  1. Coddy, Havent really had the chance yet to monitor it, but I will do and report my findings. (next Sat?) Last trip was out to Anvil point. I reckon I did about 25 miles in all, maybe a little more with all the running around, and used approx 20 quid in fuel. This is a very rough estimate though. Ill post when I find out.
  2. I quite often use a spinning rod for the breams - this would be about a 8oz TC set-up I suppose - 6lb braided mainline and a 6lb flurocarbon hooklength. A 1oz drilled bullet completes the set-up. Now, This IS fun bream fishing!!!!
  3. Just to give you all an update. We are still on for the 29th May. Tides are HW - 7am, LW - 1pm, HW - 8PM. I think this is pretty much ideal and will give us enough water to come in and out as well as giving good fishing times. So far I have: BW - Adam and Rich SO - Bob and Rob Maverick - Crew TBA Neo - Paul and Mike Newboy are you coming with your boat? Can we find him a spot if not? Enticer? - Bob can you enquire? Also does anyone know anyone in the club who maybe would like to come but doesnt use the forum, I can phone them. - The more the merrier! PS- is our local guide coming? Mr Dave UK???
  4. I edited it earlier...just to confuse Bob even more!
  5. Youre probably right! However, I do have the plotter set to UST, and is in Auto mode for daylight saving, but still it gives me the time an hour delayed. Weird!
  6. Just to let you all know, the details for the 48hr Species Hunt are almost complete. You will need to book in and preferably pay before the day. You can book in either by: Phoning me, Bob F or Paul J, emailing any of us, or posting on the forum. Entry will be
  7. On Thurs we were a bit stumped???? The tide predictor on my Plotter gave a different reading to the Poole tide book?? Anyone know why?
  8. I think Bob will agree with me here - but my Warrior, with engine and fuel etc onboard will weigh around 1050kgs all in - I would think the Alaska would be very similar? This is qouted on the paperwork Warrior supply. I would think your boat will weigh maybe slightly less, but I would say a trailering weight of around 800kgs will be right. This is the issue that has put us off the HRV, we really liked it, but it BW would be too heavy as per Honda's ratings. In a bit of a dilema at the mo. Really like the Freelander, best looking 4x4 on the market, nice features, nice prices etc, but am slightly put off by the bad press, that said I have heard alot of good things also. Other options?...Rav4 - only like the new models, out of our price range, CRV - looks too boring, X-trail, too dear, Grand Vitara - rach not too keen. I feel that we will just do some research and go for a Freelander.
  9. Wick???? Dont you mean Baiter?
  10. Will ask the FPO.....we have a trail-a-way planned for the 29th, so might be pushing it!
  11. No not even a consolation prize!!
  12. Just returned home from a hectic day's toping with Jimbo. Headed out about 3 miles off Anvil at 7am this morning - early start, to catch the 1st slack. Mackeral were scarce but not impossible and in about an hour we had 30ish. The action came thick and fast with tope hitting the baits before they got to the bottom on occasions!, double hook-ups were common, and one one occasion we had all 3 rods in play at once - we darent put down more than one each!!! Tackle ranged from 50lb class gear and 2.5lb of lead at the peak of tide, to 6lb class and 4oz on the slack - great fun!!! We had over 30 fish, biggest went 24lb 40z to me! The day was almost perfect!, only being blighted by getting my annchor caught in an unmarked pot off dancing ledge - I tried to motor it out for over 1/2 hour with no luck. Finally I went to cut it, only to realise the hook wasnt stuck, but in a pot! It took 3 of us to lift the beast, it also made me feel like slashing the bloody thing with my filleting knife, no bouys, no markers, just a run of freshly baited pots!, Bassturds!!! Im off to bed now though!, Tired, sunburnt and an aching groin - no butt pad you see!!!!
  13. Nice one Paul - good job. Brings back some fantastic memories!
  14. Silly Man!
  15. What do you mean who won it! - need you ask!

Your set up sounds perfect to me. I use a 9.5' 6-7 weight and it is fine.
  17. I wont start talking money until 6 months time at least - the accom. and the skippers are all happy with this. As for people who wish to come. Obviously it will be first come 1st served as last time, although most people who came this time have asked me to put them down again - we may still have a handful of places though. Adam

    Bass 'n' pirk

Very common method I believe around Lymington - Simply a set of feathers with a pirk or herring attached as a weight. Theory being that under the mackeral shoals will be bass lurking to hit the macky. Stick on a pirk - voila' - dying mackeral imitation, and bobs your uncle!
  19. Any news on the move Coddy??
  20. Unlucky or what!!....once you get to mid May - it goes crazy again! I have just recieved emails from Chris - to confirm the booking for next year, and am waiting for a reply back from the Armoury. Cant Wait!....best get saving!
  21. Women drivers, say no more!!!! The harbour on an ebbing tide, weekend, sunny about 5/6pm is not a plesent place to be really can be mayhem down there - not like 5am on a sat!! when everyone is still in bed - 25 knots all the way!
  22. Let me know - may join you if you dont mind? If you want to go alone however - fine by me.

Anything apart from what I had in my box! No, seriously, the harbour is very murky at that time of day anyway, the trout flies I had just looked like pieces of weed in the water, a sandeel imitation or a big streamer fly is whats needed - must make the investment next time.
