  1. oohh very flash! Instead of placing the plotter infront of the steeing wheel, below the rev counter, or behind it, we initially had it on the U shaped bracket that comes with it, fixed on the downward part of the roof, infront of your head! this was better because it didnt have sunlight viewing problems, and wasnt at a silly angle if on the map area. We've since changed the U shaped bracket, and flush mounted it onto a big strip of Teak, along the head lining, which stops any vibration, cannot be easily removed, allows the plotter to be accessed by people other than the helm, and keeps it out of sunlight! (also the teak looks pretty good, making a change to boring white!) Dan ill try and get a photo, but it might have to be a photoshop on a web image!) Teak pannels sketched with the black lines (roughly,,, lol) the new plotter position is slightly more towards the left, with the plotter flush mounted into a hole in the teak) hope this helps!
  2. where abouts are you mounting it Mike? flush or on a stand? Dan

    Red Diesel

kerosine is a different hydrocarbon length to diesel or petrol, comming out of the refraction collumn at a different stage, so is not the same thing. its generally used as aircraft fuel! dont know if you can use it safely in a diesel though! Dan
  4. anyone fancy buying a 110hp nanni diesel 'heater'? very inefficent at providing heat, and has a strange spinning which is attached to a three bladed thing... but is DEFINATELY not an engine... This is just another chance of the government to generate more money, by penalising the individual, rather than the large tax dodging coorporations, with a Jersey bank account! Dan
  5. Paul, i thought Poole Harbour Authority remove all of their swinging moorings over the winter? so you have to go into a marina/ on the hard stuff at some point of the year... could be wrong though.. :S Dan
  6. got a fladen fixed spool from there on sunday... yes quite true, but at those prices, the cost of corrosion etc is a lot less on the wallet! Dan
  7. what have you already got onboard? i.e. anchor, warp etc... Dan
  8. interesting to think that correlation is so deep! if only there was some formula for success! so we need a high pressure system, non-easterly winds, hot weather, consistently flat sea state, and low levels of marine pollution Result : not in the UK! lmao Dan
  9. forget the ugly mount, and flush mount it on the roof, taking off the bottom bracket! though you will need a bit of wire-hangar work through the access pannel to get it through, but it will be a lot safer (well not as prone to break off) and is almost hidden from sight on the roof! Dan
  10. yes.. very good but... is it me, or does that kind of defeat the object of using environmentally friendly materials? Dan
  11. hahahaha yeh... lol well the simulation was for an oilslick, using tides and winds of the specific scenario, so i suppose that the wood would (haha) be effected differently by these things, so turn up somewhere different! though it was pretty interesting to see how they use the computer sim to predict where these things will reach shore, and how the cleanup teams are mobilised and deployed over the suspected landing areas! hopefully the wood wont dispurse too much! Dan
  12. coincidentially, i recently did a simulation at bournemouth uni, for geog, using computer models, incorporating tides, prevaling winds and currents to determine where an oil slick would land from a sunken / holed ship (strangely in the same area as this one!) the results were the first touch of oil on the tip of portland bill, then inside to the harbour where it hung around for a bit, eventually dispursing over the bay (not chesil beach side)! interesting to think about, though that was for oilslicks, not wood, and was for a hypothetical situation (though remarkably similar to this one!) Dan
  13. aaannd the police are aiming to prevent 'scavangers' taking the wood which floats ashore,,, which means more ends up being washed back out to sea, and eventually puts a nice hole in someones boat! planing and hitting one laterally, may miss the hull, but it would take the outboard right off! Dan
  14. now only if they attached those rocket engines, to a boat...... {drifts off deep in thought of jet-cruise liners...} dan
  15. hahaha that guy saying 'its quite a small bite...' ?! i bet the seal didnt agree with him! Dan
  16. great photo! so much detail on the fish! (bit of a shame to put it on the new white carpet... ) Dan
  17. anything in particular going on this meeting? Dan

  20. hey!! just had to say what a nice name.... not only fishing related! only joking! Dan
  21. haha they still sell those in swannage! lol typical... Dan
  22. i think what has been said (on the news tonight) is being heavily misinterpreted by many! what the commercial lads are trying to say is that they catch all of the 'over quota' fish, i.e. cod when fishing for prawns, and due to the poor arrangement of the fishing quota, they have to discard dead fish. I agree that methods of capture could be altered (such as larger net hole sizes), however surely the entire quota system needs to be rethought about, as it is not conversation throwing back dead fish, for more to be caught when the quota is due! how about only returning live unquoated fish, rather than the live AND dead ones,,, or perhaps adapting fishing methods to reduce the number of unwanted catches? such as different profile prawn skimmers etc. (okay this is only sketchy and would need regulation etc.. but you get the point!) This is just my point of view, but hey! Dan
  23. forget feathers for herring,,, ive heard that dolphin are quite easily caught!... with an explosive harpoon!! anyone for a bit of dolphin sandwich?! Dan (anyone worried or annoyed.. im totally joking, and completely detest the idea of hunting dolphins, due to their limited number, and i dont own an explosive harpoon gun,,, (yet) )
  24. charlie, use paint to resize photos on vista, its by far the easiest way without using photshop etc! congrats on the launch!! Dan
  25. nice catch there! not going to get a chance of the cod untill next year now! (though hopefully i should be able to catch something by then... ) lol Dan
