  1. Dave - my Yamaha lighting coil outputs 42 VDC @ 1500 rpm and 127 VDC @ 3500 rpm, note it is DC - though it is newer that the unit you have. Get a manual if you can as that is where I got the above data from. It also advises the expected resistance parameters of the coil. Without manual or the correct data you are goign to strugle! I will check my Yamaha Manual CD and see if a C40 is in there! Rob
  2. Well done Kev, good to see you out again. Tight lines, Rob
  3. No great report from Boblin today. No vis and 5kn out to the spoils! We knew it was bad when we could hear teh chain ferry btu couldn't see it until we were 50yds from it!!! Bobin has radar but never used in anger - but we did today, for 10 mins until it seemed to trip the fuse or similar!! We could hear people chatting but not see them until the fog lifted a little, but only to return. A few whiting to 2:13 kept us amused but no cod! Vis was about 400yds dropping to 100\50 in the swash. Nice to be out, not cold, just a bit damp. Zero swell in the lee of Durlston which was ace! Cheers Col. Rob
  4. Personally I dont fancy it - so my title is up for grabs, good luck to all, lets try and kepp it in the club. Rob

    Short Love Story

I think that getting back in to work or just in to work is hard if you have been off work for years. Best thing I think we could do is make them earn their benefits - 3 job leads is all well but what to do for the rest of the week? Pick up litter, clear snow and ice, cut hedges, help out the post office etc etc. Free handouts are a drug and any payment needs to be earned.
  9. Excellent Alan, the boat may go but the memories will stay with you (though at your age you shoudl write them down before you forget!!)!!
  10. My first trip to Alderney on JV was ace - good fishing, good food, good boat and OK company!!! Weymouth this year was a good crack too! Again, taking people fishing and seeing them catch (not too much mind!), especially Charlie A's son Sam catching mackerel on Star Turn. Watching Air shows from Star Turn. Having Olivia (@18moths old) steer JoJo up the Dart river in a zig-zag formation, as she was unable to see above the gunnel! Keeping JoJo on the river in Dartmouth for a week and going out at least twice a day, at 4am so meet the sunrise. Landing Alun J's 18.5lb bass on a cod comp, not exactly target species but we didnt complain! Have to mention: Winning the 2007 Open and clearing the prize table (rules have been changed since then), not only did only motor only 30meters to fish but I won the Club Xmas raffle (DeWalt cordless drill) the night before!
  11. Me!
  12. I am hoping to retain my Title so will hope to defend it and make off with the cash again!!!! Assuming the weather is OK of course as not sure I can be bothered to do another day like we did on Shogun I suspect it will be cancelled if the weather is unsuitable for small boats. P.s. my Avata is the winning
  13. Got a boat, happy with it. I dont go to the bakery if i already have bread!!! Because i will drool over the cakes!!

    Oh, Yes it does! ..........
  15. Hi Kevin - give us a bit about your boating history - if none - don't rush in to making a purchase. Join the club, go out on some club boats - get a real feel for what you want to do, because what you think you want now might not be what yoyu want to do in 6 months \ 12 months! Rob
  16. Now you have posted the details that it is buoyed, perhaps keep us informed if you get it back - if not, someone maybe heading that way and be able to help - hopefully they will advise you before they go and you can ping them the numbers. Rob
  17. I just put a couple of cable ties through the hole in the threaded part of the shackle and loop inside the shackle - job done! If I have time I have used stainless wire or even copper before - however the cable tie is easy on the hands. Rob

    Dory?

If it is foam filled - ensure it is not waterlogged! I have a new 40 on my 13ft dory and that flew - I woudl suggest 40 on a 17 to be well underpowered. Rob
  25. Nuts - completely nuts! Love the sunrise pic! "had to make a stop on the beach (no log pod) said I'd catch them-up." - didnt realise there was a public convenience on the beach!! Imagine how much more difficult the return paddle would have been with a brace of 30's onboard! you got away lightly! Nice to see that all round white light on the Yak - do most use them? Thanks for the good read. Rob
