Looks like great "Fun" guys, better fish than we are getting at Poole. Impressed with the gear carried a GPS unit etc Charlie
-
Dan you sound like my lads too young to feel the cold.
-
What a great fish they can go well with those big fins Charlie
-
Craig it is 70 miles to the Island but with fishing on route and around the island its nearer 100 on first and last day Charlie

MES at Poole could look at it But it depends on the Part Ex costs, as these guys hourly rate is high, I would follow Jim's advice first if you can, contacts plugs are always a weak link. or hope that a Member with the knowledge would be able to help. Good luck Charlie

Hi Steve Most of us seem to use Bruce anchors [or the cheaper copies] you can get small ones and a 5KG would do the job and can be rigged to trip. As for the fishfinder most run off 12volts so a small car battery would suffice. Transducers usually come on a lead to a plug and with a bracket for the transducer. simple to fit and then run the lead through the boat to a good place to mount the Fishfinder where it is easily seen. I have seen people with a simple board fitted with the fishfinder on the supplied bracket, the whole thing is attached to a seat with a woodworking clamp. battery under the seat with wires connected with croc clips. Works fine and can all be removed for storage and battery charging, but you need some way of securing the battery when afloat. Charlie

Well done Andy You can always post a picture, then await the verdict Charlie

Nice one Dave I had better study my book as I have no idea what some of those Wrasse look like [ballions and Goldsinny] Just shows its not necessary to go out 20odd miles. Charlie

Happy Birthday Dom Have a good one Charlie

Always good to carry an Auxillary but if it is not going to let you down when you need it most it needs to be kept at 100% Infrequant use of any outboard, especially one with its own tank and stale fuel is not the best way to ensure it works when you need it. if the fuel gets old mix it in your main tanks or the car and put fresh in the auxillary tank. My advice use it occasionally on a tender or to slowly move the big boat when feathering, it will certainly help. Also carry spare plug, spanner and starter cord for the small enging, these tend to be the first things that go on small engines. Charlie

Hi Tom My only experiance was a day in the indian ocean, towing lures for about 8 hrs I lost a very big Wahoo and we landed a smaller fish. drank a lot of coke and tried not to get sunstroke, but no marlin. a Mate in NZ spent 7 grand sterling on a four day trip on the best charter boat in NZ, he landed a Marlin [est 200lb] but because of bad weather it was the only one landed and his only turn at the rod. I am afraid Wendy has many other uses for 7G, and I can think of better things to do for four days in 40 knot winds than sit in a cockpit trying to read a book. Charlie

"I so wish I could go back!!!!" I bet you do Tom and I am sure I am not the only one that would love to be able to come with you Just how tired must they be after that, and how do you ever settle for UK fishing again? Charlie

As usual with these messages the first advice is to join the Club Come to the meetings and get to know some of the Members. That will open up a mountain of knowledge and experiance to help you with all aspects of safe boating and fishing. we are a friendly crowd, behind the banter. The main message would be be cautious and stay safe, your boat only suits fishing outside the harbour in the very best of weather, and get in to a habit of always wearing a lifejacket. weather information I use several, wind guru, metcheck and recently the bournemouth surf report through magic seaweed. If I was you I would check them all and believe the worst. Some of us with lots of experiance and bigger craft will go out on a moderate forecast, do not be tempted to do the same. If you are not sure do not go. Tight lines Charlie

What with the 48 hr and the weymouth trip even I would be pushing the FPO if I mentioned alderney again. But if the weather is right maybe resisting would be hard. Charlie

Thats good news Terry Now all you need is some better weather Charlie

The fundamental difference One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he asked about his bill and the barber replies, cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber goes to open his shop the next morning there is a ' thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door. Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The cop is happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber goes to open up there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door. Later that day, a college professor comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you; I'm doing community service this week.' The professor is very happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber opens his shop, there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen different books, such as 'How to Improve Your Business' and 'Becoming More Successful.' Then, a Member of Parliament comes in for a haircut and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Member of Parliament is very happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber goes to open up, there are a dozen Members of Parliament lined up waiting for a free haircut. And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the Members of Parliament. Vote very carefully next year.

Well done Dan and all 40 of the other Members who took part 4 specimen fish, a record turnout and two ladies in the top ten, what a great "Club event" Charlie
-
Great result mate, well done to you both. I see we both got stuffed by the boys I know you work hard at all the preperation and planning and good to see it all paying off. I also know that you only kept a couple each for the weigh in, so an awful lot of fish went back to breed. Charlie
