  2. Martin, Bob may need a place, dont know if his boat will be back in time???
  3. Rich, yep on with me. Can you bring the Hi-Lux??
  4. Agreed! Was very strange launching BW with no rods aboard, but getting home and not having to jet wash rag and mackeral off the boat was nice! Really enjoyable day, and made a lovely change! - oh!, and great company! Fishing this weekend though!!

    Cable??

Right....went down to towsure and bought a battery yesterday. Bargin - 85ah, 28 quid! Now I need some cable to wire it in. I have changed my original plans as I dont have alot of room under the transom, so the batt is going in the console locker. Good as it puts weight up the front and is out of the way, but bad as it is 5.5m from the other batt and the isolation switch!!! I need 5.5m of + and 5.5m of - cable. Where from??????? Also the clamps and crimps?????? Also do I need to fuse this? I have fuses after the batt and before the engine and switch panel, do I need another??????
  6. A 4WD Rolling road will test it out - that is the usual method, I would have thought they would have suggested it??...Mind you a session is not too cheap, and a 4WD Rolling road is fairly hard to find. Basically this will produce a torque graph showing the power transmission to all four wheels and how they perform. They can also adjust the rollers to stress differnet wheels / parts of the transmission. Adam
  7. Basically the Piddle and Frome will be 'owned' waters, either by private or club owners. You have to draw a line somewhere, and the tidal influence makes no difference- clay pool in xchurch is a good example of this. Yes, they are trying to stop illegal fish removal, ie Sea Trout etc, but more importantly, someone is paying to fish / own the water, so people encrouching and fishing illegally are not welcome. Anyway - since when has using nets become 'fishing'!!!!
  8. Marc, A book I have just bought details a 'beach launching trolley' as they have no choice than to beach launch this unit converts the standard 2 wheeled unit into a 4 wheeled affair. I dont think you can buy them (maybe worth scanning the web) but fairly simple to knock up I'd think. The attached file shows what I mean. It attaches to the trailer hitch.
  9. Launce??

    Cabin Light

HMMM, A little too blue for me. I suppose I should go for red - to preserve night vision!!! Can I get a neon, that gives a white light??

    Cabin Light

Hmmm, food for thought. Sounds a good idea, as not permenatly fixing to the boat. Also like the idea of neon not draining as much juice.

    2nd Battery

Right - Decided to go for the 2nd battery. But where to go? I dont want quite as big a unit as the 1st batt, and I am weight concious. Anyone have any suggestions for a bargin battery? Also - Battery cable, what size and where from?
  15. Famous this month also - Mr Billy Short and his Plaice!
  16. Use the links Mike posted during our discussions on 4x4's - www.parkers.co.uk I think. Great for comparing and reading reviews on cars. Personally I think cars are a very personal decision - do your research, look at the main dealers then look privately, take into consideration others views, but dont use them as gospel - your needs will probably be very different.
  17. Thanks Paul, I will do that!
  18. It needs to be a girly car - its for the missus, not me! Paul - I think you will be OK with the HRV, although we were discussing today, and think that your rig will weight more than 500kg - more like 1000kg when loaded. - I would ahve the trailer converted, its alot safter anyway. The law does actually state that any rig weighing over 500kg MUST be braked - we found this out last year when we were pulled over. Therfore I suggest that your rig could be illegal at present. Time for a visit to a weigh bridge??
  19. Coddy, Havent really had the chance yet to monitor it, but I will do and report my findings. (next Sat?) Last trip was out to Anvil point. I reckon I did about 25 miles in all, maybe a little more with all the running around, and used approx 20 quid in fuel. This is a very rough estimate though. Ill post when I find out.
  20. I quite often use a spinning rod for the breams - this would be about a 8oz TC set-up I suppose - 6lb braided mainline and a 6lb flurocarbon hooklength. A 1oz drilled bullet completes the set-up. Now, This IS fun bream fishing!!!!
  21. Just to give you all an update. We are still on for the 29th May. Tides are HW - 7am, LW - 1pm, HW - 8PM. I think this is pretty much ideal and will give us enough water to come in and out as well as giving good fishing times. So far I have: BW - Adam and Rich SO - Bob and Rob Maverick - Crew TBA Neo - Paul and Mike Newboy are you coming with your boat? Can we find him a spot if not? Enticer? - Bob can you enquire? Also does anyone know anyone in the club who maybe would like to come but doesnt use the forum, I can phone them. - The more the merrier! PS- is our local guide coming? Mr Dave UK???
  22. I edited it earlier...just to confuse Bob even more!
  23. Youre probably right! However, I do have the plotter set to UST, and is in Auto mode for daylight saving, but still it gives me the time an hour delayed. Weird!
