Well after a bit of a false start Lady Christine has now left Poole for Cowes at the Isle of Wight. The new owner asked if I would bring her over to Yarmouth and so on Sunday at 8.30am I slipped her mooring and headed out of Poole harbour for the last time. My wife, Sue, suggested that she would like to come along to keep me company!!!!!!!! For someone who is not that interested in boats let alone needing a calm sea I was surprised by the issuing order. So off we went accross Poole bay at a steady 15kts with tide and wind following us. All was a nice run until we got to Hurst Castle and the race where the Solent meets Christchurch Bay, this was quite lumpy but did not bother us too much, biggest problem was a bl**dy big power boat of the G&T brigade came steaming at us at about 30kts on the wrong side of the road with a wake as big as his ego. We were soon at Yarmouth and moored up at the short stay pontoon and waited for the new owner to turn up. After a few formalities we walked away and head for a cup of coffee and the ferry back to Lymington. Sorry to see her go but needs must, however I do hope to have another boat soon as I have paid for a mooring until next April. Dave

Hi Dave Have look at my website, link at the bottom of this message and look at the VHF radio menu. If it looks like the NASA Singray 5600 then that is the same as mine. Ask away any questions and I will try to answer them. Dave

Thanks guys for the offers, I may well take them up sooner rather than later. She is off to the Isle of Wight, Cowes in fact so those that venture around the East side I expect you may see her. Not sure exactly when she will leave Poole as weather and tides will decide dates but I am sure it will keep the new owner happy. I have now got to empty her of all my bits and pieces, I expect that will lift her out of the water a bit with just the leads comming off! Dave

How to Tell the Sex of a Fly A woman walked into the kitchen to find her Husband stalking around with a fly swatter. "What are you doing?" She asked. "Hunting Flies" He responded. "Oh! Killing any?" She asked. "Yep, 3 males, 2 Females," he replied. Intrigued, she asked. "How can you tell them apart?" He responded, "3 were on a beer can, 2 were on the phone". Dave

Good luck to all those going to Weymouth for the week-end. The weather looks reasonable and I am sure they will be a few good stories to report. Don't forget that the club waters are up to Portland Bill, anything caught West does not count if you bag a monster for the club records. Good hunting and I hope not too many have sore heads on Sunday Dave

Hi Mark Welcome to the club Here is a link to some of the well known spots in the bay and around the area. http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=5646 Without sounding condescending, if you have little boating experiance I would suggest buddying up with another boat. We all seem to use channel 6 on the VHF so give a shout for any PBSBAC boats and I am sure you will get a response. I would also suggest you rig your anchor to "trip" as many of the marks can be anchor graveyards. If you are not sure how to do this just ask or do a search on the forum and I am sure there will be plenty of info. If you are experianced then you know all of the above. Do take care when going out through the harbour entrance and DON'T try to go in front of the chain ferry, many have tried and not got away with it. Have a good safe and enjoyable trip and we look forward to hearing how you got on. It doesn't matter if you blank, we all get those days. Dave Club Safety Officer

Hi Jim Unfortunately I was made redundant again recently so she has to go as it is a luxury I cannot afford at the moment. Shame really as I have just got her all sorted and running sweet. Must admit I will go back to a trailer boat next time however. Dave

Hi all Having found out why the raw water pump packed up on me last Sunday, the circlip which holds the drive shart snapped so came apart, I have ordered the parts required but was unsure about using any lubrication when rebuilding it. What grease is best? Obviously a waterproof version but what type of grease Silicon, high melting point or something else. The pump is driven from the engines fresh water pump so spins in the region of 3000+ rpm Any thoughts from anyone? Dave

Hi Rob Welcome to the forum and I hope you join the club soon as it is well worth the help you get. Your boat looks good but can I make a couple of suggestions after reading the specs. 1/ Get a differant anchor, suggest a Bruce look-a-like at about 7.5kg 2/ Rig the anchor to trip if it gets stuck 3/ You need approx the length of boat in chain so double the length you have as it is the chain that keeps the anchor secure 3/ Increase the length of your anchor warp as 50ft is not very much and in any swell it pull the anchor out unless you are in really shallow water. I would suggest 100mtrs would cover most situations you will find around, if you have more so much the better. I hope you don't mind these suggestions, you may be very experianced with boats in which case I am sure you knew all of the above and are making improvements already. I would not like to read of anyone having problems in the local area even if they were a club member or not. I would also suggest you get the boat SeaChecked by the RNLI, this is free and they have come up with some very good ideas regarding safety on small craft. Dave

Hi all Just so you all know , it will be carnage all round the island (IOW) on Saturday. so if you can get quite a few miles off shore do it or go west. Dave

Looks more like "cows bits" to me!! Anyway all those bread sticks will get too soggy up there Brian, with all that metalwork I doubt you will need a radar reflector Dave
