Leicester Fisheagle

We had a very enjoyable day on Fisheagle and everyone enjoyed themselves. The two youngsters were kept busy. Given the limited areas we could fish for safety and the at times, slightly snotty conditions, they both did well with almost friendly rivalry running through the day. I have asked Dave (Coddy) to put up some pictures and Paul will add a few more when he does the catch report. Paul will confirm he is happy for the Club to use them. Ironically, having just sorted our transducer, I forgot the plotter and fishfinder. I can highly recommend the Navionics phone/tablet version which served us well as a back up plotter. Would we have done better with known plotter marks and fishfinder is any bodies guess. Many thanks to Alfresco and crew. Allan.

Many thanks for the report Hooky. Look forward to more pictures. The "hybrid" looks more like an undulate as the picture does not show the patches of spikes on the wings. You forgot to mention you lowered the anchor into 90 feet of water with the detatchable recovery ring still hanging from the anchor. God knows how it didn't drop off. Sods law the one time it got stuck. Otherwise, a great couple of days. We will get some of those bass and other elusive species next time.

Always a quality report and pictures with a good variety of fish thrown in. Sounds like another very good day.

I have taken Paul and his son out more than once and his son won this year's Wessex Junior of the year. Hope Paul doen't mind me saying that he lost his 28 footer from North Haven in the big storms a few years ago. Neither of them are novices and are both as keen as mustard and house trained. I am up in the Midlands settling some of my father's affairs after his funeral until the 20th/21st. Otherwise I would have helped. They have their own lifejackets, rods etc. Allan.

Liverpool lads used to use old fridges and freezers and fill them with things, especially old bags of cement etc. The Welsh trawlers soonstopped fishing the Mersey. Allan.

Just on the off chance before I start chasing round, does anyone have an o ring that will fit an Airmar P79 Transducer? Also, one of the long bolts that holds the top on? The o ring comes as part of a fixing kit which has base fittings and lots of other things I don'tneed. Both items were left off by my "professional" when he resited and replaced the item under warranty. Grenham Regis have suggested PMS for the o ring others Ashley Power. Probably know the positives and negatives (very few) of the boat as well as most and have seen all the factory updates since my purchase in 2013. Many thanks for the report Dave and the invaluable assistance. As you say, one of the more interesting days. I have made up a slightly longer bridle, but after yesterday, I don't want to use it too often. I had several observations about yesterday. The swell in the harbour and hight differences of the two boats made lashing alongside impossible untill we reached calm water. Fortunately, Frank had paddles on board and that allowed them to beach the boat in very shallow water by the Fisherman's Dock Slip. He was aware of a problem on his recently purchased engine in the morning when he got a low voltage alarm. The radio also started to be erratic at the same time. Happily, he had a back up. He has 50 hp motor on his Raider, how many people with a similar set up have tried to start their engine with a cord? He bought a new battery today, but it could well be the rectifier or alternator.
