  1. Flippin heck Mick - you paid attention on that course! I do recall some info on the news when we had the fuel shortage, concerning keeping only small amounts at home not in vehicles. Not sure there is a work around for us, unless we get some dispensation, as per we do for trailer lighting. Rob
  2. No Mick, you have less than 10 litres! Shhhhhh! What is the score with diesel in heating oil tanks then?!

You have the time being retired! Do you also go to the post office at the same time that the working population have a lunch break?

I think this was a reaction, after listening to Chris Moyles and Fern whoever going on about dates and times and the seconds that had a pattern in them! Dire radio and silence would have been better! However, i am sure this will appeal to those who round up their fuel filling to the nearest pound or have to check the front door is locked 12 times before leaving home!

"Now..go figure this out----take the last two digits of the year you were born, plus the age you will be THIS year and it will equal 111" Of course it will! If you did it last year it would have been 110! Next year 112! Almost like adding you age to the year you are born gives you - this years year - spooky!! Oh no, it's just addition!

    Help please

I have a old skool metal one: http://www.force4.co.uk/247/Force-4-18--Radar-Reflector.html Mounted on my boat hook with some shock elastic - I believe it should be used in "rain catcher" orientation. Must get some one to ping me with and without when out. Rob

Indeed I agree with Trev and have the same reservations. Whilst it is good to have a few pinches of salt must be taken. Reported fish coudl have been reported more or less in teh good old days. Catches may have only been reported by those at a meeting, now you can be anywhere in the world 24/7 and report. Are we using more rods, have more members, more boats, better treminal tackle? Better fish \ mark \ location equipment? Faster boats that can make more marks in a day? TBH I am not sure we can use this data to a great extent, expect to see what the biggest fish were and how many - as Fishermen never change, it's all about reporting the big one!!! Rob
  10. Nice one chaps. couple of queries that caught my eye - Red Bream - 2 entries - different weights Thick Lipped Mullet - same angler, same sized fish, same day on different boats Rob

Neil at Bournemouth Fishing Lodge is very helpful. Charlie A and I paid him a vist a few weeks ago as CA wanted some light spinning rods. He bought 2 which were amazing value and wanted a third slightly heavier one in 8ft. Neil had nothing quite suitable, due to a recommendation from a friend we asked if he could get a specific rod. He was more than happy to help with no need for a deposit and we could have taken or left it. In teh end he ordered a selection on our recommendation (no pressure then!). We returned a week later and there on display was the 8ft and 9ft version of the choosen rod. 10 mins later Charlie had his 3rd spinning rod and a spool of line - watch out Mr Spikey!!! Great service and a can do \ can help attitude. I feel that you should't buy a rod that you havent seen \ tried with you own eyes. So unless you have tried one before, the tackle shops are the way forward. (I had seen \ heard of an Abu Diamond Crest spinning rod, found one in a shop (not local) absolutly awful, bad rings, bad action nothing like the ones Charlie bought and for the same money!) Rob
  12. No - not always - it may not have enough power to get past the point you are maxing out at. So you need more HP or a smaller prop! You need to be able to run at max revs @ WOT - if not you are over propped. I have dropped prop size and maintained the top end speed, gained better acceleration and more favourable fuel consumption. Rob
  13. Can anyone else smell something?
  14. The old - "dont use Kimmy in a SW blow \ swell" post. You may have just opened up old wounds!!! I have used Kimmy and it is excellent. Just ensure that a SW swell is not expected. Low tide can be an issue as there are rocks a plenty in and around the slip. Rob

  19. Last time I looked at Porthcawl there were issues for me with underwater gear cover. Not the same with Mardon, so I use Towergate Mardon. This was the info I found in Oct 2008 (check your small print): "I have just renewed with Towergate Mardon, I did get a quote from Porthcawl but they only cover up to
  20. Nige - I hear SAGA do a good deal for the more mature (age not mental state\senior 50+) gentleman!!! Seriously - they do provide boat insurance!!

Mike, I haven't done any on the lower reaches. I don't see why they wouldn't be there - I think it is such a mixed bag down there! Seen a few reasonable carp caught form the old quay by the boat rental hut! See if Dommy or Gnasher pick up this thread - they fish around Tuckton Bridge I think. Rob

Plenty up the Stour - near the canoe club Think you need a day ticket and \ or membership of Ringwood club now though! Otherwise trail your boat to Llangorse in wales - I had a great time there: http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=7209

Desperate times call for desperate measures!!! This is when you need to put the boat away and earn brownie points by painting and other odd jobs round the house - then when the bream, turbot, plaice arrive we are all free and ready to go catch. Well, that's what I'm doing!! (Might get a bit of piking in too blow the cobwebs!) Rob
