  1. Guys, noting Coddy's last point on max towing speeds, here's another little gem for you re. towing regs, under the good old construction and use regs Road Traffic Act......its not road legal to attach the snatch link over your tow ball, it has to be fixed to an independant point, ie to another part of the towbar. Dont give plod any reason to tug you.............will spoil yer day!! There, that's me retired bobby hat off, now.................lets get fishing! Rich
  2. As a newbie..............can someone explain cavitation please?? Heard Adam use tyhe word last time we were out. Yours bashfully, Rich
  3. No wonder I got no reply on the home phone Jimbob.............was gonna address that tree for you, will have to wait a fortnight now, busy again next week..............Sigh, no fishing unless there's an evening slot going! Rich
  4. Paul, have you tried it as a leader for fly presentation???? Rich
  5. Duncan, if you are going out on fri and want crew, I am available. Will PM you phone details. Regards, Rich
  6. Nice one Kim, good to see that method is catching over the ledge. Regards, Rich
  7. Adam, if I were about to splash out on a new motor, with a view to using it to recover the boat, I would be looking at the tide tables, selecting a big tide, arrange with the dealer to bring the motor to a steep slippery slipway, and see if it does the job he claims it will! Sounds too easy for me! Does this model have an Rdiff lock?? That would be a real asset for recovery. Regards, Rich
  8. Whack in about another 19 Coddy.................the transformation is excellent Regards, Rich PS How's the house hunting going??
  9. Correct Charlie, our monthly Police Social Club trip out on Due South with Mike Hannam at the helm, Ted has just re-married, so he is having time off. Rich
  10. Last I heard, (WED), East solent was having horrendous problems with weed, Adam, best check it out. Rich
  11. Jim, we went off the Atherfield , back of the Island, then popped a litle farther out to the wrecks around six miles, drfting for bass.................and yes........I never caught!!!! Bagged a few pollock, nothing over 12lb's, so small, then we went back behind the Needles, three mile mark area, nothing spectacular. Species wise, we had: Maccky, pollock, bass (to 5lb) Blonde, small eyed, bream (to 3lb), doggies, pout, poorcod, turbot, so it was an ok day Regards, Rich
  12. James...............as long as I'm allowed to net a few Bass, count me in please, I cant do monday as I'm crewing the weed cut boat on the river.............only two more weeks of this cut to go!!!! Give me a bell, perhaps an evening sesh for the Huss is on the cards. Regards, Rich PS, seeing as you're home, do you want me to have a go at that tree you mentioned in the garden???? One good turn deserves another james!!
  13. Kind words guys and gals, still, I really didnt have the thought of a good fish prize in my head when releasing the beast, it was really the thought of the time taken for the fish to attain such a weight. I do, however have to agree with Charlie, it appears that the large Commons are putting in a show each month now, which is a little boring, and does detract somewhat from other fish that are targetted and caught, in equally difficult areas that are trawlled to death.............still fingers out!!!! Lets get fishing and show them over at SA that PBSBSAC can produce a fish worthy of a first!!!!!!! ( That includes you Jimbob ) Rich PS Debs.............can you get the machine out and sew on my new badges pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!!
  14. Adam, depending on how much light pollution there is from shore, generally, night vision is attained after about twenty mins in darkness. It is enhanced by the hour. You should be able to pick out any dark shapes in the water, if a tide is running, so much the better, white water will show around the pot bouys. If you are thinking of adding any lights, try using dim red light, this is far better for retaining night vision......however, as red is a navigation light colour, I'm not sure how you stand here. During my time in the "Mob", I found it amazing just how much you can see, without the aid of a hooooooooge torch, but if you want to try one, have a lend of my eight zillion CP see how you get on. Rich
  15. I'm up for crewing............... Rich
  16. The change in air pressure may affect them Bob...........we had loads on Wed, oh, and I managed a new PB Blonde......she was 27 about 5'10"..............no, 18lb, on macky strip Rich

  20. ........................and all fish expertly netted, might I add!!!!! Great start james, well finished, a deserved winner!!! Thanks for the evening out, Adam is right, Tara the porcupine and her hectic rebaiting skipper Jimbob! Look forward to the next venture out, cheers chap. Rich
  21. Rich was donning a wooley hat 'cos Rich is bald as a coot!!!
  22. Took up an invitation to do an afternoon/ evening bash for smoothies and Ray from Jimbob, on Tara, couldn't resist, such a blinding day inland!!!! What a difference out in the Solent! Sea mist, a slight chop, no sun, but the troops enjoyed! A quick blat over to the trusty Sconce Bouy to bag a few Mackeral, and did they oblige or what? One drift and the bait box was full, so off east toward the Boom. On anchoring up, the baits were fired out, Tara looked like a porcupine. I had heard of Jimbob's tactics, but never witnessed them The fish began to come, not as fast as last visit, but never the less, sport was excellent. Smoothies on light tackle, great fun, and even the larger Bream put in an appearance, even though the mark is renowned for smaller fish. "No doggies yet", was Jimbob's comment, and just to oblige.............in they came!!! With no Ray showing, we up sticks and head in closer to the River mouth, and gave that a bash for about an hour, a few other small boats around us. No luck there either, off back to the slip, and she's out of the water as quick as she was in, great sesh James, cheers chap, and it looks like your club record is safe for the moment Adam Rich
  23. Martin, consider yourself PM'd Rich
  24. Martin.................top baits, in theory are King Rag, and fresh Mackeral strips, but you know that Stingers can't read the textbooks!!!!! Regards, Rich The largest I have known caught off Sowley, apart from the old British shore record, was one of 37lbs.............fell to king rag
  25. Nice one Charlie...............mind out that that clumsy cluts doesn't knock the mackeral into the sea.............buckets are expensive Rich
