A good account of the days proceedings Mike I'm really pleased you and George enjoyed the day. Whatever it was that you were hooked into was a very large free swimming fish that paid little attention to being on a lead Have given it a lot of thought since Sunday and would say it was was to quick for a Ray and hugely more powerfull than even a large bully. My guess is a very large Tope or maybe just maybe some other kind of shark. Martin

There is a council dept responsible for the slipway (highways?) but I can't remember which one it is. When the slip has been blocked previously a phone call was made then a nice man from PBC came along with a tractor and cleared it. Perhaps the dept is marked on your pass charlie? I always used to keep a shovel in the van during winter months when using the slipway, just in case. Martin

This Sunday I intend to go cod fishing Dean is fishing a comp so I will need crew experienced or otherwise. Share costs as usual Any takers? Martin

says Mr Jonathon Shaw, what an understatement Ministers have studies, reports and information coming out of their ears but not a lot between them it seems. It appears that we anglers have gained nothing other than the prospect of more studies, reports and even more information for ministers to ignore. It appears they might just broaden the bass nursery areas but then again maybe not. We will need yet another costly study to see if this is necessary. Oh and bye the way Anglers may have to pay a licence fee to help fund all this research with little chance of any benefits coming out of it for us. Oh and you might have to suffer bag limits and exclusion/no take zones

Have never used a gaff and have never had much of a problem getting what I (or Dean) catch into the net....and we catch a few Martin

"Awol" had a reasonable day in the glorious weather. Alun landed several Undulate Rays with the largest going 15lb 8 oz with myself specialising in Blonde Rays ( well gentlemen prefer Blondes ) my best going 14lb 8oz. We also had Bream to 3.75lb and conger to 25lb A very enjoyable and at times hectic day in good company. Martin
