Hi Les, Just to clarify again, your crew does not have to be a club member. They can be non members and even non fishers. We just make it a requirement not to fish alone for safety reasons. If your crew are not members they cannot enter the comp, of course. Good luck in the comp.

Charlie has confirmed that mini species do not count. Bob F.

All, The Competition Committee confirm that Juniors will be eligable for all the prizes at the reduced entry fee. There will not be a separate Junior Prize, so I correct what I had stated earlier. Our intent is to attract more junior members to the club and to the comptetions, and not to separate them from the adult members. This is consistant with all our other club competitions. We only have separate prizes for the juniors in the November Open competition, as this is not a members comp. So, all the entry fees and donated prizes will be lumped together to form a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize that everyone registered is eligable for. There will not be a separate junior prize. The 48Hr Competition Committee.

"when not in competitions, which I believe state that no more than 3 hooks should be in use." Is that 3 hooks per rod or 3 hooks per person (e.g. if you are fishing 3 rods you can only have 1 hook per rod. So fishing 4 rods would be breaking club rules, if you wanted to claim a club record)???? Bob F.

Just a reminder to everyone about the competition rules: You can commit and give the money to any of the committtee members by Sunday or shortly after. You will NOT be eligable for the competition unless you have paid prior to the competition or given your commitment to fish. In other words, you have to register to be eligable for the competition. Registation is just a simply matter of telling one of the competition committee that you intend to fish. The competition committee are: Adam F Paul J Bob F Unfortunately, there will be no refunds on your money paid or with your registration without payment. If you register without payment but do not fish (for whatever reason) we would still like you to honor your entry fee. The competition must go ahead regardless. If the weather is bad the competition will still go ahead, even if it means fishing from your boat tied to a pontoon. # you must fish with at least one other member (for safety reasons and to verify your catch). # All competitions can now be fished with a TOTAL of two hooks [Pennel rigs and trebles hooks count as one] and a MAXIMUM OF TWO RODS [One hook per rod]. No other rods ARE TO BE IN USE while fishing the competitions. # the 48hr competition can be fished at any time from from 1600 Friday to 1600 Sunday. So, you can fish for 1 hr or 48 hrs or any other time and as many trips as you like during the weekend. # Catches should be reported to Adam, Paul J or Bob F at anytime during the 48 hrs, but by 1700 on Sunday at the latest. Any fish reported after 1700 on Sunday will not be eligable. If you cannot contact us, please give your catch details to any other committee member. # BEST SINGLE SPECIMEN WINS based on the Wessex Region specimen sizes (see record list). I will check with Charlie, but unless otherwise stated, Mini species are not eligable. # Fish can be weighed onboard and returned, we trust our Members. # This will be the Club Summer Prize Competition and is open to paid up members only. It will also be a counter for the BFM Suzuki Competition (1st of 4). # Entry fee of

Looks like a Red according to the pictures of a Tub and a Red in the Aquarium project. Last year young Robert caught one of these on feathers whilst mackerel fishing. He'd been dragging the feathers along the bottom. It was pretty big too, at least 2lb, and definitely a Red and not a Tub. Didn't realise it could've been a record (how many times to you hear that???!!). Which brings up another point...if a fish is caught on feathers, can it be claimed as a club record, or even a British record??? Bob F.

...also, do a search for "bream rigs" in Tackle Talk and you will see a large posting there about the various rigs we use. Bob F.

First confirm that your Matrix FF/GPS is able to send/receive "NMEA" signals. I'm not familiar with the Matrix, so I don't know if it accepts these signals. Your Matrix documentation should tell you if any of the connectors provide and "NMEA OUT" and/or an "NMEA IN". Bascially you need to connect the "NMEA OUT" from the Matrix to the "NMEA IN" on the 7100 VHF. And the "NMEA IN" from the Matrix to the "NMEA OUT" on the 7100 (if it has this facillity). You say the 7100 describes the signals as GPS + and GPS -. The GPS + will be the "NMEA IN" signal (receiving the GPS co-ordinates from your GPS), the GPS - will be the Ground or Earth lead. At least, this is my best guess. I've not seen them marked like this before. Then, in the setup menu for each instrument you need to set up the communication port so that they are sending "NMEA" signals. The default is usually "NONE". Bob F.

My NFSA membership expired on June 1st. I emailed the memebership secretary to ask if my membership automatically renewed (and debited my credit card) but have not got any reply. I don't want to renew on the web and then find out they also debited my account for the automatic renewal. It seems like they are still having issues with membership admin. We try to support them, but it aint arf hard work. Suppose I'll have to phone em. Bob F
