Are they suggesting we kill the juniors catch to bring it to certified scales. They need a kick up the arse!

I get it now! Charlie has replaced Sam and Dan, first the capstan and now the pilot!!! You'll have electric reels next! Hope you have a goodun tomorrow. R

Mal, are you really too lazy to drive to your ray mark and back? You need better trained crew!

I heard 3 weeks ago there were loads around Dartmouth!

The water issue is more about getting the inside of the bag moist before sealing (don't go there!). I buy long bags that have the rough texture that allows it to draw the air out (as shown in your link Steve) - the longer bag allows the neck to be folded back, thus allowing the inside edge of the bag to remain clean and dry when place the contents in. I use a £20 lidl one I bought years ago. Then buy large bags off eBay that I can cut small if needed. Using the rolls of plastic I found a pain. I would not.want to mess with cuttle at home, good luck.eith that!!!! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

Saw this via Steve Porter: http://undulateray.uk/ Looks interesting - perhpas they have enough info to come talk at one of our club meetings? " The undulate ray can still be found along the Jurassic Coast, but little is known about their habits and movements in the wild. This project is to explore the lifestyle of the undulate ray. ... but we need your help. " SteveL - i think you have caught the same undulate a couple of times! R

At the trunk of the tide, we swang awkwardly so packed up for an early bath. The other 2 boats headed in just before us. Cold but triumphant we thumped / surfed back in and then opened her up in the harbour @ 32knts. Cheers Graham, fish pie and bread crumb & parmesan topped fillets for us this week. R

We headed out and the swash was horrible, with hopes it would flatten a little out deeper we plodded on. It didn't! We agreed to try at anchor as we will were only a few miles from the mark. Give it an hour, or half and see!!! At anchor it was awful, rocky and rolly. Hard to stand but with tide and wind going together we had a go. So did 2 other boats. I had some whiting and some kept for tea, Graham had the target species:

Graham and I hatched a plan to take Free Spirit out today, i can't do tomorrow so today or was. I met Graham at Cobbs just before 8 to load up and head out for a blonde. Frozen windscreen, no problem, bucket of harbour water over the cabin. Wrong, frozen as sheet ice. On with the asmatic heater and off in to the cold. (Some of Cobbs had the surface frozen)

Seems the bass regs are the same as last year until further notice: " Until the regulation fixing the fishing opportunities for 2017 (the “TAC and Quota Regulation”) comes into force, the 2016 measures shall continue to apply. Therefore from 1st January 2017, where the guidance states “2016” this shall be read as “2017”. So it was a nice day out, I fished with DaveE and Alun on Reel Magic. Great boat, first time I have been onboard. We had some congers and some whiting, then some congers and a few more! In the mix we had a couple of Rays, 13lb blonde to me, sideways and made me work for it! Dave had an 18 or 19lb blonde and AJ followed up with a Undulate of 13lb something. The whiting were obliging at the end of flood / start of the ebb, but disappeared with the stronger tide and never really came back. I squeaked out a larger whiting of 3lb 4.5 oz near the end of the day, to take the honours in the whiting sub-comp of the day, netting me £50 in PSAC vouchers. Thanks Andy! The only cod on Reel Magic was a Poor Cod and I was in 2 minds to weigh it in, it was a 'cod' but would have been bad taste!!! I believe a 19lber won the comp for Greg Toms and Dean Burt grabbed 3rd with his cod. Only 2 other cod were caught and both came to one of two charter boats. 37 anglers and 4 cod, not good. I hear the last cod comp was 27 anglers and more cod caught - please advise if the numbers above are wrong, I wasn't listening 100%! 'Twas nice to catch up with a few wind burnt faces at the Mariner afterwards. Cheers, Rob
