  1. Enjoy Jimbo!
  2. Hurds Deep sea temp 49.8F 12/04/2011 54/55F forther West (South Western Approaches?) http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/obs.shtml
  3. I'm not ready! I have drag washers to replace and kit to check! Haven't fished for ages (not this year yet). Might have to have some warm up sessions end of this month. Plus make up loads and loads of leads to take - good ballast when going through swinge! (Ok Skip - I know - just 3 weights each!) Rob (far from excited, NOT!!!)
  4. I found a Sea Mouse in the Poole Bay Cod Comp 2009 winning fish:
  5. Toby, Bad luck re. trailer! I have a 2 ton ratchet strap that holds the bow down on the trailer - it is far too long and far to big for the job - however this is my backup winch if ever needed. I could ratchet the boat up slowly then tie off - unwind, ratchet some more etc etc. Hoping not to need it as I got a new shiny winch from TrailerTek at Micheldever (just round the corner from you!). Well done for annoying jetskiers!! Rob
  6. I voted for the one i liked best!
  7. My biggest catch was Tony Deavin! At the end of a trip he passed me the rods (his and mine) which were all still setup! A sakuma circle went in and out of his finger like hot knife etc. (TBH I was impressed with their hooking power! Tony, not so much!). Anyhow, snipped off the barb and removed the hook. I think being ultra sharp and clean meant that by the evening Tony couldn't even see the entry \ exit wound! Better that than one of Tony's big ole rusty hooks!!! It made the idea of having some good quality heavy duty snips onboard an essential! I haev these Fox ones and they go through the biggest 10/0 hook like it isn't there! Infact I was using them to shorten some bolts last weekend! They do go a bit rusty (can't be stainless as too soft) but mine are still excellent: Fox Extra Long Side Cutters The Fox Extra Long Needle Pliers are excellent too, stainless-ish too! Both about
  8. Keep up youngster!!!!! May 12th or 2 weeks later if delayed I think. But others may go at other times and I think Oil on SC is planning to go on the 26th anyway. There is prob a trip in June too, but possibly to Cherbourg. HTH, Rob
  9. Oh - I have caught Pumpkins somewhere locally, a Christchurch water perhaps - can't remember! Had great fun catching BM Bass on the fly at a lake in Canada, the RV was parked by the lake side (literally 5ft from the water), campfire roaring (in a lorry wheel!) and I waded up to my knees, fly casting - nirvana I think!
  10. Craig, I know when to keep quiet - I have done my bit for the next few months. Just a bit sad you left it at the DD!!! Though by the sounds of it, it will be seen again! Rob
  11. I guess we would have more "sport fishing" if there were plently of fish! If the minimum sizes were bigger then the sport fish that were plentlyful would be bigger and give sport. A 36cm bass is not great sport - but if fun maybe, 45cm is good sport, so a min size of 50cm might mean an increase of 45cm fish to give the sporting angle what they want.

    Hello

Can't win em all!!!!! Excellent - I had a Eurosport 13 for a number of years - hopr you've got a wet \ dry suit!!! How's your trailer? I modded mine and made it 50 times easier to retrieve. Welcome, Rob
  13. Maybe the issue is the minimum take size is TOO small. That would resolve the issue for charter skippers and anglers!!!! Rob

  16. Club discount scheme on the cards? Who wants to run with it?
  17. Happy Birthday Tony. Rob
  18. Seems that it was a 30ft Whelk Fishing Boat - so not small! Question: Does Radar on a high bridge pick up close objects or does it pass over the top? i.e. what is the vertical beam spread like? No doubt there are 100 variations! Rob

    Stolen Reels

Unless there is proof of forced entry, insurance might say no! Also, you need to ensure you get a police crime reference number. I feel your pain, I think we all do! Rob
  22. It's coming - Summer is nearly here! :
  23. Sadly many Flounders do have orange spots (dependant on time of year?) and I guess that is a prime example! Not quirte plaice shaped! Rob

    New bait table

Just thought I would bump up my topic from when I made my external one - for the small boat owners among us, who didn't see it as it was from 2007!!: http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=6686 It has had one minor mod since creation . There is a piece of plastic across the outer edge resting on that central island \ hinge mount - so the goo and juice pass under but frozen maccy dont slide off at 30knts!!!! (experience proved this to be an issue!) Rob
