Reasons Why Boats Are Better Than Women: Boats only need their fluids changed every year. Boats curves never sag. Boats last longer. Boats don't get pregnant. You can ride a Boat any time of the month. Boats don't have parents. Boats don't whine unless something is really wrong. You can share your Boat with your friends. If your Boat makes too much noise, you can buy a muffler. You only need to get a new belt for your Boat when the old one is really worn. If your Boat smokes, you can do something about it. Boats don't care about how many other Boats you have ridden. When riding, you and your Boat both arrive at the same time. Boats don't care about how many other Boats you have. Boats don't mind if you look at other Boats, or if you buy Boating magazines. If your Boat is misaligned, you don't have to discuss politics to correct it. You can have a beer while riding your Boat. You don't have to be jealous of the guy that works on your Boat. You don't have to deal with priests or blood-tests to register your Boat. You don't have to convince your Boat that you're a Boater and that you think that all Boats are equals. REASONS WHY BOATS ARE BETTER THAN WOMEN 2 If you say bad things to your Boat, you don't have to apologise before you can ride it again. You can ride a Boat as long as you want and it won't get sore. Your parents don't remain in touch with your old Boat after you dump it. Boats always feel like going for a ride. Boats don't insult you if you are a bad boater. Boats don't care if you are late. You don't have to take a shower before riding your Boat. It's always ok to use tie downs on your Boats. If your Boat doesn't look good, you can paint it or get better parts. You can't get diseases from a Boat you don't know very well. Think I better stop now Coddy

One day a rather inebriated ice fisherman drilled a hole in the ice and peered into the hole and a loud voice said, "There are no fish down there." He walked several yards away and drilled another hole and peered into the hole and again the voice said, "There's no fish down there." He then walked about 50 yards away and drilled another hole and again the voice said, "There's no fish down there." He looked up into the sky and asked, "God, is that you?" "No, you idiot," the voice said, "it's the rink manager." OR I think the only reason my husband likes to go fishing so much is that it's the only time he hears someone tell him, "Wow, that's a big one!" OR A man was surf fishing along the beach when he found a bottle. He looked around but didn't see anyone so he opened it A genie appeared and thanked the man for letting him out. The genie said, "I am so grateful to get out of that bottle that I will grant you any wish, but I can only grant one." The man thought for a while and finally said, "I have always wanted to go to Hawaii and fish along the beautiful beaches of Hawaii. I've never been able to go because I cannot fly. Airplanes are much too frightening for me. On a boat, I see all that water and I become very claustrophobic. So I wish for a road to be built from here to Hawaii." The genie thought for a few minutes and finally said, "No, I don't think I can do that. Just think of all the work involved. Consider all the piling needed to hold up a highway and how deep they would have to go to reach the bottom of the ocean. Imagine all the pavement needed. No, that really is just too much to ask." The man thought for a few minutes and then told the genie, "There is one other thing I have always wanted. I would like to be able to understand women. What makes them laugh and cry, why are they temperamental, why are they so difficult to get along with, when they want attention, when they don't. Basically, what makes them tick." The genie thought for a while and said, "So, do you want two lanes or four?" OR DOES THIS HAVE A RING OF TRUTH? Why fishing is better than making love * When you go fishing and you catch something, that's good - If you're making love and you catch something, that's bad. * Fish don't compare you to other fishermen neither. - And don't want to know how many other fish you caught. * In fishing you lie about the one that got away. - In loving you lie about the one you caught. * You can catch and release a fish. You don't have to lie, and promise to still be friends after you let it go. * You don't necessarily have to change your line to keep catching fish. * You can catch a fish on a 20-cent frozen squid. - If you want to catch a woman you're talking dinner and a movie minimum. * Fish don't mind if you fall asleep in the middle of fishing. Hi Just to make it more difficult/interesting you need to make sure you have the correct size lights for the size of craft for them to be seen from a certain distance. You also can not have tri lights, similar to yachts, as this can cause confusion as well. If you have a stern light it may confuse others as you need one if the boat is 12 metres or longer. Think your shetland is a touch smaller than that. Confused? Regards Coddy

Hi Paul I would argue against a skate fishing ban as I go skate fishing in Scotland with others with Davy Holt who is part of the conservation team who tag all fish. He has a wealth of information to say that no harm has come to any of the fish he has caught and tagged/recorded on his boat. I/we would never keep one of these fish but I do fish for them. In fact I am due to go up on May day Bank Holiday to see if I can beat my PB of 200lbs. Coddy

Hi all The link shown here is for a study by the WWF on the state of our seas. It is a bit long but interesting. You will also need Adobe Reader to read file as it is a pdf file. You can download this free from many sites. http://www.wwf.org.uk/filelibrary/pdf/heathcheck2005.pdf Check out the Cod and Ray sections. Seems the Thornback and Blonde Rays are under threat! Would you put back big fish to fight another day? Makes you think Coddy

Hi all Glad to see some of you got out and caught fish , some more than others it seems. I was intending to go out, although I had not registered for the flounder comp. All things loaded in the car and boat, tried to pull away in the drive .................we were going nowhere! Try as I might I could not get the brakes from the trailer to unstick Nothing for it but to strip the hubs down and see why. After 2+hrs I tried again, one wheel turned but the other side was stuck solid also So by this time I was getting a dab hand at striping hubs, brake shoes off and on. We had now lost 4+hrs so fishing was off so I took the boat and trailer out for a run to bed the brakes and make sure the hubs did not run too hot. Quick dash up the dual carrageway towards Wareham and back soon confirmed all was well including a few sharpish stops. Took boat back to house and then poped down to Baiter to see if anyone was about. Only one boat was washing down, Warrior 165, and as it was cold and windy went for a walk along Sandbanks with the FPO. (Earning mre points! ) At least it saved a possible good day's fishing the next time A frustrated Coddy

Hi Rich Yes I got Dabs, Dabs, whiting, dabs, whitting, whitting I think you get the idea At least we were catching fish. We were just round the corner from the lighthouse, due mainly to the wind and getting out of it. I have never blanked there yet so it can't be bad. If I can catch a fish so can anyone! I am up for beach session as long as you don't need to cast more than 100yds Coddy

Hi all Went beach fishing on Sturday night from 4pm to midnight Despite the wind the night before it was not too bad and managed to get out of the worst of the wind, which eased most of the evening, under the steep shingle banks. Caught loads of Dabs and Whiting. I did not see anyone with a cod but others had pout and rockling. Nice to be out fishing again albeit on a beach. Coddy

Hi all I found this web site where a young couple from Poole circumnavigated the UK in their 20ft Hardy Pilot. Their diary, whilst long, is very interesting and some great pictures as well. http://www.sharad-family.com/littleboatbig...atBigIsland.htm They are raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and you can donate online if you wish. Would you go for an adventure like this? with the wife/partner for so long in a 20ft boat? A super read I think Coddy

Hi Bob Thanks, I will have to wait for my NT planner to be delivered. Interestingly I have a 2Mb user card but Navman suggest 1Mb, perhaps that is a problem as well. Oh well I better chat to the shop Monday Will let you know how I get on Thanks again Coddy

Just been down the town to drop the FPO off. Looked down at Baiter ........................ uck If it is like this I too will give it a miss. Not worth getting tossed around and wet, not what I call fun Coddy

Thanks everyone I have just ordered a PC planner for NT+ C-Map so I will be able to enter routes, waypoints etc. BEFORE setting off and with any luck know where I am going. Out of interest, I have been around Poole today, Friday, looking at other slipways can anyone share some thoughts on the following Davis Boatyard - slip is cheaper but I suspect parking a problem? Rockley Boatyard - a summer nightmare I suspect? Any others around? Regards Coddy
