  10. Newboy The picture is indeed that of an in line fuel filter/water separator, this will seperate any crud and water from your fuel line. These are usually fitted when you have integral/built in fuel tanks as they can suffer from condensation and therefore water in the fuel. It is good practice to change them when the engine is serviced, at only

  13. Yep and your club will have a stall there selling goods on behalf of members and of course promoting the club. Look Here:Dorset Boat Jumble Martin
  14. Adam Binding of brakes is caused by the seizing up of the internal workings and can be dealt with as previously posted on this thread. What some of you might like to know is its is better to leave your trailer for long periods (ie when stored at home) without the brakes on, better they sieze off than on. Use chocks to stop your boat moving. Martin
  15. Mike That idea works as several boats use this method to get fresh water to their bait tanks. But obviously only works when underway. Much more conveinient flicking a switch then it works whenever Martin
  16. Wish I could come but will be busy preparing the club grub
  17. Adam If you find some suitable let me know as I would like some to Martin
  18. Newboy I would suggest that a boat of your size would need to carry more than 23litres or 5gallsish of petrol. You may get away with that amount of fuel if you don
  19. This might also be helpful
  20. If its bearings your looking at look here Martin
  21. Hi all Chris the webmaster of solent fishing would like some assistance with putting together a map of general fishing spots in the western solent. if you have any info that might help please do. Go to solent forum for further info Cheers Martin
  22. Adam Your brakes are probably over adjusted so that when you are towing the pads are rubbing on the drums which causes heat to be generated and therefore melting your grease. This poses several problems 1 your pads are probably hard as nails now and may need replacement. 2 your bearings have probably been running with no grease in them due to the grease heating up and melting away, so give them a good looking over. Your brakes will be easy to adjust as it is all cables, just slacken off the main cable slightly and thats it in a nutshell. Dr. Mad Mike can fill you in with all the technical bits Martin
  23. Newboy Is the background noise you describe a hissing noise? if it is your radio is probably not set up correctly. Try playing with your squelch control, turn it one way untill you cannot hear the noise if it wont stop turn the control the other way until it stops. You should always monitor channel 16 in case someone is ever in need of assistance. Most radios have dual watch which meens you can listen to two channels ie 16 and 6 but 16 will always take priority. If you do use dual watch remember to switch it off before transmitting or you may well end up transmitting over channel 16 Have you done the vhf course yet? Indeed are there any club members that need to take the course? let us know, we may be able to arrange another course if there is enough interest Martin
  24. Rich I would be interested in eels if we could find a reliable supplier. The only problem for the supplier would be that our fishing is governed by a lot of factors so the demand would probably be sparadic. Martin
  25. Take a look, section 8 sets out the case for a licence for Sea Anglers http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/...onsultation.pdf What do you think Martin
