All I will say is Farmers knots Adam!!! Rich
-
Paul, if you fish Lepe area again, try out the gravel bank area, just after the Cafe.......drift over it with ragworm, or jellies.............the bass lurk on the far side of it, and re dead easy to nab, only small stuff, around 3lb. Also, try the mouth of Beaulieu River, Seagull Island, there was a huge sole caught off there the other day, ounces short of the Brittish record, well worth a bash! Rich

Tied the Albright and all seems well. Bob, is the super glue essential?? Pete, what size leader do you fish with the lighter whiplash, or do you fish straight through with Braid all the time?? Cheers guys, Rich
-
Cheers Paul.........fast work!!
-
Coddy.........good to meet you at last, shame about the fish, ........ some crew can put their skippers on fish.....some crew cant As Martin says, fluke plays a major role when all tactics employed are the same, but then thats the name of the game! Cheers for a great day out, again, Adam, the good ship BW rules the waves!! Next time we will have the live bait to Knobble the bass at the rock!! A PB tope for me....... although still no Conger.............James HELP!! See some of you on Thursday..............Rich

Cheers Peter, Bob,.................will re tie the blighter this evening. Hoping to use a light rod drifting for Bass off the back of the Island on Tuesday..............getting in practice for the thursady trip...................got to try and retain my Bass crown from Alderney!!!! Regards.........Rich

Guys, I've obtained new braid - 20lbs whiplash - for my light work 6600LD from ABU, and am having problems with the braid knotting to the leader......I still like the cusion from the mono length, added safety abrasion wise also. When the knot is moistened and tightened......ping!!! The end of the braid ending up frayed, not clean. Any clues as to what's going on here?? Usual Braid knot being employed BTW Regards, Rich PS Good knot link Bob........Ive mailed it to my son in Ireland.....he's mad about fishing, unlike me who's........just mad

Sunday, 0645 at the slip then Adam.............Martin, have you got crew??? I'll grab 40 Rag and a few packs of larger sandeels. Regards, rich

-

-
Martin, its looking decidedly blowy here in Southampton at present. I'm ok for either Sat or Sund, its your call. I'll bag some Raggies from Poingdesters, and grab a few packs of larger sandeels, meantime, I'll ring you to discuss events re. crewing. Ta muchly, Rich

James, I hear that mercury are looking for a highly skilled engine technician to tweak the finer adjustments on their new engines following a multimillion pound cash injection into the project........................with hammer mighty firmly in hand, the application is in Rich
-
Martin, yes please, I will grab some fresh Rag, and some sandeels, if Adam hasn't got crew, and needs a hand, I'll crew for him, if thats ok. We'll chat tonight at the meeting. I also have the gen re. the club clothing from the firm that does my gear, see what you think. Regards, Rich

Would love to come Adam, weedcutting down in Cirencester...........work gets in the way! Are you going out on Sat?? If you want crew, martin hasnt come back to me for his trip out with Coddy, so perhaps I could crew for you??? Will call you when I get home on wed eve...........have a good one, dont let Mark catch em all Rich
-
Adam, as discussed earlier, I have bought a 12v pump, it should arrive this week. I will knock together my version, and bring it over for you to trial. We've used 'em before, and similar to charlies device, they work well..............not sure about using my stockings as a filter Rich
-
Welcome Duncan, new rods always welcome. Regards, Rich
-
Adam, its worth investing in a better airstone, see if James can reccomend one, as its the higher O2 level in the water that keeps em alive alive,O. If you have a deck wash, you can wang a hozelock fitting on the business end, and attatch a hose supplying sea water into a small barrel, then fit an over flow into the sea, it works for us!!! If you want me to nip down to Pompey and grab some eels for you, you can meet me half way, at Rownhams, and grab em off me, save you as bit of time, just give me a bell Rich
-
Hi lads..............well, the scores are in from "Whistler", I'm afraid it was a bad day for us too!!! I had: 4 Pollack, 4 Wrasse, 4LSD, and 4 Mackeral, Pet Snr had the same as me, bar 2 mackeral, but managed 2 Bream, one falling to a 5/0 hook, who's shank was lomger than the pesky little nipper!!!! Great fun all the same. Rich
-
Martin, if you need crew, I'm available, I believe you have the relevant numbers, but I'll pm you them again, I expect we may bump into each other.........not literally I hope, during the comp. Tight lines........... Rich
-
Adam, I'm out on the good ship "Whistler" with Capatin Pete, is there a get together afterwards?????........he asks hopefully, longing to hear the one that got away stories in the bar after ceasefire! Rich
-
Paul, again, the number plate displayed on the trailer must match the one displayed by the towing vehicle...........construction and use regs again. However!!!!! Now that you cant just roll into a garage and demand a number plate to be pressed, you need the vehicle log book showing registered keepers etc. This one in particular is an old fave of the over zealous traffic plod. He will generally stick you on for this one...............its a dead easy ticket to write, gets him a tick in the box, and keeps sarge of his back. Its the same old story, the good guys get poleaxed by the peelers, and I dont mean crabs, the villains still walk the streets. Regards..............Rich
-
Adam, yep, the cable length is generally enough to wang over yer ball, so to speak, however, most towbars have an area just behind the ball that allows the steel cable to be slipped around, its just a little pointer that will stop the over zealous traffic cop from sticking you on, if you're squarred up on traffic regs. The thing that gets you stopped most, from an ex cops point of view, is the condition of the trailer, as most cars on the road are MOT'd. Trailers are'nt YET, but the overall condition will alert the old bill into giving you a tug........then its the old numbers game, if he hasn't whacked enough people on for the day, you become a statistic!!! Nah...............not me, I was one of the good guys!!!! Regards, Rich
-
Ta Adam, will swap it over tout de suite! Rich

Guys, I'm new to rod repairs, I normally wang out and buy a new one, however, my fave rod, yeah, the one that landed my top Bass, has lost the centre of the butt ring. Ive bought a replacement, but when it comes to re whipping, should I double whip it on?? Also, I'd like to repaint the tip section, as the dayglo orange is very faded, so should I rub back the tip section with fine wet n' dry, paint over it, then varnish on top, or just leave the paint layer, with no varnish?? Cheers guys, sentimental Rich.......or is it just plain mental Rich??
