  12. Met Ben a Marine engineer on the boat today. He had already adjusted the fuel delivery rail on his last visit and today he brought the laptop. Connected it up entered the software programme and smiled. This is your fault as he pointed to a very expensive looking piece of both mechanical and electrical orientation. He took it apart and fiddled a little put it back together and bingo, sorted. It turns out that the part is boost sensor that is connected to the turbo thingy. This tells the ecu what pressure is being delivered, without this info the ecu thinks something is amiss so only gives half the available power to save the engine, very clever but annoying all the same. As an aside Ben asked me to quickly fire her up just to test and wow what a difference his efforts had made. Until now when starting from cold I had to crank the engine for several seconds before she would fire up, today she started instantly. Also normally we would have some grey smoke whereas today there was none so I am well happy. Asked Ben for the bill and that made me even happier, well impressed with him. It just goes to show that it pays to use the right people for the job in hand Martin BTW Charlie yes please I will have those contact numbers off you still, Thanks
  13. Also remember all fish count ie even undersize but remember to release them so once you have caught your 4 move on to the next speices Martin
  14. Mike weighing in the net and deducting the weight of the net after is the easiest way and kindest to the fish and exactly what we do on Awol. Smaller fish you can use a carrier bag Martin
  15. Hi Andy Nice result with a good fish to cap it off. Your mate is right to be a little dubious about night fishing it can be a little nerve racking. Everything at night looks and could be worse than during daylight. Time will build his confidence and then he wil hopefully feel more at ease with night fishing. Martin
  16. Mike Those were obviously clonking fish and well done on your achievements. Re: the registering of fish. We as a club don't have many rules but for fairness what rules we have need to be adhered to. I believe we do need to weigh fish and if after weighing you say your fish was gazillion pounds then it will be accepted If guessing weights is to be adopted then I could over estimate the size of mine with you under estimating the size of yours which can exaggerate the outcome greatly and maybe embarrassing I accept that scales too can be out but at least we have half a chance of getting near to a proper weight with them The club IS run on trust but we do all need points of reference to ensure things run smoothly and fairly (most of the time ) The only other option would be to have a weigh in so all fish are weighed on the same scales but this would lead to loads of dead fish and would I feel be a step backwards which could also open us to criticism from the antis There are other options but it can then start to get messy and personally I am happy with the rule as is but the club belongs to members so every opinion counts Martin
  17. Happy Birthday Charlie, sorry its late mate I've been away Martin
  18. Hi Alan Parking is on the road, there is a bar for refreshments but not much food available except nuts etc Martin
  19. Good gesture from Barrus and a result for you. Also well done to Holes Bay Marine former supporters of this club Martin
  20. I feel the best way forward would be record Carol's fish as a Starry Smoothhound and leave the existing record as a smoothhound as that is what it was recorded as Martin
  21. I've fished somewhere else and its nowhere as good as the mark Well done Trevor it's nice to catch the target species, good report. Martin
  22. Paul Did you use the inserts, all push fit plumbing is us without the correct inserts Martin BTW on my set up all we used was hose and jubillee clips with no problems, keep your strainer as close to the inlet as poss and you should never have to dismantle to clean pipes
  23. Sorry to but in, Max just realised your status on here was that of forum members. I have now updated your status to club member...enjoy Martin
