I have had many issues launching boats and quickly came to the conclusion, with wife's help, that a good steep slipway with plenty of water and protection from cross winds is essential, where she can stand on the side and hold the rope. As such we got a season ticket for Cobbs Quay, which we thought was worth it because of the number of arguments we avoided, and happily launched our boat there for many years. It is expensive, but if you use the boat regularly it beats launching at Baiter with no water, cross winds and tides and PWC drivers parking on the slip. Hope you continue to enjoy your boating what ever way you choose to make it wet Tony

Hi Sam Have just seen this post Thank you for taking up the responsibility for developing the childrens competitions I hope that the other Dads will also support you in this, when I was doing childrens competitions we set up a sub committee of interested parents who steered and supported the comps. When the kids fish the parents have to go along as well. The kids always seemed to like the on going competition of heaviest weight and most species and loved monthly results to compare them selves against the others. Please add Serenity to the list of boats that will support this With regard to prizes and resources, Last year Neal was able to source donations of prizes for the juniors, we need to consider what competitions format we should be running and then decide what trophies / prizes are appropriate. I am happy to be part of that discussion. Tony

It is worth looking at Rockley,they have frozen their prices at 2013/14 I pay about £2450 for a 7m boat it is always safe in a gale and in the water when i ask and you don't have to negotiate loads of bridges on the way in and out let me know i may get a discount for introducing a new customer!!!!! Also worth checking the main power cable (red) for corrosion often gets a lot of internal corrosion turning the wire into blue powder Tony
