  1. Paul I cant comment on the lighter Pen rods as I have never used them. I do however have is a 30lb class pen and the fittings and finish are v good so would assume there other rods would be finished in similar fashion. The rods I use for every day fishing are a 12lb class ABU Conolon Pro, it is a cracking rod superbly finished but my favourite rod is a Team Diawa TDX 12lb class. It has a little more back bone when put under pressure than the conolon but will still give a lot of fun on the small stuff, its such a pleasure to use but is at in the upper end of the market. 2. Alun Under Dungeness you have not posted a reply, are you saying there is no spot on your envelope, if so this is correct. The thread envelope will not be marked on your machine until you have posted a reply. I think the idea of spots is to mark threads you have contributed to assist in keeping track of where you have posted. Update: I hadn't posted in that thread and had no dot, posted and a dot appeared, deleted post and spot dissapeared. Problem solved....I think Martin
  3. I think you will find if you have contributed to a thread that the dot will appear. I have had a quick look through the forum and it seems to be like this for me Martin

  12. Shackles can and do come undone on occasions and should always be wired with a small piece of stainless wire, easy to do, means you dont have to overtighten your shackle and can undo it if needs be at a later date. Martin
  13. Perhaps I should have said the chance of a cod! Martin
  14. Dave You are more than welcome onboard Maverick. If I manage to get out in the next couple of weeks will give you a call. After mid feb we will all be suffering with cabin fever as the cod and whiting will be gone, the long wait then until the plaice arrive or if we are lucky enough to have some settled weather a try at the offshore wrecks Martin
  15. Welcome Damon I cant say much more as the others have said it all, join in and enjoy Martin
  16. Flounders have been showing up on the mudflats of Holten Mere. If your looking for bigguns they seem to have come from Holes Bay although not in numbers. Another spot is amongst the moorings off of the old sea water swimming baths near the rear entrance to the town quay marina. As the month goes on I would be looking at areas down the bottom end of the harbour, around gravel point and south deep. Martin

    Bait

PJ's right, you can get away with a 5lb box per rod if your carefull and the dogs/pout don't pester you but far better to have 2 boxes per rod per day + any cocktail baits that take your fancy. This time of year take it in a cool box, with or without ice packs then you can take home what you dont use. Martin
  21. Duncan Yep even online weather is now giving a 3-4 so fingers crossed it either stays like it or improves what a difference a day makes Martin
