Best stuff is ginger! Get some ginger nuts (biscuits) and munch away! Even raw ginger works for sea sickness! You don't feel sleepy afterwards either! Coddy

Don't forget you can get an adaptor so that a hand held unit can use a normal VHF ariel on the boat. This will of course give you more distance Coddy

Hi Kam Sorry for the lack of reply but I have been away (work) so I am not always able to see forum. I will be at Baiter on Sunday so I will take any Cuttlefish you have left and 5lb squid if you have any. Sorry again for the delay in responding. I will send you a PM with my phone number if it helps. Regards Coddy

Hi Kam I belong to the IAC (Internet Fishing Club) and a number of people were after cuttlefish. It appears that they could not get regular supplies so I put out a request on another forum. If you can get some I am sure you would have customers. I would be able to freeze down some for you if you can get some. Due to the recent move I will not be able to fish the comp but I will be around to help in the registration/weigh in and any launch/recovery at Baiter if needed. Regards Coddy

Hi Charlie Thanks for the wine, we have not tasted it yet as we were too knackered and I am sure we would have fallen asleep after 1 glass each or even before we had finished the fist glass! I brought the boat home and managed to park it ok in the dark. It is nice to see her back on the drive again. Just need to be allowed to use her! Hi Mike I know what you mean about the flat cap brigade! WHY do they go sooo slowly? I can see you have an outbreak of speed cameras all around Dorset, I suppose the police are too busy chasing speeders on the non-existing motorways! I think I better sign up for a mind reading class so I can predict what they will do next before they think about it. Lord knows what it will be like on a Thursday when they all go and get their pensions! Regards Coddy

Hi I bought one of the square versions. I did look at these but as they are round I thought it would roll around in the tide/waves Whilst my one does not seem all that big, being oblong and that I have added some lead weight strips to the bottom of the frame, I feel that it would end up the right way round and not roll about. I have to say I have not tried mine yet but if you are interested I could bring it down next Sunday (competition day) and let you have a look. I do have to remmember where I packed however. Regards Coddy

Boat owners are more satisfied with their sex lives than landlubbers. This is one of the most remarkable results of recent study in America that compared boat owners and people who do not own a boat in relation to their own perception of happiness and health. Boat owners assess the general quality of their lives higher (+5%) then others. There are therefore also more content with their achievements, their family ties and with the way they enjoy life. 67 % of the boat owners believe that owning a boat has actually contributed to their happiness. The greatest advantages of navigating according to them in spending time outdoors (89%) en on the water (85%), the possibility to leave behind the stress of daily life (79%) and the tranquillity (75%). And there improved sex lives no doubt! There is nothing I can add except where does the fish come to play in all this? Regards Coddy

Found this site and as Bob is doing some fishing knots I thought about rope knots that might be useful Check this web page http://www.korpegard.nu/knot/index.php Those who were in the Scouts may recall some of them. Regards Coddy

I found this interesting snippet of information The deepest ocean is the Pacific Ocean, with an average depth of 4.028 metres and the deepest part of the Pacific Ocean is the Marianen trough, near Guam, between Japan and New Zealand. In 1951 the British investigation ship Challenger II measured a depth of 10.923 metres (35.813 feet) in the Marianen trough, which is called Challenger Deep. In 1960 the bathyscaphe Trieste, with Jacques Picard and John Wals aboard, dived into Challenger Deep to 10.910 metres deep. The Marianen trough is 11.770 metres deep at its deepest known point, whereas the Everest is only 8.848 metres high. If you were to throw an iron ball of 1 kg into the ocean it would reach the bottom of the Mariana trough after a descent of 64 minutes. So how much lead would you need to hold bottom??????? Regards Coddy

Hi Adam What you need to know is the current draw (Amps) of the lights will be. The other thing to determin is are they DC or 12v AC? If DC you will need a rectifier to smooth out the AC cycle wave. I would suggest a trip to B&Q or a lighting store to see what they have available. DO NOT take the other half otherwise you will be in there for a least 3hrs+ and come out with loads of things to fit around the house. Alternitivly let her drive you down so you can pop in to save on car park fees! Regards Coddy

Hiya Rose Welcome to THE club in the South. I look forward to reading some of your posts. Regards Coddy

I did see lots of pritty girls walking by the house when I was waiting for the agent to turn up so it can't be all bad! You can't beat a bit of window shopping .................. if you try to touch .......... brings water to my eyes!!!!!!!! Coddy

Good luck Rich Shame about you not being able to grip anything as I might have bought you a pint when I come down to my first club meeting in December At least you will not have to buy many Xmas presents as the strain of digging into a pocket could do permenant damage! Get well soon mate Coddy

Hi Charlie No I didn't do one for Pan Pan. The reason was that if "I" was not giving the emergency call it may confuse others who do not know or understand the differances who might use the radio if I was disabled or missing! Whilst it might be "technicaly" wrong to use a Mayday call for a Pan Pan, it will make others sit up and listen. It does me ............... but I am just nosey! A good point about checking for full power, I took the info directly from the RYC Day Skipper course notes when I was doing my ticket and it did not mention about full power. Then again I always leave my set on full power anyway. Coddy

Hi again Adam GOOD NEWS!!! Found a house to rent and it has enough room to fit the boat AND all the cars We will now be in Boadstone so even quicker to the slip! Coddy

Hi all For those who want a Mayday card go to my web site http://fishing_boats.tripod.com/ click on Boat safety and at the bottom of the page is a click position for a form or a zip file if you want to download it. Fill in the relevent spaces and then go to a photocopier and strick it down from A4 to A5. Get it laminated and jobs done apart from putting on the boat! Hope this helps some of you Coddy ps If paul wants to add it to this web site he is more thn welcome to copy it
