  13. Dave no thanks I did look into that once but decided against it Chris a different town which I guess has the same representation issues Mike a tunnel wouldn't be "Iconic"
  14. Ah here we go with annual "planned" maintenance, now not just on one old bridge but now the twin fails bridge as well. Plus approximately every 5 - 7 years there will be major upkeep expenses paid for by us the rate payers. If only the voices of some of us locals were listened to. A fixed bridge in a suitable location would have not needed anything other than very minor repairs for the first 20 years with minimal on going costs ie no lift operator no hydraulics or mechanical bits to break. The old bridge could have been either demolished or just lifted and left up. But there you go the council and town planners know best Hindsight will be wonderful when it dawns on those that made the decisions.........but then again their never wrong.................are they?

  19. Hi Rik and welcome to our club's website. We think it's the best in the country but then again we know it's the best in our area....you decide. Regards learning how to fish your best route would be to look out for members posting for others to crew. This will speed up the learning curve no end. You can also ask questions on here, I'm sure you will get no end of help and encouragement. Why not consider joining the club proper? £15 joining fee plus £15 individual membership will be without doubt the best £30 you will have invested in your new hobby. That assumes you are prepared to put yourself out and muck in ask questions and ask for rides out. Anyhow whether you join or not you will find the guys helpful and welcoming Martin
