Let us know when you are down next. May even be able to store the boat for a few days if that helps. Feel sure that Frank Morris will put you on to fish. We can always come out as a buddy boat if needed. Allan.

Poole Bay Flounders
Leicester Fisheagle replied to Leicester Fisheagle's topic in Conservation Issues
Just a quick up date from some of our shore fishing friends. I spoke to Steve Lawrence, who amongst other things, is heavily involved with local Winter Flounder Leagues, especially at Junior Level. Following his recent "Protect Poole Bay Flounders" posting on Facebook, he spent an hour or so with Southern IFCA at their Ashley Road Office in Poole. He was able to present them with a mass of catch returns, nos, dates, venues, lenghts, weights etc.going back years to give credence to the problem of a total collapse, not only in munbers but also size. As we spoke on the phone, he was actually fishing along Holes Bay Road alongside visitors from Southampton and Christchurch who were catching very little. He was expecting the netters to come for their nets around 11pm. It is always worth reporting fixed nets in the harbour. They are probably not always legal. Allan. -
Happy birtday Martin. They seem to come quicker the older you get and harder to recover from. Allan.

Poole Bay Flounders
Leicester Fisheagle replied to Leicester Fisheagle's topic in Conservation Issues
I spoke with Dave, one of the SIFCA Fisheries Officers, at the last Poole Bay and District Monthly Meeting. If there is any evidence of fixed nets being used in Holes Bay or the Harbour they would be interested in having details. They have already had several reports and, as he said, they know all those that are licenced, but it won't do any harm to look in their nets. Those that aren't licenced, can be followed up if they have information. According to Dave, they are responsible for most of the harbour rather than the EA, so it could be worth contacting him at SIFCA. 64 Ashley Road, Poole. BH14 9BN. Tel.01202721373. They are very approachable. Allan. -

Given the rapid decrease in the size and number of Flounders in Holes Bay and other areas of the Harbour (understand Neal will be contacting SIFCA following the Club's recent Flounder Comp. over the legality of netting), I talked to a few other anglers including beach, kayak and Winter Flounder League. I understand that there is a facebook campaign to Save Poole Bay Flounders. If anyone could give me a link, I would be greatfull. The issue could also be raised by Charlie A and other local Clubs at the Poole and District Meeting in the New Year. I am sure Dave Samuels, the Secretary, would put it on the agenda for discussion with the SIFCA Officers who attend most meetings, as I feel sure, it is quite a widespread concern across local anglers in general and the more imput we have, the better. Allan.

Jann Tryska has asked me to put up a post asking if anyone has a space for him for this Sunday's Bob Horne Memorial Flounder Comp. Please contact him via Frank Morris on 07983556047.

It certainly wasn't the best of days. The weather was horrible, the wind did us no favours, the water was dirty and weedy. The fishing was dire. However, the company was great, the catering was enjoyed by all and the tides for next week's Comp.are much better. Two comments from Rich S and Dave L stick in my mind. We don't all go fishing to catch fish and it was better than working. Well done Jerry on sticking it out, we at least only had a 15 minute drive home.

Cosidering we didn't escape from under the New Bridge until 10. 45 am. due to the Operator's Cameras not showing him the Bridge and traffic clearly due to the dense fog, we had a really good , if very short day. Fishing time was probably less than 3 hours as we arrived late due to the Bridge and we arrived over slack. There were plenty of bites from the off from whiting and pout and a few doggies, but nothing special. The on board catering was first rate and far exceeded that of Fisheagle. The starter was M and S Finest Vegetable Soup with wholemeal bread, this was followed by a savoury sausage plait. By the time I had finished the next item, mamely a triple layered, cured wiltshire bacon cob, I couldn't manage my own sandwhiches which were eaten for lunch today.Graham was a perfect host and the banter and hot drinks flowed freely. Given the boat's radar, ais which both transmits and receives and well marked tracks on his modern plotter, the fog on our return leg was an inconvenience rather than a real problem. A quick radio call to the Ferry to ascertain its location saw us entering the harbour. Certainly, Graham's detailed knowledge of the harbour, even in dense fog was very reassuring. Chris, who crews with him, took care of all the little jobs in a well drilled manner. Aerials, fenders, ropes, was down etc. were all taken care of. The only real thing I had to do was to get a trolley on our return. Many thanks Graham for a very enjoyable trip.

Thanks Graham for your kind offer of a lift out tomorrow. Hope we can do as well as several Club Members did today. Allan.

Poole Sea Angling Centre Cod Comp December 27th

Fisheagle would hope to get out, subject to weather and crew availability. -
Fisheagle hopes to be out on Thursday. We are no experts, but may be able to give some assistance. Give us a call Graham. Allan.

Fisheagle will also have to withdraw.I have just spoken to Dave who has hurt his back lifting something heavy and Mick doesn't mind being shaken but not sturred at the same time. So, regrettably, I too, have lost my crew. Tight lines to all fishing. Allan.
