  1. Boat type? Engine? Inboard I presume? Did they fit the same size prop? Same pitch? Check against the old one incase the old one had been re-pitched (it would still say 15x15 ect but could be smaller / different size)

  9. So the time has come and the boat is loaded - plenty of heavy gear and some light stuff for the bassing \ plaice. Feeling better prepared than last year so another Blue will be a bonus. We are earlier than last year, but hope they are about! Just not sure what to do with one like this: Measured at 190lb i think - looks way bigger to me! Caught this week on Bite Adventures from Penzance, Cornwall. http://biteadventures.co.uk/ Tight lines chaps! Rob

What's the budget, then we can gain an idea if what to look out for. If it's £3k then easy, £5k easier but £1k not so!

True, Charlie A had a newish 50hp a few years ago on his family4 (engine prob yr 2000 / 2002 I think) and I believe that was just ok and struggled a bit, but now with the 2010(?) 75 it's a beast!!!! I think too, the old school engines were rated at the flywheel and the newer ones at the prop. So an "old" 50 isn't as powerful as a more modern 50. You might find too that the bigger engine is more efficient as it isn't driving uphill / struggling to keep the boat on the plane. With that weight you might want a 2 stroke for more punch to get the boat going if engine is small. Then we get on to trim tabs, have a google of SmartTabs - a few of us in the club have them and they are ace! Rob

Maybe dumping the heads out to sea to feed the food chain, as opposed to binning / land filling them.
