Hi Paul/Adam He's getting quite demanding this new trailer commodore bloke. I do though think it is a good idea to create a a sub heading under trip planning so long as it is well used. I also think it might be a good idea to have an area for registered forum users only or password protected area for club members only. Before we do this though please consider the input from other knowledgeable blokes we could miss out on. Its your forum its your call Martin

Hi Bob Sounds like this member needs to have a MARKed improvement in his recovery skills or he should at least find new ways to ENTICE his boat onto the hard stuff Martin

Adam Nice one, food for thought, ummmm. save your tackle or your m8? well I would hit my man overboard button first, Cut my fishing lines for definate, Buoy off my anchor (your buoy is already in the water just tie it off) and chuck the rest of my warp in then head down tide to pick up my buddy. Hopefully he has got his whistle which he is blowing like a man possesed oh and where do I buy one of those lights!!! Martin

Adam You can safely pass over the ledge if there is no wind but it doesnt take much to stir things up. Wind against tide is obviously going to be the time to avoid it. You can also safely pass over the ledge if theres no tide running. I have though bricked myself and taken a soaking on more than one occasion, it can be a bit of a fair ground ride at times. You can obviously see if its passable before you get there so just take care and if it looks to rough it probably is. One tip is it tends to be a little better really close in or failing that go out and around it. Martin

Hi Adam Thanks for that info, next time I'm over that way I'll look in and see Neil. You suggest he has a website but didnt give the address? Cheers Martin

Duncan My boat has a deck wash pump which also runs my livebait wells. There is a diverter/valve with a lever, put the lever one way works the deckwash put it the other way and it feeds the livebait well with a constant stream of lubberly fresh saltwater. You could utilise you saltwater intake for this. The Live bait well has an overflow so the water is constantly changing, the rest is self explanatory. This could be adapted ie: deckwash pump into large round bucket which is fitted with an overflow which can either go out through your scuppers or a through hull fitting. To keep the cost down most parts can be sourced through plumbers merchants rather than chandlers. Which pump, depends what pressure you want but all major players do them. Mine cost about

Mark No I won't remove the antifoul in fact I shall re-antifoul just to make it look pretty (easier than removal). Also had a look at your new boat saturday, she looks big on the trailer but a really nice bit of kit. Bob I am up for anything where I can wet a line. The only problem with west bay is the slip starts off as concrete then turns to timber which can be a little slippy when the tides a little way out. The slip is also very steep. Martin

Hi all Well thats it Maverick came out of the water today. It looked rather sorry for its self but after a thorough jet washing is begining to look like its old self . Lots of little jobs to do but nothing major. I am really looking forward to trailing away with the trailer section. Do we really have to wait until April for the plaice trip to the shambles, is there anything else worth going for during March? Martin

Adam I have read several articles re: nylon rollers, all have basically said the same. 1 That rubber type rollers do flatten over a period of time due to them being soft . In their favour the softness can act as a slight shock absorber when towing 2 Nylon rollers do make launching easier due to them remaining round and not flattening , also the boat does not dig in to the rollers but sits on them. When towing however your boat gets a harder ride I would suggest that whatever your new boat comes with give that a try first. If you then think nylon rollers would make life easier fit them. My guess is that a warrior 165 will be easy to launch with either kinds of rollers . Martin
