  1. Hi Ziplex, Not difficult to guess you're a beach man with that name. Anways, welcome aboard. If you are intending to stay within Poole Harbour, try these spots: Drift the main entrance to the harbour between the Chain Ferry and Brownsea Island. Keep well clear of the Ferry Crossing and be careful during peak times 'cus the entrance can be like the M3!! Best fishing early morning or evening for the bigger specimens of bass. Spinning and sandeels. Note that you cannot anchor in the main channel. In front of Brownsea Castle around the pier area, drift for small pollack, pout and wrasse on worm baits, bouncing just off bottom. The Wych channel which runs around the east and north side of Brownsea Island. Find a place to anchor up and fish into the channel. Rag will take school bass and flatties. The area in front of Blue Lagoon in the shallows. Worms baits will take schoolies and flatties. There are loads of other places, but try these to begin with, and keep a look out for where other boats are fishing. Baiter is your best choice for launching, but avoid extreme low tides. Note that Poole Harbour has a double tide each day. cheers Bob F.
  2. Beautiful!!
  3. Cheers Charlie. Quick work on adding the silver eel.
  4. Interesting idea, Paul.
  5. You have at least 12 so far. Paul D and Mad Mike. Adam and James. Bob and Little Rob. Martin and Dean. Kim and Paul J Charlie and Dan
  6. Splash-Out followed Blue Warrior out across the Ledge with young Robert as the sole crew. Big John chickend out the night before... Stoped at the bream mark and immediately picked up 4 bream, 4 ballan wrasse, 4 pout and a bonus strap conger. Robert started getting an iffy stomach so I headed back in and fished just off Hengistbury Groyne and picked up a cockcoo wrasse (doesn't count as another species). It was still a bit choppy at the Groyne so nipped across to Barton-on-Sea and anchored off the beach. The only bite I had turned out to be a Silver Eel. Charlie, Silver Eels are not on the list, so do they count?? Robert still wasn't too well, but we had to wait it out until there was enough water to get back up the river. Started back in 2 hrs after LW and only just managed to get up the river. Anchored up and fished for Mullet. Got two on the spinner and one on a ledger. Lost a bloddy good one!! So final tally was: 4 bream 4 wrasse 4 pout 1 conger 3 mullet 1 silver eel (not counted) I make that 77 points. Young Robert blanked, despite trying hard, but his stomach just wasn't up to it.
  7. Paul, if you are thinking of a SS prop you need to be careful with the size. It is not a 1:1 comparison with an aluminium. If you go to SS it will need to be smaller. Bob F.
  8. Paul J, take Kim's offer, I have a full boat for tomorrow. cheers Bob F.
  9. Splash-out will be going out from Wick at 8am. John, little Rob and me. Bob F

You got it! Berkley (I think) Vanish.
  11. Bloody 'ell!! You know me better than I know me. Yes, it was the Solent trip, wasn't it.
  12. As some of you will know, the tip of my Fladen 20-30lb rod broke during the 48 hr comp. Yeserday I sent an email to YYS International and an hour later I had a phone call from a lovely lass saying a new rod tip would be in the post next day, free of charge. That's what I call service!!! Thanks YYS, if your listening.

Good news. I luv the stuff. Bob F.
  18. Not too up on technical requirements for cars, but it looks like you've covered it all. I'd re-think the 3 door vs 5 door, though. Just about everyone I have talked to that have a 3 door wished they had got the 5 door. They would have prefered the extra space available in the 5 door. Bob F.
  19. You're giving away your age, Whippet. Or in need of help from the men in white coats.
  20. Newboy, yes you've got my vote. I'd prefer a car-like 4x4 like the volvo. However, FPO prefered the Sukuki cus it was higher up and therefore easier to get in and out. Bob F.

    Keel Band

Cheers guys. Good tips and advice. Coddy, I use one of those large, plastic, flexible, yellow, builders baskets for my anchor warp. Adam will know what they are called. Works pretty well. Can be quashed into a tight corner. Bob F.

    Keel Band

So, has anyone fitted their owm keel band, yet? Coddy, did you ever fit the brass keel band? What's the technique for fitted a stainless steel band? Are they easy to bend to shape? Do you need special drills and countersinks? What do you use to seal the screw holes?? cheers Bob F.
  24. I recon James would still try giving it a go. The jigging would be easy at least...
