As some may know I keep my boat on a mooring by the RNLI and as they had thier 2 day open at the week-end I had to get my boat out before 9am Saturday. I booked a couple of nights at the Dolphin Quay Marina. It was so nice just to stepp off the boat onto a pontoon. Anyway I was on my way back to the mooring on Monday AM when I noticed the oil pressure dropping and then the oil warning light came on! I instantly turned the engine off which then meant I had no power and very little steerage. I started to drift into shore and just missed 2 brand new Sun seekers ( ) and get onto one of the paths that the dingy users use to launch their tenders. Opened the engine cover and found oil everywhere, none on the dipstick of course but could not see where it had come from. I carry a little oil on board so tipped this into the engine and took a chance and started the engine, it soon became obvious where the oil was from, a small high pressure hose from the engine to the turbo bearings had split apart! Out came the auxillary and tried to start it. After a couple of hours trying all I could whilst on the boat I gave up. So secured the boat, took the auxillary home and left a note to say I had broken down and a contact number if needed. Back home I stripped the carb down, again, cleaned and re-set the points, cleaned the plug. Put it on my engine stand and pulled ................ away she went first time! It was now too late to go back down as the tide was ebbing and my mooring dries out. Tuesday I could not get down as I had an appointment to go to so had to leave it until today. Down at the boat at 9am fit the auxillary and it started first pull again, let it warm up and then headed for the mooring and found out that I need to get a bigger hp engine, I got there ok but s..l..o..w..l..y Managed to strip the pipe off and get a pipe and fixing made up at Pirtek so all I have to do is fit it and put it all back together. Boats who would have them? Any ideas what is the best way to soak up all the oil in the bilge? Dave

Trev Mike had Frisky cleaned back to gel I think by blasting I think the hardest bit will be removing the undercoat, if you have used self erodding antifoul it should be fairly clean after 12 months. A cheaper way is to moor her in shallow water with a sandy bottom and let the boat movement do the rest. Dave

Hi Adam Just a thought, it might be work checking that one of the internal hoses does not have a leak which is squirting onto the electrics. Reason for saying this I had a mariner O/B and when I fitted a stern boarding ladder the wash spray went up and over the hood of the engine. There was a slight leak in the seal and I had a misfire situation. Trouble was it took ages to find out as it was dry by the time I got to look under the hood. Dave

Hi Mark I would suggest a couple of posible problems 1/ I would suspect the connections for all the equipment may have a poor connections or the deck wash connections themselves. 2/ The battery is in a poor state of charge and the deck wash is drawing all the power. I would suspect the wiring is the problem, bit like brake lights dimly flashing when indicators are used on a car. Suggest you check/run a seperate wires from deck wash to battery, via a switch, and see if this cures the problem. The deck wash may well be getting its power from a common terminal or the return feed. Hope all the above makes sence Dave

In a display of bunny-boiling solidarity a serial philanderer has had his penis superglued to his stomach. The pre-meditated adhesive assault took place at the Lakeview Motel near Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin after it was discovered that the victim, Donessa Davis, was cheating on his wife with three other women. Davis was lured to the motel by lover, Therese Ziemann and agreed to be tied to the bed for kinky sex. Once the four-timer was secured she sent text messages to his wife and two other girlfriends who arrived at the room shortly after. One of the girlfriends, Wendy Sewel then asked Davis 'Which one do you love more?' before Ziemann punched him in the face and superglued his penis to his stomach. Ziemann and Davis had been lovers for the past two months after finding each other online. She claims she fell in love with the married man and had paid for the same room ever since. She also claimed to have given him around $3000. Last week she was contacted by Davis

OK OK I will admit my mistake! I had two identical cables and tried to join the transducer to the speed paddle wheel! (Doh!) Connected the correct cable and I am back working again, not ideal but at least I see a depth which is better than nothing. Thanks all for the advice given Dave

Hi all I removed the transducer from my Garmin 250C f/f as the fixing part had broken off its holder. I then tried to remount the transducer onto the hull. My problem is I had to cut the wire from to re-mount the unit, when I connected it all up the F/F says it is in Simulation mode. Looking throught the handbook this means it is not registering/seeing a transducer. Looks like I am going to try to go from pin to pin to see if there is a bad connection unless I am missing something? Has anyone else had a similar problem with Garmin and how did you overcome the problem? Dave

Hi all Got up early, for me anyway, and set off in Lady C for the first time fishing in 2 months! Tried out by Sandbanks first thing but nothing, then round to Peveril again nothing. Thanks to Carl on Overdraft found our mackerel of the year!!!!! Out to the Sadles and Bill was into more mackerel and a Red Gurnard I caught a larger Red Gurnard but it was not on a lure so doesn't count. As said by others, went close inshore for shelter but found nothing so went into the harbour and bill managed the smallest Bream I have seen for years. So score for Lady C was; Bill 4+ mackerel, 1 Red Gurnard and 1 Bream = 21 points Dave 3 mackerel Was well pleased with the results of repairs on the boat, got 20kts and revs up so just need the weather now. Hi Mark Good to hear from you again. Glad everything is working out for you and the family. Boat looks great and so does the fishing. Been to Auckland on business a couple of times and sat in a cafe near the harbour, it does look a bit better than Poole for fishing! Look forward to hearing more from you on your new boat. All the best Coddy
