  1. One of these ?
  2. Not according to Gordon
  3. Indeed Adam. I have actually got a HUGE piece of Ash which we pulled out of the sea on one trip out. It just fitted in the boat and had we hit it could have been interesting. ( Mind you hitting the Beerpan could have so easily had the same affect but fortunately Orkney's are quite strongly built ).
  4. Will keep track of who is going and on which boat here :- SATURDAY ======= Neo :- Me + another Gastronaught :- Alun J + another Enticer ( if needed ) Crew available :- Gordon H and Gordon Moore SUNDAY ===== Nipper :- Mark + Rich ( possibly ) + spare ( if needed ) Neo :- Paul D + another Splash-Out :- Bob F + another ( ps :- will try to remeber to bring gelcoat ) ?? <Fishing Boat of some sort ?> :- Adam + another Crew available :- Paul Jennings ( can do Saturday instead if needed ) If we fail to get enough crew we will need to move crew amongst boats. Any other takers ?
  5. LW is something like 4-30 / 5 PM in the evening. and 4AM in the morning, so will mean fishing the ebb On the up side, sounds familiar timings from when we last went Mark
  6. Have fishing permit for either Saturday, Sunday or both days maybe. Weather is looking good ( from last forecast I saw ). All I need now is some crew. Any takers for a trip from Lymington or Mudeford after some cod / whiting on the Needles ? Unfortunately, tide times not so good but got to be worth a go ??

It is because the gelcoat will not set whilst it is in contact with the air. If you dont have wax in the gelcoat then you have to cover the gelcoat with sticky tape to exclude the air. The gel will then harden. When moulding items the wax is not required as the mould excludes the air and the gel will set. When repairing or spreading gel on items outside then it will be in contact with the air, so by having wax in the gel it sits on the top and then excludes the air, allowing the gel to set. If applying multiple coats of gelcoat then only the last coat is the one with the wax in it, the earlier coats will then remain tacky making a better bond between subsequent layers. At least that is the way I understand it. I am sure Pete or Charlie will correct me if not quite right. Bob, You will need to get some gelcoat wothout wax added as mine is the stuff with wax ( ie. Your last coat ).
  8. Job done - It is now called "Record a Catch". Let's now get catching !
  9. E-Mail Catch Report. Admittedly it is not clear which one of the two, but it is when you click them. I will remove the "Write Catch Report" one as this is only a forum link and I will change the E-Mail catch report to read "Report a Catch". Better ?
  10. You would have been depressed if my "shrink and post effort" had been sharper though
  11. I think the amount of oil is relatively small ( apart from the affect on the seabirds from the diesel which was initially spilt. ) An interesting fact regarding the containers. It was being discussed on the radio and a figure was quoted for the numbers of containers which fall off ships at sea over the year. The number was quite staggering - I cant remember exactly how many but it was in the 10's of thousands I think. It was also pointed out that the South Coast is one of the worst places for oil pollution - given all the ships travelling up and down the channel. The way I see it, the containers will have little affect and in fact could even be beneficial for the rod and line angler ( IMHO ) as they prevent trawling where they are sitting on the sea bed. Comments ?
  12. My guess is it's a Honda outboard and I have a sneaky idea what it is attached to. ( There again probably miles from the truth ).
  13. This is the total of all catch reports which have been logged through the site since I wrote some software to automatically log the reports back at the end of October. Gold stars to those listed for using the feature on the site. I intend to write some software to allow the catch reports to be queried, but given how few there are at the moment, it is not currently worth my while. If more members start using the facility though, then I will have more of an incentive to write something. Therefore, start catching ( which is the hard part !) and start recording ( which is the easy bit ) Logged DateCaught Name Boat Species Weight 29/10/2006 21:38:31 29/10/2006 Dave Samuel Sammy Gurnard 1.5lbs 29/10/2006 21:58:10 29/10/2006 Alun Jones Enticer Bass 8 lb. 6 oz. and 6 29/10/2006 20:23:11 29/10/2006 Carl Hurren Overdraft Cod 14lb12oz 07/11/2006 12:53:45 04/11/2006 Paul Dore NEO Whiting 1lb 8oz 07/11/2006 12:54:47 05/11/2006 Paul Jennings Neo Pollack 10lb 11/11/2006 09:39:38 08/11/2006 andy garrett lady jane Cod 16-3/4 09/12/2006 19:31:54 09/12/2006 Gordon Holt Fugazi Cod 9lb 17/12/2006 14:44:49 17/12/2006 Paul Jennings Marineboy Cod 16 1/2lbs 20/12/2006 22:02:02 20/12/2006 Paul Dore NEO Cod 20lb 8oz 07/01/2007 18:26:50 07/01/2006 Alun Jones Gastronaught Flounder 2 lb. 0 oz. 20/01/2007 18:31:13 20/01/2007 Alun Jones Gastronaught Flounder 2 x 2 lb. 0 oz. 28/01/2007 23:47:05 27/01/2007 duncan mackie Phaeton Conger Eel 46lb 28/01/2007 23:47:37 27/01/2007 duncan mackie Phaeton Ray - Small Eyed 8lb 4oz
  14. Dan, No catch report been sent through the site. Could you send one using the link at the top of the site "E-Mail Catch Report" link. Every one sent gets recorded into the database on this site and I intend to make it worthwhile for those that use this facility...... Duncan, Your photo looks crisper than the one I posted - eg. The rods are sharper( and they are both similar resolution ). All I did was open the original file in mspaint and use shrink to get it down to a size which could be posted. What did you use to tweak the photo ?

The stuff I have has the wax added, although has been sitting in the shed for about 6 months. I used some around a month ago though to fill a couple of chips in the floor and set OK so should be good.
  16. Gary, Interested if the engine turned over and also were the two lights flashing or continuous. Had the engine been running before it stopped altogether ? Will be interesting to see what South Coast Marine diagnose.

Bob, Found the tin and opened the lid. All smells and looks OK inside !
  18. Duncan , I have the full 1MB file from Alun if you want to "tweak" that one.
  19. Pic of Doms Cod
  20. Alun, E-Mail me the picture ( webmaster@pbsbac.co.uk if you like and I will add it ( assuming you have worked out how to get it from camera to PC )
  21. Sort of thing that happens to me. Fortunately I have one of those new Sony Ericsson phones which takes pretty good pics. I now try to get in the habit of taking my Sony camera with me ( 5 years old but takes good pics and as found out recently, available on E-Bay for next to nothing ! )

Bob, I have got a tin of the stuff ( well half a tin ). You are more than welcome to some if you can't get any locally. Alternatively you could order some on the net. ( I will dig out the URL for you )
  23. Nice fish Duncan, I am so envious of all who got out on Saturday. Almost went out but was still feeling a little rough. Interesting how the photo doesn't show the true size of the eel. To me it looks smaller than 43 lb. However, that is because I am comparing the size of the boat as if it were mine, whereas Faeton is somewhat larger !
  24. Glad to hear he didn't come on, as the guy who I thought might be him had a nightmare of a game.
  25. Yes - I popped down to Mudeford on the way home and saw half of his catch ( literally ) PS: Did your cousin play at Right Back today/
