  1. Hants and Dorset Signs and Plastics at Southbourne , will supply all grades of plastic. Apparently they do a special grade for boat windows that doesn't craze or go yellow. If you take in your old windows or a cardboard template they'll cut them to shape.
  2. I beleive the Longliner has a design speed of 7 knots.
  3. Mike I agree, I've never seen it stated in anything other than knots either, but not seeing the manufacturer's paper that he refers to, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Regardless of the units, even if it's 18 Yaks, it can't be a displacement hull, unless of course a Yak equates to 0.33knots!!! Over.
  4. I was just going by the fact that he stated the max design speed of the hull was 18kph, therefore it can't be a displacement hull. Think about it, kph must be kilometers per hour. Knot is a unit of speed in it's own right without "per hour". Therefore if the "k" in kph was knot, it would = Nautical miles per hour per hour. (which is acceleration, pretty poor acceleration at that).
  5. 18kph = 9.7 knots, must be a semi-displacement hull

  7. If it's any help, on Figment, I use a couple of 105Ah (car) batteries bought from Cribb tyres at Holton Heath, cost about
  8. The hole gets bigger, many engineering items are assembled by heating the ring (e.g. Starter Ring Gear onto a Flywheel). Think of it as, the circumferences, both inner and outer get bigger with heat and if the circumference is bigger the diameter has to be.

    Fuel

The fuel barge is "Poole Bay Fuels" on 07768 715111 or VHF channel 80. I can't help with the price of Unleaded, my engine needs Super Unleaded which they don't sell, so I don't use them. I have to carry it to the boat in Jerry cans.

    Warrior Boat Stolen

I was going to suggest keeping an eye on BoatandOutboards, but I see he's already got that one covered Warrior Stolen
  11. That seams a lot of oil to have come out of the breather! By the time you recover to the trailer, engine should be starting to cool, therefore even if the oil covered the breather there shouldn't be a positive pressure to push the oil out. I think you need to have a close look around the engine. A few obvious things to check: 1. Sump plug washer. 2. Sump bolts. 3. Oil filter. 4. Oil cooler.
  12. All you need now are a set of curtains, with tassles, and a nice palmet with a couple of coronation mugs on it!!!

    Vhf Stuff

Lots of sets won't transmit with Dual Watch selected. Both my sets (Icom and Huson) require the Dual Watch to be turned off first.

    Vhf Stuff

Mark Switch Dual Watch OFF before you try to transmit. Cheers. Brian

    Old Harrys Rock

I always understood it was Harry Paye, I think you'll find Payne is a typo. If you do a Google search for Harry Paye you'll find loads of references to the pirate.
  16. Steve Thanks for the info, especially the bit about some engines fouling the transom. He's talking about spending about
  17. Naaah Mike that won't work. Instead of blocking up your engine with salt crystals it will be pubic hairs! Could smell nice though, all that bubble bath.
  18. A question for the Warrior 165 owners. My fishing buddy is about to buy a boat, he's narrowed it down to Warrior 165 or Explorer Elite. There are several available second hand which are within his price range. Engine wise, the Mariner 60hp, 4 stroke appears to be the most popular. What engine would you prefer? There will generally be two of us fishing out of Poole. I'll still sell Figment, but the pressure's off.
  19. I see the picture of the two guys making canonball leads states "Safety Goggles removed for the picture". My question is, why would they remove them for the picture, it's not as though they're looking at the camera and smiling??? I think it's magazine speak for "Someones going to ask, why aren't they wearing safety goggles? We'd better pretend they normally do".

    Conversion

Unless I've missunderstood: 50 38.60N must be in Degrees, Minutes and Decimal of minutes. (can't have 60 seconds) Therefore to move it 0.04 minutes South, it becomes 50 38.56'N Likewise 01 55.57'W, moved 0.08 minutes East, becomes 01 55.49'W Or have I been doing it wrong all these years?

    Chicken Power

Kam Sorry if you've seen it before, (another slapped wrist for me)

    Chicken Power

A Bear, a Lion and a Chicken are sitting around talking. The Bear says, "When I growl all the animals in the forest are frightened." The Lion says, "When I roar all the animals in the desert are scared". The Chicken says, "That's nothing, if I cough every body in the country s#@

    Antifouling

Poole Harbour is fairly brackish due to all the underwater springs and the 4 rivers that flow into it. When I first launched my boat I used a cheap antifoul and kept it on a trot mooring at Rockley from June 2000 until Sept 2001 (15 months). When I took it out we had to scrape the fouling off with spades, then they got the tractor to push it all back into the water. I'd estimate there was approx 2 cwt of barnacles. The worst job was removing the small white bit the barnacles left behind. I learnt my leason the hard way, never again!! I now antifoul every year with International Interspeed on the hull, International Trilux for the outdrive and boot-topping.

    Sikaflex??

I would certainly screw it near the leading edge, because if it started to come away whilst you're motoring the water pressure would probably peal it off.
  25. What's your definition of a "time waster"? Is it someone who looks at it, decides it not what they want and don't buy? What's your web page address? I'd like to see the photo. I've just tried the link from your profile, but it doesn't work, appears to be a mixture of a web address and an email address.
