Also, I rarely use side scan / structure scan.

    1kw Transducer?

Half the time setting up the sounder manually and not using "Auto" gives a much better image. We need to bring Bob out of retirement for a talk!!!!! I use his, double the depth and "get a double image" for sensitivity and then set the depth back to auto! Scroll speed with depend of drift or motoring speed and width of screen!
  6. Top dangling! Where is this blue anchor, Severn estuary?

    1kw Transducer?

I expect if we fished a continental shelf or mariana trench it would be useful! Spend the cash on important things, such as crew seating and a hammock!!
  8. Nice to see them taking SC gently at 40knts!!!: "http://youtu.be/PNHEZ0LmGgc"

Luke has benefited from the great service / opportunity offered by HOW. If you are going to the Boat show, please come and support us at 14:00. Thanks, Rob
  16. Can you show a pic of how it plugs in? I assume you then need a specific case to keep the iPad watertight.
  17. It's ok Derek, you can get cream for that!
  18. Go for plastic ones like this: Fladen Outdoor Boat Rod Holder - Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002IEFCQ8/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_VV9fub0BAQ3SW Stainless ones less than £20 Each probably won't be 316 marine stainless and look awful after a year!
  19. I've got 4, only really seen fresh water use!!! All seriousness, feckers!!!
  20. I think any of the iPads with sim/3G/4G capability have the gps receiver chip. You don't need to put a sim in it for it to work, but with a sim it can fix your location quicker of startup as it uses phone masts to estimate you location. Hence a sim enabled iPad is worth the extra £100 if you are using it for nav!

    Birthday Boy.

    Enjoy!
  22. Fine, you can dump your boat on mud / a slip etc. but, if you keep it attached to the car, how do you launch at Baiter ? I assume: 1. The car is is 9"/12" of water - depending on draft of boat 2. You end up dumping the boat in not enough water and waiting for the tide or damage the boat getting it back in the trailer Also, how do you control the speed of the boat going off the trailer? Too quick and it could damage the transom / transducers etc?
  23. I don't see how this could work with trailer still attached to vehicle on a shallow slip. Fine with plenty of water! Better off with movers on the wheels but they are ££££!
  24. Ah, do you have Terry's old smoker? Good thing is, you can smoke your catch before you get back to the slip!!! Good luck with it, well looked after I'm sure and low hrs. Plus they shift them motors, R
  25. also, you need the seals to be fuel proof. There shouldn't be any pressure and I would expect the tank to have a breather. You could always go a a fuel polish instead!
