  1. My old fishing mate was down this week-end so we decided to try a spot of fishing as Paul J could not make the 'Boat Handling Day' . After meeting up with the others and watching them practice manovers, we headed off to try to catch some fish. On the way out pf Poole there was a good number of boats drifting the Swash so we thought they know something we don't so we stopped and drifted as well. Within minutes my rod was rattling and up came my first ever place all 1.5lbs! We continued to drift but the tide soon became too fast so we headed off to the Spoils. Funny I thought why are we the only ones here? Still we anchured up a sat and waited and waited then I got a good bite and up came a 1lb pout. We waited and waited ................. In the end enough was enough we headed back to the entrance and tried some more drifting but no more fish. Went back to the slip at 5pm and was home by 6pm All in all a good day to be out and wet a line, shame not many fish but I am trying to learn the marks and tactics. Regards Coddy

    Magnet

Hi I have one of these "Fatal Attractor's" it is a bit messy to fill and storing in the FPO's freezer did not help! I can bring it down to the next club meeting if anyone is interested to look see. I am looking to see if it works better in the warmer climate of the Southern waters than the Eastern this year if I can every get away from the housework due to the move. Still I am earning plenty of brownie points as I need them for May when I will be out almost every week-end (weather permitting) Coddy
  5. Hi Don't forget that Porthcawl are a partner to the "Warrior" inssurance scheme where they are supposed to give extra discount! Same sort of price as mine Adam, I am with Porthcawl. Coddy
  6. Hi Jack Sorry to hear about your loss of anchor, I think we have all been there. For the future, I have found that if you can not lift the anchor by the alderney buoy, let out some more warp, (rope), if the line is too short it can not lift and pick of the anchor correctly. It has worked for me on a number of times. Check out ebay for a cheap replacement. Regards Coddy
  7. Don't forget that some sets do not transmitt when on scan mode! I know as I did it Coddy
  8. There is also a new slip in Portland where the new sailing school is, again I am not sure on charges or if you have to pay Portland harbour dues. It is just behind the old oil tanks off the new roundabout on Portland causeway. Coddy

    Sunday 19th

Would love to come but I am away all week in Holland and we move house on the Friday 18th! Bad enough being away all week but to suggest fishing .................... I think I would be pushing my luck just a little too far. Hope you have a good time Coddy

    Drag Weight?

I feel I should point out that there is a growing feeling that wieght dragging causes a lot of damage to the sea bed. It alters the feeding ground which in turn reduces the amount of fish around the area. You may find someone having a word or two! Just thought I would add my two pennith worth in Coddy
  11. Hi Adam Count me and Sammy in subject to work travel etc. There are some other slips in and around Weymouth. Town slip does get busy in the summer/week-ends so you have to be a bit smart in launch and recovery unless you want to hear lots of mumbles! Try checking out "Boat Launch" web site, there is a link on the clubs web page. Coddy
  12. I have the Plotter and GPS reciever domes next to each other on one side of the bridge and the radio antenna on the other end. Not had any problems but I do try to keep power cables and reciever cables apart where I can. Hope that helps Coddy

    Warrior 165

Hi I looked on my 165 and could not see one at the wheel end but I do have a nipple at the motor end of the cable. I give all my nipples and sqirt every couple of months (no comments please) Coddy
  14. The trick in keeping unleaded fuel is to keep the tank airtight. You could try Lead replacement fuel but like any petrol it will evaporate over time. As suggested previously mix old with new and I am sure it will be ok, problem areas is for the auxilary motor, how much is left in the tank from your last run? Might be worth drain and re-mix some fresh for the new season. You might find an oily sludge in the tank! Coddy
  15. I would like to thank the club member, sorry I don't recall your name, who made me a T bar and passed to Adam to deliver. Many thanks, just advise me how much I owe you and where to send it and it will be done. Many thanks again Coddy

  22. Hi Paul, I had some of those seats on my Seahog, they worked ok but found the back was not high enough for me, being a tall person, and they did not give much side support. Much prefer the bucket seats on the Warrior, you know what they are like but cost a bit more. Coddy

    C-MAP

Hi Jack Yes I have a Navman 5500, great bit of kit. Bought my maps from the USA at the same time as the unit, however the cheapest I have seen is http://www.jgtech.co.uk/page3.htm?tp=CONTINUE+SHOPPING they are based in Weymouth. You sometimes see them for sale on ebay, worth a look. Regards Coddy
  24. Paul Just a thought, have you thought of a switch bank which has a splash proof clear lid? In an open area with sea spray and rain, I suspect you will experiance corrosion in the switch bank unless it is protected. Suggest you have a look at som rib craft and see how they have done the layout and style of switches etc. Regards Coddy
  25. Trendy? Trendy? My old flares will soon come back in fashion as well as the Tank top jumpers ready for the cool summer evenings. I was getting into 'Garage' music but the fuse went in the plug which is located in the garage! I just need to find a gold medalian on a long chain to hang around the stick on hairy chest wig! Wicked man! You cool dude! Coddy
