Your call on that one but shorter drifts over the more productive areas instead of following all the others seems logical to me. As an example on Sunday one charter boat in particular was fishing very short drifts with a few of his anglers hooking up every time they got to a particular area. We did same tactics and had similar results (in the end) from about 10:30 - 17:30 with the lions share of our fish coming on the flood. Very different, it's like an underground cliff coming up over 100' in some places. You will catch Pollock and cod plus occasional other stuff, I hear one club boat fished it Sunday and had a 3.5lb Brill. The ground is however more tackle hungry although not to bad if you keep in contact with your terminal tackle and keep it just off the bottom occasionally bouncing on it to ensure your still in the catching zone. Dan We were trying orange, blue and mackerel look alike shads. The orange didn't do to well with the blue in second place. Streaks ahead though was the mackerel look alike shads. that's not thinking like a fish. To improve your results look for features as there are some out there, also when you catch a fish mark it on the plotter and give that section another go or two. Doing this will soon build up a picture of where the most productive areas are. A thinking angler will more often than not out fish others Martin

After a doubtful start due to weather forecasts Dean, Phil (Trevet) and myself decided to go out there Sunday. A little lumpy going but not to bad with the odd rogue wave giving us a bump. The fishing was a little slow in the morning but it did pick up pm. We ended up with about 30 fish, largest 12lb with average size being around the 4/5lb mark with a splattering of 7/8lbers The boat performed faultlessly cruising out to the mark at between 15 & 18 knots and home again at 24knots. Dean and Tom B went out on AWOL again today but I will let them report on that trip Martin

Jim I would concur with Charlie but if the forecast is set fair and you carry sufficient fuel to allow for all circumstances then it should be fine. Adam used to take his 165 out there so he might be able to give advice re quantities etc Martin
