prize presentation shortly afterwards. Also, just another reminder for Yesterday's score sheets and the outstanding score sheets for 24th July to be sent to me ASAP so that I can publish the interim results to date. All Juniors will be receiving a prize and a trophy at the presentation. Therefore, if anyone is unable to attend the presentation, parents will be welcome to collect them from my house at a mutually convenient time. Good luck to all Juniors on the 11th. It's till all to play for. Greg
  15. Well done Ian, When I was asked early this year by the committee to help out and organise the Junior comp I agreed for the very reasons you have described in your report Ian. All of our kids deserve the chance to experience what all us members do on a regular basis and for you and Chris and your kids to achieve what you did today was nothing short of remarkable. To fish against the elements - driving drizzle, 20 knots gusts and choppy waters and to stick it out to the bitter end and to be able to make it enjoyable for the kids at the same time is amazing. Again, well done to you both. And thanks to Chris for being able to accommodate an additional family on his boat. I would also like to thank Charlie and Adam for donating their time and energy on what was clearly a difficult day. For the benefit of all Juniors can I ask for all score sheets both today's and the 24th July's day to be sent to me as soon as possible so that I can publish the interim results ahead of the final leg on 11th September. Also, details of all specimens caught and their photos and weights. It is important for the Juniors to see where they are placed in this interim period. Unfortunately, having a holiday and coming back to a demanding job between comps has put me behind in chasing these things up. (that's my excuse anyway). Well done again to all those who contributed and took part today and let's prey for better weather on the 11th September. Greg (PS I am still looking for a volunteer to be able to accommodate Curtis and Sophie Driver on the 11th September Leg, please contact me if anyone is able to help out - thanks)
  16. Hi Rob No, that restriction was lifted this year so you do not have to keep within a mile of my boat. Greg.
  17. Yes that is correct Charlie, the Chain Ferry inwards. However, Skippers will need to keep an eye on their exposure to the wind and their direction when drift fishing in the strong gusts if they choose to do so. I personally, will be seeking sheltered places where possible for Brad to fish. Cheers, Greg
  18. Hi All Due to the size of the wind gusts forecast for Tomorrow the Junior Fishing Competition will be restricted to Poole Harbour. I will be on Channel 6 from 09.00AM and would be grateful if everyone could report in as usual. There are some good fish being caught in the Harbour at the moment including, Triggers, Gilt Head Bream and some Specimen Plaice so there's plenty out there to keep the Juniors interested. Good luck everyone and I will see you tomorrow. Greg
  19. Thanks for the support Sam. Much appreciated. Greg
  20. Sorry Charlie In my haste last night in getting out the post I left off Jack's first name please find the amended list below. Marlin - Bradley Toms Alfresco - Jayden Wald and Jack Wald Joint Venture 2- Reuben & Isla Franklin, Olivia Francis, Dom and Sam Annear Kingfisher - Blake Witherford, Emma and Amy Simpson Solan - Charlotte and Chris Samways Boat? - Curtis and Sophie Driver Hey Rob, Guess who the Junior Comp Organiser baton will be passed to next year .................You will have my full support. Greg
  21. Thanks Rob Greg
  22. Hi all, As you will all be aware the second leg of the Junior Competition will take place this Sunday 28th August. below is a list of the Juniors and boats taking part. We do have a couple of Juniors - Curtis and Sophie Driver who are currently without a boat. If any member is able to help out this Sunday they would be very grateful. Marlin - Bradley Toms Alfresco - Jayden Wald and Wald Joint Venture 2- Reuben & Isla Franklin, Olivia Francis, Dom and Sam Annear Kingfisher - Blake Witherford, Emma and Amy Simpson Solan - Charlotte and Chris Samways Boat? - Curtis and Sophie Driver If their are any changes (or if I have missed anyone out) to this list please feel free to amend as necessary. With regards to the Power Boat Racing I have only seen dates for 1st - 4th September. I have been in contact with Poole Harbour Control and they have nothing in their diary for this weekend. The Power Boat Racing area is out of Poole Harbour Control's jurisdiction, however, they are normally notified of any racing taking place should support be required. Charlie is going to check the dates again tomorrow and if there is racing taking place then we will restrict the comp to the Harbour. Rob - The weather keeps changing day by day for Sunday. At the moment it is looking favourable. If it is not favourable, then we will restrict the comp to the Harbour. We have to do that because there are Juniors taking part who are not too great with choppy conditions and we have to make it fair for everyone. For your info' the fishing restriction is within a line from Old Harry Rocks taking in Poole Patch and then to Bournemouth Pier. We will not be venturing out of this Zone. As usual I will consult our Safety Officer on Saturday night and post an announcement accordingly. Remember the comp time is from 09.30AM to 3.00PM. Cheers Greg
  23. Cheers Charlie Greg
  24. Hi Charlie Thanks for joining in with the comp.I have already included Jack as Sam asked me to include him well before the deadline for entrants. I have asked for the score sheets to be sent to me after the first leg but to date I have only received about 50% of them. I do not intend publishing results after each leg of the competition as the rules state that only the best score need to be submitted on the 11th September or before if someone is not fishing the last leg. specimen fish caught must be recorded with a photo and the Junior. Again I have only received two specimens to date being Brad on Marlin and Charlotte of Solan. I must stress that If I do not receive the details as set out in the rules then There will be some very disappointed Juniors. I am currently on holiday and will be returning to Home on the 11th August. I will have a chase around then for those who have not submitted their details. Cheers Greg

    Sole

Graham As a tip, use Nordic bend hooks on your rig and your catch rate will increase. I have also found that dusk is the best time for catching sole. Greg
