  1. Is she joining the club, Domm????
  2. Will be intersting to hear the FLA side of things, as they also have temperatures well in the 90's to contend with during their summer, so regulation of temp will be high on their agenda I think. Rich PS......Does he need crew in the next few weeks whilst I'm out there?????
  3. One thought on this comp subject, is to combine points for species, but give bonus points for, say, 75 ish % speciman weight. Do I get extra for my wrasse Charlie?? Rich
  4. Nice report Mike, unfortunately iy sounds as though you fared better than Rocky and I, things didnt quite come to plan, after a cracking start bagging max points on three species in just under 40 minutes!! We struggled for mackeral,.......................wheres wedgers magic smell when you need it most????? We didnt bag a Gurnard, my wet and dirty feet got wet and dirty collecting peelers and hardbacks for nowt, as the Smoothies didnt want to play, the bass stayed firmly in front of the box, awaiting our historic 1-0 victory, no macky = no tope, drew a blank there, but after fishing half the allocated time before recovering to Baiter, I think we managed a poultry six species, which is dreadfull for this time of year. Just happy with my Ballan squeaked out early doors, sent in to the mags, hoping for a catch and release prize maybe, or just the chance to get the mugshot into print again............Gay Bear Beware!!!!!! Off to fish for my title down in Weymouth now.......species hunt on lures only, hopefully it wont be hero to ZERO, as defending champ. I think I'll get out those old rusting handcuffs and cuff BB to the handrails so he cant fish!!! If we do change the format of the comp, a 10% plus ballan for me please Martin!!!! Wake up all....I'm off west!!! Rich
  5. Blimey Guv'nor, strike a light................just had a flash back, Islander!!! Get on to Crazy Fred off this forum, he is flogging a couple of Penn 975's, not a lever drag, but still a cracking little multiplier. I borrowed one off BB the other week, and it worked a treat for me in the Race, very nice reels, although crazy's isnt a lever drag, but at the price he is floggin' em for, it matters not. (Ten pound discount off me reel Fred?????? ) Rich
  6. Watch this space, Big Gay Bear........already E-Mailed 'em!! Rich
  7. Interesting to read more rays taken on live Joeys. I had my PB undulate on a live joey, off the back of the Island. Well done Gnasher.........Chunder boy is the kiddie!!! Rich
  8. I must admit, I have had a few ABUS over the years, indeed I used my Ambassedeur 5000, the first multiplier I ever bought, way back when men were men and women were glad of it, today in the species hunt, and it feels so different to the 7000 LD I also used today, they even sound so different, I have had problems with the 6500LD series, sent it back for problems with the engaging mechanism, then flogged it when it came back refurbished, as I felt it just didnt have the guts for the style of fishing I was using it for. To be honest, Islander, sorry dont know your first name, for an inshore reel, mid to shallow water, using sub 12oz leads to hold bottom, my choice would be my TLD 5, or maybe one of the smaller Diawa reels, unless you are able to get a decent ABU 5000 series, or older 6000. Rich
  9. PJ, I nabbed it on the rod that you bought for Rocky's Ryan for his birthday........went like a train, I was sure it was a Bass!!!! Rich
  10. Squeaked out this personal best Ballan, of 5lb 4oz, this morning, during the species comp...shame it wasnt a specimen hunt!!! took ragworm, on a size 6 hook to 15lb line, on a slow drift.
  11. 30lb...nice fish worth the effort. Rich
  12. Very light line Dan...is that the norm?? Is it needed that light not to spook the thick lips?? Complete novice on flaot fishing...far better at wanging a small red Mepps in front of 'em. If you are fishing either thursday or friday, I may nip down to watch the maestro in action. I'll sit on your new seat box. Rich
  13. Terry, be mindfull not to place any obstacle in the path of Mackeral in the drum, as they will get into any corners nose first, sit there and drown!!! They must be free swimming. Rich
  14. Tom dont laff......................I have a photo tucked away somewhere of a mystery arse, I think Martin is going to post it as a monthly comp, if he has a prize to give away, failing that, I'll provide one just for the crack! Ooooooops......excuse the pun, none intended!!! Jokes aside Tom, what is the plan mate, as I'm now out for the duration untill we meet up on Tuesday. I'll need to sort gear. Plan B for me is to crash in Weymouth at BB's, if the lovely Mrs BB allows the old man and I out for sherberts after the Kidds comp on the Quay mon evening, that way I'm down in Weymouth ready to move early doors, and that leaves a seat free for extra food for the trip. Speak soon tom, Rich
  15. Al.as long as thats all he's waxing!!!!!!! Rich
  16. Got it Dave, and thanks......actioning accomodation today........flights sorted Rich
  17. Well Done Hells!!!! Nice to see plenty of fish being caught and returned. Rich
  18. Would it be more prudent to all go in one vehicle then???? I can drive to Charlies and collect Sam and his gear, I'll pack a small amount in a bag, if only one person brings weights, then payload is kept to a minimum, and we reach "ramming" speed far quicker. Rich
  19. Dave, registartion numbers are camera sensitive these days, so it MAY have been recorded somewhere along the route, if the tailboard was still fitted. I'm sure that local plod ahs already followed this line of enquiry, but check with your friend to see if its already in hand. Next bet, is Buy aboat under
  20. Spot on Al
  21. Tom, I cant promise eels, but will try my best to secure some. Will call you monday evening. Bear in mind my wagon is not a crewcab, so space for one only. Rich
  22. Terry, if you do include the aerator, then the system is portable, off the water, however to combat this, all I did is just circulate the water in the tank. The motion of water spouting out of my down pipe acts to aerate the water slightly. Then when the system is on board, the tank is fed by fresh sea water, and holds the same temp as the outside environment, with a slightly less O2 content. Rich
  23. PJ, when I spoke to james about it, he mentioned the Venturi aspect, I think he's better placed than I to comment on that. I spent my physics lessons down at the river, fishing!!!!!!!!!! Less than a swallows flight from the school Rich
  24. Sam, I can slide by and collect you if needed, ok?? Rich I think Dad has my number.......got your number....got your number
  25. Well, sorry to disapoint Tom, as you well know, my days in the diplomatic corps are now over. I'm about as subtle as a sausage in a synagogue!!!!! Rich
