  6. Dave no thanks I did look into that once but decided against it Chris a different town which I guess has the same representation issues Mike a tunnel wouldn't be "Iconic"
  7. Ah here we go with annual "planned" maintenance, now not just on one old bridge but now the twin fails bridge as well. Plus approximately every 5 - 7 years there will be major upkeep expenses paid for by us the rate payers. If only the voices of some of us locals were listened to. A fixed bridge in a suitable location would have not needed anything other than very minor repairs for the first 20 years with minimal on going costs ie no lift operator no hydraulics or mechanical bits to break. The old bridge could have been either demolished or just lifted and left up. But there you go the council and town planners know best Hindsight will be wonderful when it dawns on those that made the decisions.........but then again their never wrong.................are they?
  8. I have a large one hanging in my tree but you can't have it........the grandchildren would make my life unbearable

  12. Hi Rik and welcome to our club's website. We think it's the best in the country but then again we know it's the best in our area....you decide. Regards learning how to fish your best route would be to look out for members posting for others to crew. This will speed up the learning curve no end. You can also ask questions on here, I'm sure you will get no end of help and encouragement. Why not consider joining the club proper? £15 joining fee plus £15 individual membership will be without doubt the best £30 you will have invested in your new hobby. That assumes you are prepared to put yourself out and muck in ask questions and ask for rides out. Anyhow whether you join or not you will find the guys helpful and welcoming Martin

  21. Hi James welcome to our club which we believe to be one of the best around. A few of us keep our boats up at Rockley on stack and store so you're not alone. The chairman("Serenity" Merry fisher 695) treasurer (Warrior 165) myself ("AWOL" Karnic 2460)and others are up there. Not a good time of year for fishing inshore but there are opportunities offshore if the weather ever allows us to go out. Inshore fishing should pick up end of April/may when the Bream arrive in numbers (hopefully) No harm in going out with other members during the quite period to learn boating skills and to get the jist of where local marks are. Dave aka Coddy on here is our safety officer. He would be best placed to tell you about courses and training available Small boat angling is a large topic to learn about as it's not just about the fishing however by joining a club such as ours and by joining in and taking advantage of what's available the learning curve could be dramatically reduced. As soon as I receive confirmation from our treasurer that you are a fully paid up member I will update your forum status so you can then view the members only section of the forum. Martin
  22. Mick, I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work on a shaft drive boat if you can find clean water to site it in. If it were me I would be looking to fit it inside the boat somewhere away from the prop. You can fit a transom mount inside the boat to shoot through the hull by using something like plumbers mate initially to see where it works best. When a good place is found you can then fix permanently with a pack glue or in a bath of cheep cooking oil. The most important things when fitting are: clean water, no air between the transducer and the hull, and fixing the transducer upright. Others will probably have more ideas on how to fix internally Martin
  23. Just to give this a bump The weather is depressing me a little so I have been reading this again. I am so looking forward to this trip with a little over 10 weeks to wait, fingers crossed for the weather to back off. Any new additions to the list? Martin
