  1. Rich, The weather looks set fair for Friday mate. Plan of attack is firstly a bit of Plaice and maybe Turbot. Bank and mussel beds. Then reefing for Rays, Bullies, Conger etc. Then maybe Wrassing to finish mate. Dont forget it is a species hunt so size is not important( No matter what they say). I would suggest a light rod for the drifting( Do you have a multi tip?) and a medium rod for the reefing. Bait will be rag, lug, mackerel, squid, anything you like really. Will contact you nearer the day to finalise details mate. BB
  2. Enjoy Gazza, Tight lines. The BB,s
  3. Rich, How can you blank in Alderney? Hang a bit of mackerel over the side and the flatties will jump in the boat. No news on Friday yet mate. BB
  4. Rich, If the plaice are on a pound will not be enough, take 1 1/2. I used a spoon and beads. Phone me Sunday morning and I will sort parking. BB
  5. Hi Sam, Traces about 3-4 feet long, beads and allsorts for attractors, with a 1/0 pennel. Bait is worm tipped with a strip of squid. Can,t fish this weekend, got to work but good luck to those that are. BB
  6. Weather was great but huge tide made the drifts quite difficult to control. We had 14 Plaice to 3.5 lbs, 2 Dab, 3 Doggies and a whiting. I had 4 Plaice to 3 lb and a Dab 3/4 lb. Plaice are quite thin and would have gone 4 lb if fattened up later in the year. I am working next weekend but if you need any advice, bait, help etc then call me. Tight lines, BB
  7. Great wasn,t it Martin, Sort of place you want to spend a couple of hours sat watching the fish. Magnet looks and smells the dogs, cant wait to try it out. Cheers Trev, BB
  8. Yep, I am going out to try and bag a few spotties and a turbot or two ????? Forecast is good but big tides for Hands Off. See how it goes. Will let you all know the result. Tight lines, BB
  9. Yes please if you would Martin. Thank you BB
  10. Atlanta on Friday, 14 Plaice to 5lb 4oz and Turbot to 12lb. Sounds like a good day folks. BB
  11. Here we go then folks. This weekend is one of the biggest tides of the year, it will bring a lot of the spring species in with it. Plaice, Bream, Smoothies to name a few. As the water warms they will turn to breeding and start a feeding frenzy. Can,t wait for the Bream to kick off. When do they start up your end? What about smoothies? Early April here hopefully. Glen Milligan has some interesting observations in this months BFM about light tackle so I will be giving them a shot ready for the comp season. The coloured lead idea we used the end of last year and it does work, especially for Bream and Doggies. Also found some really tiny luminous floating beads so they are up for a test run. First impression of the new solid carbon boat rod, a bit light in the handle. It really creaked when put under strain. However, the proof will be in the boat. I have a deep hole trip begining of May so I will give one a run out and pass on my observations. They are very light though. Tight lines folks, All the best, BB
  12. Martin, What is the smallest size you can do in the fleece?
  13. Hope you take better care of your new boat mate. BB
  14. Yes please Wedger, I will have 20kg but would it be possible to put some in 1kg blocks as I use it on the piers for the Monday night kids comps. 5kg would be a lot for one night. Regards, BB. PS Do you have a mobile No. PM me with it.
  15. Sammy thanks you all for the best wishes. He was really excited when he seen his name on the posts. I have found a boat buddy for us so we can fish more comps this year. Regards, The BB,s
  16. Welcome fishfinger. Enjoy. The BB,s

    Bream 'ooks

Dead right Paul, not much good on a pennel and never strike. If pulled in a straight line they pop out without connecting. Streamer hooks from UK are good but I have reservations with stainless hooks. Red Vanadium Worm hooks from UK are very good and worth a go. Never had a problem T-barring circles, just pull the leader slightly farther around. Regards, BB
  18. Well done Sam, nice fish mate.
  19. Congrats on your birthday mate. The BB,s
  20. Grauvell Anaga Multi-Tip as my light rod with either 975 LD, Shimano TLD 5 or Bait Runner. Heavy rod is a Nemesis Plus tip converted to a boat rod ( About 20-30 lbs), excellent action, with TLD 10 or Penn 525.
  21. Great to get back on the briny after such a long layoff. Went to a couple of small wrecks today. Pollack to just over 12lb, Ling to 19lb, Pout, Doggies and a MACKEREL-in January would you believe. Anybody else go today, I know Sam said he was also going Wrecking, any luck buddy? Coddy, how did you do today? The weather was good this end wasn,t it mate? Hope the info helped. BB
  22. I wouild not be able to split wrasse and bream. Both types of fishing give me great pleasure.
  23. When is that Martin or is it a bit early to call?
  24. Here is a quandary for you all. I have just been in my shed to get ready for Sunday and realised the amount of tackle one collects over the years. If you had to choose just two sets (one for light and one for heavy) what would your choices be and why? Just imagine the space we would have.
  25. Our engagement??? Does that mean you are taking the plunge mate? Congrats to you both if you are, have a great do. BB
