  1. Hi Brian Welcome aboard pbsbac you are our 50th registered forum user Martin
  2. James What size wheel do you need? I have a brand new wheel fitted with brand new tyre size = 155 R 13 If its any good to you make me an offer Martin
  3. I have to manually change my plotter and back up gps to bst. Its easy to do through your menu Martin
  4. Adam Book me in on Maverick, not sure on crew yet will post later when I know. Come on guys support this one the sub committee have put in a lot of effort to get this up and running. I believe that this comp is one of our qualifing matches for the BFM comp so a double reason to fish it. Martin
  5. Adam Has your plotter been set to bst? Does your tide book allow for bst? Your tide book will give tide times for either the quay or poole entrance which are slightly different where does your plotter calculate tidal times, to get the same reading they must both be predicting for the exact same location. The above may seem obvious but I cant think of any other reason why they should be different. Martin
  6. Glaad to hear your back in the water Pete. See you out there Martin
  7. Newboy You are quite right in pointing out that when passage planning all variables should be taken into account. Responsible owners should ensure that they have suffucient fuel for the intended passage. I always go out with a full fuel tank (120litres) which is more than sufficient for my intended uses (so far) I dont think this thread was intended to be about passage planning but about how much fuel a particular rig uses overal. Taking an average over a period of time will give a good idea as to what the consumption could be expected of a particlular rig. It is also far easier to work out what you have used on an average rather than per hour as every trip is different and timed runs with fuel usage almost impossible to calculate unless you plan to do nothing other than collect data. This could be useful in many ways but especially if you were intending to buy a new motor/boat as running costs are almost as important as purchase price. It could also give a benchmark to judge wether you unit is performing as it should. Martin
  8. Coddy I do not keep a log of hours run and fuel used but obviously do on occasions monitor the fuel used. My boat is somewhat heavier than yours (Warrior 195) and has a Mariner 150hp Optimax on the back. With this combination I seem to return aound 4 miles to the gallon. So on a 20 mile trip as you stated above I would use 5 galls as opposed to your 4 galls. Its not very often that I can travel flat out, sea conditions dont usually allow that. Cruising I would have the throttle set somewhere between 4000 and 4500 which give a speed of 20/28 knots depending on conditions. On an average trip out of Poole I would expect to cover around 30 miles and use around 7/8 galls. The longest we have travelled in a day chasing fish is around 90 miles, ouch that hurt Martin
  9. Bob Book in now for next year, adams already taking bookings Martin
  10. I have caught several Bass on Large Hockeye type feathers, they work a treat Martin
  11. Should be Merley between Poole and Wimborne, Nice area Martin
  12. Coddy Its coming up to our silly season, when all these people come here from away, think they can do as they please and disrupt our lives completely The least they could do is learn the rules of the road/sea and be courteous. And all thats on top of a few idiots that already live here Oh when are you moving down? Martin
  13. Hi all Don't know if you have seen this site recently http://www.alderneyangling.com/ take a look at the reports page. Were we unlucky or what, it seems everything died the few days we were there then promptly picked up again when we left. I think there's a conspiracy against us We gotta give it another go next year Martin
  14. You are so predictable, I new as soon as I posted that that was the reply I would get. The toys are round and with a hole in ie: doughnut shaped and anyhow my blow up toys are more fun than you guys so I will stick with them Martin
  15. If the weathers nice I might venture out with Veronica Wouldnt mind tagging along with you, can bring the blow up toys and skis and maybe raft up for a picnic. Your call Martin
  16. Hi All What a fantastic day for both weather and fish, I had an absolute ball. Dean didnt do to badly and Bob (Horne) brought up the rear on Maverick. We went West and fished just off of Dancing Ledge. I seemed to get of to a flying start with Bream, dogs, Wrasse and Gars making an appearance. I bagged close on 25 Bream with the best going 2lb 11 oz. Dean had a fair few Bream I'm not sure of the weight of his best one but no doubt he will let us know. Bob struggled on the Bream he was heard to mutter something about the wrong side of the boat and the wall dividing us but he managed a few Bream and an 11lb Undulate Ray on his flattie rod which put up a bit of a struggle in the tide. On a conservation note all our Bream Bar two went back. We shall have the two kept fish for tea tommorrow We also had a ring side seat as Whisky Bravo (Portland Helicopter) rescued an injured climber just east of dancing Ledge
  17. The magazines are usually around 3/4months behind. If I was that quick I would be out of a job Martin
  18. Duncan We listen on channel 6 so as not to clog up 16 when calling up so direct to 6 and call up Martin ps we do dual watch so you could try 16 if no reply on 6
  19. Hi Sinbad Good to hear from you again. Keep posting those reports we all want to know if its worth going out Martin
  20. Mr. Fish recorder Can we now take it as we have the formula that we could all save a packet and buy cheap multimeter instead of expensive electronic scales I think we had better stop there before it gets to technical. I just want to go fishing not take a maths degree Martin
  21. Richard your SEVEN hours commences when you start fishing and finishes seven hours later, no tea breaks allowed. Martin
  22. Hi Dave Sorry to hear about the virus, how did you get it? I believe you can remove that virus without refromating your HD. If anyone else gets it click here I hope you didnt loose any important information, its a bas@@rd when you have to reformat your HD, takes ages to do and then you have to re-input or restore all year info. Never mind have a beer and think about your next fishing trip Martin
  23. Paul you have made me feel a little better, batteries included with mine and I have had them over 18months with no problems Martin
  24. Adam That is a very good price but it will probably be the cours and test only, you would have to purchase your licence after you completed the course. I would jump at it if I were you it doesnt come cheaper than that. Martin
  25. Duncan I believe the rules for the bream comp are the same as our monthly species hunts and are FISHED OVER A SEVEN HOUR PERIOD BETWEEN 0730 AND 1630 to allow members to adjust their fishing times to suit tides, launching etc. Martin
