  1. Eh??? I think THEY should be buying the drinks. They earn more than all of us put together and apart from a couple of them they really didn't perform! Heart on the night doesn't win games, it takes commitment, practice and training .... and at least one of those was missing, quite possibly all 3
  2. yes Charlie. Put my name down.
  3. That sounds like an AWESOME trip!! Well done, it was a great read.
  4. we dont "book" the fast cat as its a walk on trip so no need to book. I suppose if we book a charter boat and the ferry is cancelled then it's likely that the charter boat would be cancelled too so probably a refund would be given. I am sure if we phoned the day before to ensure the charter was going then we would know that the ferry was almost certainly going to be running too. Cant see the charter boat going out in something that the ferry wouldnt travel in.
  5. I'm assuming your daughters art project will be going in a different direction now Lofty??
  6. A duck walks into a bar & says to the barman "got any bread ?" "sorry,we dont sell bread" "got any bread ?" "we dont sell bread" "got any bread ?" "if you ask for bread once more, Ill nail your beak to the bar " "got any nails ?" "no" "got any bread ?"
  7. The early ferry doesnt run every day .... and the price increases with the later ferry so i suppose it partly depends on when the prices are right. Week day or weekend would be ok for me. July 20th the ferry is
  8. Not as ambitious as trying to get 15 or 20 boats out to Alderney and back including accomodation etc. A long day maybe, but sleeping on the fast cat both ways is on my agenda :-). The weather ...... hmmmm well thats always a bit of a lottery!
  9. I am looking at booking a charter trip in Guernsey some time late July early August. My idea is to catch the 5am fast cat from Poole (walking distance from my house ) which gets into St Peter Port at 8am. Charter boat trip for the day then maybe a meal in town (plenty of nice fish restaraunts/pubs in St Peter Port) before catching the fast cat back to Poole at about 9PM getting into Poole around midnight. I understand the fast cat at those times is around
  10. saving a fortune on fuel but wasting a fortune on mooring fees!

  15. when your original post said 6 doggies I thought you meant of the fish type ..... the one on your picture looks all furry :-)
  16. For the life of me I just cant remember Dave
  17. Hi ... I bought a big blue water butt barrel from "congerking" on here a couple of months ago. I am sure he gas plenty left too. Mine is not being used as I have plenty of built in tubs. It cost me a tenner. Either give him a shout or mine is available for what I paid for it.
  18. I think I would agree Rob ... although Conger did cross my mind. But I've never had a conger at that mark so I dont even know it they are there?
  19. So after nearly having our socks blown off yesterday inside the harbour we decided to fish this afternoons window and let the ebb push us out of Poole and the flood help us back in. I had a friends dad down from Birmingham so I wanted something special for him. So it was off to our favoured mark from last year and he was over the moon to be pulling in full strings of mackerel. Once I chucked my big rod in and almost immediately had a doggie the others decided that there were enough mackerel and they baited up their other rods. The skipper started well with a good sized tope that was unable to fit in the net so it was released at the side of the boat (around 15lb I would say). A few doggies kept me at the top of the leader board then one of my crew jioined in the fun with a smaller tope followed by doggies. His dad with his new rod and reel set that he bought for
  20. Yes Nick but I was not rewarded with a nice bass!!
  21. no wash, no dry and no insulating tape Jim .... there was too much blood. I didnt actually realise I had come out the other side tilll I washed it at home later but plenty of new words tho
  22. A friend was down from The Midlands in anticipation of a trip out today but alas the weather had different ideas. We stayed inside the harbour staying away from the white tipped waves by hiding behind Brownsea Island. Unfortunately the fish were elsewhere and we had a completely blank day. All was not lost tho' as each trip irons out another little problem and the trim tabs I fitted yesterday (while drilling right through my finger, in one side and out the other) seemed to stop the pulling to one side and kept the front end down ..... maybe keeping the front end down just a little too much .... so I think an adjustment is in order when I get her back out. Anyway, we're hoping to get a few hours tomorrow afternoon/evening and take advantage of what looks like the last weather window for a while.
  23. I think i've heard every excuse now!! Good trip.
