  2. Hi all As Trev has said I picked up the bait magnet on saturday. Bob F has some in his freezer, Charlie has some in his and I have some in mine. If anyone would like to give it a try on the Bream then let one of us know and you can have some. Incidently Trevor works on a trout farm and he showed me around whilst I was there. Well I was impressed with the little trout, they got very excited when we went over to their pool, but I was more impressed with the breeding stock, wow trout from 2lb up to 18lb, I'm giving up sea fishing and taking my rods to a lake near you
  3. Jack Frank who owns Sheila Marie will probably go if his boat is on the water. Unfortunately he doesnt come on here but usually attends the meetings. I'll introduce you if you like. Martin
  4. Remove the plug completely, you shouldnt have any problems with your t&t as this plug is just to transfer info from your engine to the guage. Well at least that was how an old evinrude engine I had was set up. Martin
  5. My guess is wind speed average, gusts as it says up to/maximum expected
  6. I doubt that the practice of dragging weights to slow your drift especially somewhere like the shambles actually makes that much difference to the area being fished. My thinking behind this is that the banks move a tremendous amount during each tide anyway. The volume of water over these banks scour the banks moving sand and gravel on its way. The difference this practice probably does make is that anglers can actually fish the banks more effectively therfore catching more fish and leaving less for tommorrow. So please if you do catch loads of fish, dont be greedy, just keep a few for the table and put the rest back for another day...or for me . Martin
  7. The trim gauge is there to tell you the angle your engine is trimmed at. Could be useful but in truth I never use mine. The reason being after using your boat for a while you instinctively know if your engine is at the correct angle/trim Martin
  8. Alex You would not leave your engine in the down position but always tilt it up clear of the water. I guess one reason for this would be less metal in the water less electrolysis action. You are correct in your assumption that the sacrificial anodes on your outboard would not offer any protection in this position. You would fit sacrificial anodes to other areas on the boat. When my boat was kept on a pontoon I had 2 largish sacrificial anodes fitted on my trim tabs and these would as Bob has said need replacing on an annual basis. The sacrificial anodes on the engine were replaced about once every two or three years. I believe the guys with outdrives or inboards are in a worse situation as they cannot lift the outdrives or props clear of the water so the annodes of their legs need more frequent replacing and it aint cheap This hobby gets more expensive by the day Martin

  13. I recently purchased a Grauvell Radial Carbon spin 300M 11 The rod is as you might of guessed 3 metre or in old money 10' long. Made of carbon fibre it is very light. The blank is thin and tippy, should you manage to catch anything it has plenty of backbone locking up nicely. It is rated for casting 15 - 75 grammes and in my opinion is about right. I have only used it twice when chasing flounders in the harbour but found it to be a light rod with plenty of backbone. I am really looking forward to using it for bream in the coming months. Cost is around

  24. Hi all Wanted: Volunteer freezer space please. I have arranged with Trevor "wedger" to colect some of the Magnet groundbait material this Saturday. I am not sure of the quantity being collected but will probably need more freezer space than I have available so need to offload some on the day for distribution later. I will try and distribute what I collect fairly/evenly between those that have posted previously, but please note that in return you will have to file a report on your success or lack of on this forum. This condition is not negotiable, so success or failure please report. Cheers Martin
  25. Nice report Adam Wish I was out there with you all Martin
