When I did mine, it didn't help when Navman had a differnt name for the cables to the ones from Hummingbird . I email who I bought the units from and they send me a diagram for the installation where both names are shown.
  7. When I had my boat I used to choke up one of the wheel and take 3 out of 4 nuts off so that the trailer would ground to a halt if anyone try to steal it.
  8. Is there anyway we can find out more about theft of these things, i.e., how it was stolen-was cutting tools used to cut chain/cable-, any security devices used, what sort of time-daytime or small hours of the morning, whether the thieves were oppertunistic or very determine.
  9. It works on how much fuel you have to start with and the using info provided by the gauge, it sense how much fuel is being used and it works out exactly how much fiel is left and at what range it can do. So drifting use no fuel if engine is switch off, and it shouldn't bugger up the reading.
  10. Just to say if anyone has a Navman fishfider or gps/chartplotter, you can buy a fuel gauge which connects to the unit and it gives the same info as the fuel computer.
  11. looking at your group detail on the left, you're a club member.

we were fishing with the red wor hook and size 2 circle hooks yesterday and most fish -bar 2 fish- felt to the red wor hooks, ust be the colour, and yes the red coatig don't last very long.
  15. happy birthday billy.
  16. Sorry, trigger happy, now attached.
  17. First bream trip of the year on board Tomkat. Was a little apprenhensive when I got up, the trees were waving like a madman with an axe. Got down to Lymington and the wind was no better. Made it to the Ledge in one piece just a little wetter . With the last of the flood, first drop down I had a garfish, maybe it's a good omen, I can at least bag up on mackerals. 5 minutes laster, first bream was on board, not a monster but around 3 lbs, a healthy male. That was the sport we had in the 30 minutes before slack water. Over slack there was nothing showing except the wind pushed the boat all over the place, 3 of us lot about 8 leads so we just stopped fishing and had something to eat and a cuppa. As soon as the ebb starts we loaded our rigs and sent them down, with the help of ground baits regularly, we boated 19 breams, all male except 3, nothing smaller than 2 1/2, even the females, one was weighted in at 3 1/2 lb. The bigger fish of the day feel to my spinning rod with a fixed spool, took a while to get that in as it wasn't gonna to give up without a fight. I knew it was a big fish, first I thought it was a small bass cos it didn't shake like a bream, it took yards and yards of line before the obvious head shaking. In the net and on board it weighted dead on 5 lb, I was well chuffed . Tried allday, but not even one mackeral, did managed to get 2 more garfish tho. The sea was rough, and wind agaist tide in the morning wasn't nice, I was sick over the side , something I haven't done for a little while. Can't wait to get back out in 2 weeks time.
  18. Today's 5lb bream
  19. Well, at least it will get you to the fishing marks in no time .....

Stainless steve sells them, or Crayside marine (search in Boatand outboard) or our sponser Yarka anchor does a dog's bollocks anchor ring system.
  21. Happy Birthday to both of you, hope you all got what you wished for.
  22. Or you can use a lazy line. Fasten a length of rope no longer than the hull (so if it fall under it will not reach the prop) put a clip on the end, when arrive at the choosen mark guesstimate how much rope you need, tie a perfect loop (similar to a bowline but can be tied in the middle of a rope) clip the lazy line onto the loop and let the anchor down with the rest of the rope in a drum inside the boat. Only problem is that it can take up some space on the deck.
  23. nice fish PJ
  24. when i'm on a small boat i wear a life jacket but when i'm on a chartered i tend to be without one, maybe because no one else wears one it's too early to say what happened, maybe the old guy had an heart attack and is dead before he hit the water .....
