    Happy Birthday

Thank you guys. Not much news on the fishing front, been tied up in work for the last 3 weeks as staff went on holiday. Going wrecking next tues tho, time to try my birthday present-- accurate boss reel....
  2. I rang my usual skipper yesterday ans he said the bream are in but not in great number, they managed 17 the day before.
  3. I didn't know you can find them in the uk, they are very nice to eat (well if big enough). Over in the far east, the large one are more expensive than lobsters.
  4. Shame I have to work 2mrw..... Ivan is a top bloke, once saw him stayed out an extra hour so that one unlucky angler did eventually caught a bass...... unfortunately the same can't be said about his taste in music
  5. Whatever happened to that barramunda fishery in the new forest a few years back?
  6. 'pose we can go down the aussie route and introduce bag limit not only on the boat but also in your freezer at home, so say if you are allow 10 bass, you go and caught 10 yesterday, had 2 for tea, that leave 8 in the fridge. You go out again today, caught 5, you are over the limit i.e 8+5=13.
  7. How would an annual limit work? It's hard enough to do it by trip, do all skippers carry a log book with each angler's name and each of their catch log down?
  8. I would go with bag limit, but the technical bit will be what limit? For example pollock, they are saying it is a substanable fish, but is it really? I have talked to anglers who say the caught 8 pollocks last week, and the boat caught over 50 altogether. I rarely see anyone put back pollock. Even on here, we heard people go all the way to the wrecks and they would moan if they only catch one or 2 fish each. So is 7 too many or should it be 5, 4, 3, 2......?
  9. Sometimes it's difficult for the skippers to act as judge and jury. As one skipper said, he will never let anglers take undersized fish, and most of the time he will ask the angler to put back fish that are just over the limit, but if it was a bad day and angler wants to take home a table fish which is sizable, it is a delicate situation because afterall the angler paid his due and the fish is legal.
  10. When I was there yesterday, I noticed the price at Lymington marina is selling diesel at 1.10 1.07 1.05 depending how much you have. The volume discount is only for customer paying by cash, ch or debit cards, no discount on credit cards.

    Avet SX?

I used to buy lots of stuffs from the us, when the exchange rate was 1.8-2.0 and it was really worthwhile, plus you seem to get taxed less often than not. Somehow the tax office must have got wind of how much stuff was coming in untax, they became very strict with all the packets coming in was taxed more often than not. plus the exchange rate dropped, it just wasn't while the hazzle. However, if you know anyone going over there, it might be worthwhile to do it.

  14. I'm booked on a trip out on tue with steve porter fishing for blonde on the banks. Unfortunately I may not be able to go due to another commitment, so would anyone like a free trip out with steve? I've already send him the cq for the trip, so you only need baits. If you are interested pls reply here. I shall be able to confirm whether I can or cannot go by sunday. A small donation to the rnli would be nice.....
  15. The little avet has 5.0/5.2 to 1, the handle is long and comfortable to wind. I can pretty much out 'retrieve' most people on a charter boat with my sx. The only down side is that it has no line guide, so it will get some getting used to to lay the line on the reel.
  16. Opened and saved on my favourite with no probnlems with IE.
  17. Well done, I bet it was like sleeping in a walkin freezer.
  18. I've found this extremely offensive as I'm from the ethnic minority.... a chinaman if you must know. You are branding all gypsies as thieves and lying, cheating toerags. I have known many pikeys in my field (luckily not one they can park their caravans on), yes, they can't read, write or count, they fight alot, loud and unwashed and smell, but they work very hard to earn a living, they get up early every day thinking of new ways to get the unsuspected general public to part with their money, especially the elderly. Just think how could someone get a nearly new 40" lcd tv for a fraction of the selling price off the back of the lorry? I believe in treating them well and give them more benefits and each town/city must have a traveller site right next door to the council office........
  19. Yes, It's Lyle Stanford who's the skipper of Supanova (a small cat). He was 'caught' while skippering Pat Carling's Channel Chiefton a few years ago. I think the judgement hasn't been made yet.
  20. Very interesting especially the bit about lobsters. I sometimes buy l;obsters from Viviers in Portsmouth, and they have eggs on (well... under) them. And why can't we keep lobsters with is a notch cut or mutalited tail?
  21. Spoke to a chartered skipper today and he reckons there will be no anchoring in the zone, but they can't stop anyone passing thru it, ie drifting would be fine if a little hazardous.
  22. Who is going to police these 200 (or however many willmills there are) x 50m? Will there be a permenant patrol boat going up and down these things?
  23. surely there will be an exclusion zone around them. There are suppose to be exclusion zone around oil rigs, but these never stopped people going right up to them......
  24. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think PS2 post date Vista......
