  1. I will be fishing Friday, Sat and Sunday. This wont be constant and is not set in stone, and will depend on the weather - if it is superb on Sunday I may head to the ripps.... More likely though: Friday night a short bassing/conger session on the ledge with Rach if the wind is light, with crew if it is above a F3. Sat - short day/eve trip or no trip... Sunday - Full day. I will have made a plan by Thurs.
  2. Just a quick reminder to let you all know it is your club's annual 48 hour Specimen Hunt this weekend. The original idea was to replicate the event last year where we used the Mariner Club for the presentation and had a few donated prizes - however due to the Burnham Club comp demanding much of my time recently on top of the other comps / events each weekend, we have not managed to organise these final details. Therefore the event will revert back to its original format this year. It is STILL
  3. Tompot Blenny - I think?
  4. James best fish 3lb 2oz
  5. As James said, we had a pretty good day and was sure that we had secured a place in the top 3 or 4...but on hearing how Dean's day went maybe not so! Anyway, we had a cracking day with sooo many fish! For the record my best went 2lb 8oz. We also had a couple of new species for BW - a Tompot blenny and a brace of 3 bearded rockling. The wind stayed quite polite with the odd F5/6 gust but about a steady 4 all day - it couldnt have been that bad as the kettle stayed on the stove and the bacon managed to get cooked!
  6. Blue against a grey sky will be ok...that seems to be the norm!!
  7. Just re-check the new forecast: Selsey Bill to Lyme Regis. 24 hour forecast: Wind: west or southwest 5, occasionally 6 at first. Weather: showers then rain. Visibility: moderate or good becoming moderate with fog patches. Sea State: moderate, occasionally rough at first. Outlook for the following 24 hours: Wind: west or southwest 5, perhaps 6 for a time, veering east 4 or 5. Weather: rain then fair. Visibility: moderate with fog patches becoming good. Sea State: moderate Has worsened since this morning, with no sign of any North in the wind and freshening to 5/6....not ideal to say the least! BW will still launch and make a run for the ledge, but I suspect a S/SW F5/6 will keep us well away - mullet fishing in the harbour it looks like.
  8. I bought a 1 pint metal bait dropper in the tackle shop today. Has a 2oz lead on it, plus the weight of the body - so 5oz unloaded, about a 1lb loaded depending what with. Cost me
  9. I would rather have a blue penant with the club logo - I dont think I would bother if it was the yellow and red one....
  10. BW will be out, launching from Christchurch with James on board. See you out there.
  11. Selsey Bill to Lyme Regis. 24 hour forecast: Wind: west or southwest 5 or 6, decreasing 4 overnight. Weather: occasional showers. Visibility: moderate or good. Sea State: moderate or rough, decreasing slight or moderate overnight. Outlook for the following 24 hours: Wind: south or southwest 4 increasing 5 to 7, veering northwest by Monday morning. Weather: rain at times. Visibility: moderate occasionally poor. Sea State: slight or moderate, increasing rough for a time Aint looking too good!....
  12. Is it on? The forecast is not looking fantastic at the moment? F4-5 W.... When will a decision be made?
  13. Better late then never - been doing to much fishing this weekend to post all of the catch reports! Had a corporate day at Dever Springs in Andover on Friday - had a cracking day and finished with 4 lovely Rainbows best going 6lb 10oz all taken on a 9' 4-5 weight rod, floating line. 2 on Grey Wolf dry fly, 2 taken on a Green Damsel Nymph. Adam
  14. We decided to have a crack at the tope on Sunday before trying to catch something to weigh in as we were round that way....1st cast and this beasty comes along while I was sat counting the entry money! Weighed 34lb at sea but looked bigger.
  15. and his thorny...
  16. Dad's Smoothhound
  17. Yes, after the Burnham comp on Sunday I also fished the next 2 days!! Rach wanted to have a crack, so we popped out on Monday for a few hours. The ledge produced bream, wrasse, pout etc... the wind then got up and Rach's sealegs stopped working so we came in to sunbathe in the harbour for a few hours. Today (tues) I promised to take my father fishing as I have had BW for over a year now and he still hasnt been out....he only like it calm and wanting to get a band in the rod I opted for a trip to the solent for the bream. Plenty of shelter, a short run to the grounds and sporting smoothies - hopefully. Gordon and paul on Neo also joined us. Mackerel were scarce of the Sconce buoy we only caught 5 so we headed down to Sowley for a crack at the smuts. The weed was OK to begin with as the tide was falling away and the smuts obliged almost straight away, nothing big, but up to 8lb in weight. A nice 8lb Thornback then obliged. The tide then begin to build and made the fishing evry hard - maybe we should have picked a smaller tide?? We had another few fish before Graham (dad) hooked a real beast of a fish on my 30lb class gear. He fought it for maybe 10 mins with it making several searing runs against a tight drag on the TLD15. Finally we had it under the boat, but it then tangled in the other rods making giving it line almost impossible. A brief glimpse showed us a good uppper double smoothy - but then it straightend the hook - GUTTED! Anyway, the weather behaved, we caught a few fish and dad had a good day. Shame - 3 days for work now before I can go again! Roll on the weekend and light winds!
  18. Its not too dodgy, Ive tried it several times with little succes - it looks perfect, and tried stormies but no takes. The water is very coloured and their is usually lots of weed. That said Tomcat the Lymington charter does very well their for the bass.
  19. Many thanks to all who made the effort and were able to attend the 2nd return leg of our friendly comp with Burnham Sea Angling Association. The weather was perfect after the F5-6 on Saturday and an oily calm sea greeted us early Sunday morning. 57 Anglers and 28 boats booked in for the match which surprised even me! This meant a very heahtly prize pool for the 6 heaviest fish. The fishing was pretty hard overall to everyones surpise, but a few decent fish came back to the scales and it was nice to see the BSAA lads catching fish they never sea back at home - Garfish, Mackerel, Pollock, Bream etc.... Personally on BW with Gordon as crew we had a good days fishing but nothing to keep the prize money in my pocket! We headed west and stuggled in the tide for tope - 1st cast I took at 34lber, lovely fish and great scrap but no good for the scales! We then headed off to a wreck, where we figured the large tides would keep the divers off. After 3 attempts we anchored correctly and the eels came thick and fast for the 2 hours we had left. We ended up with a dozen or so but nothing over 25lb. Final result for the day was: 1st - Richard Swain - Bull Huss - 11lb 9oz - 115.63% 2nd - D Teamer - Garfish - 1lb 3oz - 95% 3rd - B Page - Black Bream - 3lb 2oz - 89.29% 3rd - M Bowden - Black Bream - 3lb 2oz - 89.29% 5th - P Russell - Black Bream - 2lb 15oz - 83.93% 5th - J Geoffery - Black Bream - 2lb 15oz - 83.93% I think you will all agree that the format has worked very well for this competition and wehope to formalise this and make it an annual event each year. Thanks also to Charlie for helping with the scores after work. Adam

  22. They are arnt they!...??....
  23. Jimbo and I went for a short afternoon session on DR today. Started on Xray, but was dog city, so after 2 hours moved over to our bream hole. 4 of the Lymington charter boats were already anchored in out not so secret mark, so we nestled in between them. Bites from the off - I ended up with 6 bream to 2lb 10oz, a few wrasse, a Goldsinney Wrasse - a first of these rare fish for me! and the usual pout, poor cod etc... Back home in time to catch the missues home from work!
  24. Amasing?? What does that mean??...... Surely Amazing?, but then again the b%^dy frog and the word amazing dont go in the same sentance!!
  25. Yep, fine by me - although the meeting is now the 9th as the venue is prior booked on the 2nd. Adam
