Hi Graham I have used the Lazy Line on a number of boats and it is easy to operate. 1/ Obtain a length of anchor warp that is NOT the length of your craft but so it reaches amidships of the cockpit. Blue ployprop (floating rope is good). 2/ Fix one end of the rope to the winching eye of the boat before you set off and the other has a heavy duty carabineer secured in the cockpit so it does not fall in the water. 3/ When anchoring, let the anchor, chain and warp over the side descend under control. Don't just throw the lot overboard otherwise chain & rope will tangle with the anchor. When the anchor hits the bottom and you have got to your position, tie a loop in the anchor rope and clip the carabineer to the loop and let out the anchor rope until the strain is taken up by the lazy line from the bow of the boat. The remaining anchor warp is still in the cockpit of the boat. 4/ When it comes to retrieve the anchor, you just pull on the anchor rope to bring the lazy line to the side of the boat as you SLOWLY motor forward allowing you to pick up the main anchor rope allowing you full control of where the anchor rope is. 5/ You can now drive the boat a little faster and use your Alderney buoy set up to lift the anchor in the normal way. Hope this clears the mud a bit, it takes almost as long to write this as lifting the anchor! I would suggest you try a few times with crew just to get the hang of the process but I have done it many times on my own. If you fancy someone to practice with give me a call and I would be happy to meet up with you. We could do a practice or two in the harbour, well out of the way of others to gain confidence. Dave

Hi all Saw this and thought it might be useful to someone EBay Item number: 380322524204 I have one myself and found it very useful If you use C-Map NT+ charts and would like to download waypoints and marks or just study the local area it is a good bit of kit. You will need to plug your chart card into the reader to see detail of the chart and a user card is used to store and transfer marks/waypoints to the plotter. Dave

Just for those who use the Nuffield tip in Poole, my son goes drifting in his car on race circuits and I have the job of dumping the scrap tyres. I pop down to the recycling depot and put them in the correct skip and it is free. I am not just talking of 1 or 2 tyres but 4 or 6 at a time! Dave ps Martin I will give you a call Monday
-
Hi Martin If the wheel and tyre is still available I would like it please. Dave

Students at a local school were assigned to read two books, 'Titanic' & 'My Life' by Bill Clinton. One student turned in the following book report, with the proposition that they were nearly identical stories! His cool professor gave him an A+ for this report. Titanic: cost - $29.99 Clinton: cost - $29.99 Titanic: Over 3 hours to read Clinton : Over 3 hours to read Titanic: The story of Jack and Rose, their forbidden love, and subsequent catastrophe. Clinton : The story of Bill and Monica, their forbidden love, and subsequent catastrophe. Titanic: Jack is a starving artist. Clinton : Bill is a bullshit artist. Titanic: In one scene, Jack enjoys a good cigar. Clinton : Ditto for Bill. Titanic: During the ordeal, Rose's dress gets ruined. Clinton : Ditto for Monica. Titanic: Jack teaches Rose to spit. Clinton : Let's not go there. Titanic: Rose gets to keep her jewelry. Clinton : Monica is forced to return her gifts Titanic: Rose remembers Jack for the rest of her life. Clinton : Clinton remembers Monica for the rest of his life. Titanic: Rose goes down on a vessel full of seamen. Clinton : Monica...ooh, let's not go there, either. Titanic: Jack surrenders to an icy death. Clinton : Bill goes home to Hilary - basically the same thing.

At the moment this is just a proposal as I can imagine the objections will be huge especially from the enviromental groups. What surprises me is that they think that this construction will have a limited impact on the harbour and its envrioment. I am sure if someone wanted to build just a small slipway or clubhouse that it would be rejected as quickly as the idea was proposed. Perhaps I am getting too cynical in my old age! (no comments please Jim ) Dave

Hi All I am in the process of overhauling my outboard, a Yamaha C40 2-stroke twin. Not sure of the exact model or year as the serial plate is missing. However, I have removed the lower gear box and leg to overhaul the impellor and now need to remove the powerhead. I have removed 8 bolts that hold the engine onto the base plate but it does not want to move. Is there some other bolts I might have missed? I have looked in the manual but it is not clear on what else to remove. Can anyone help me? Thanks Dave
