    French Leave

If your going to fish the rivers theres all kinds of rules and regs..you need a licence that requires a photo, obtained at a local tackle shop and theres 101 by-laws depends on what part of france.you cant even night fish on most rivers.Lakes are less strict(private land). Sorry dont know about the sea fishing hope this helps James

I did sneak out mid week but limped for home with my tail between my legs after a strong wind warning (5-7 Sw) after only an hours fishing . Never mind Adams seems to be doing a good job catching all the cod ,Ill just have to raid his freezer well done mate James

  23. Here they are I think..Im still a bit well the top 5 1st JIm wippy 2nd mick T 3rd James 4th Steve Daley 5th Bill Baynes
  24. Well what a nail biter That was definitely the most intense match ive ever fished. A slight correction on the results via Adam, Jim Wippy had a fair lead at the end with about a 25 point lead. As of the last five minutes of the match I had 76 points, Steve Daley was on 75 pionts and Mick T was on 71, and we all were still catching fish. Mick and myself even swang in bream on the whistle and it was that close, no one knew who second was until the presentation......6 hours later! As it turned out it was just 1 bream between 2nd, 3rd and 4th place and with nearly 200 sizeable fish recorded, with 9 different species, also with dozens of under size fish aswell it was a fair effort by all. The most disappointing thing for me was all the if onlys, I lost 2 or 3 good bream waiting for the net, ( having a double hooker of 2lb+ bream at the surface on 12lb fluro in a big sea wasnt easy!! ). Then a few dropped swinging them in and those dozens of just under sized Bream ................. But we were all in the same boat As for Jim he is a fantasic angler who is very professional and a deserved winner and it was very good of him to pass on the prize. Suzuki did soften the blow by giving him an Aux engine to go on his boat. For the non winners the Island and the food softened the blow; - Fillet steak, Sole, Mussles, Full english breakfast every day .........fantastic food and great company the other finalists were all a super bunch of guys. As for the crossing home - cancelled ferries - returning to the wrong port (Portsmouth instead of Weymouth) - ferries packed to bursting = no sleep - courtesy bus sent to wrong port (Poole instead of Portsmouth (well they both begin with Po I suppose!)) and arrived three hours late to collect us from Portsmouth to take us back to Weymouth where our car keys had been lost!! Fingers crossed for next year. James
  25. Thanks every one for all your support, all I can do is my best and just hope its better than everyone else! Rigs all tied , bags packed , home work done, tide times, size ect...and every thing crossed!! As Adam said ,I think Jim Whippy will be the man to watch, he's a good angler and gets all the upto date info on tackle ect. He managed a group win and a singles sixth in the YYS this year. Jim phoned about an hour ago to say that the ferrys still running even in the F 6 forcast and that We will be able to creep out of St Peters Port On saturday morning, to find a bit of shelter somewhere. Even in the 26mph + winds forcast , so I guess it will be wrasse and pollock on the menu . Watch this space............ No pressure James
