I forgot to say I am working in the morning, if you are on the boat call me or better still pop her into PYC haven and say hello. I am sure the manager will find you a space and he may even buy you both a coffee to wash down all that bubbly. well done both. Cheers Charlie

Wow guys she looks great, and a nice name that I almost let out of the bag a week ago, needed a rapid edit. I will no doubt take a stroll over tomorrow to see Dan and have a look when is the maiden fishing trip? We are out Tue and wed if you want a fly by photo or two give us a call. I hope you have as much fun with her as we do with Alfresco. see you afloat soon. Charlie

Hi Dave The best way is to have the two tanks with valves fitted at the tank so that the levelling/drain line can be closed As Rob says this would allow you to isolate a tank in case of a contamination or leak. However what you need to establish is where your supply and spill return are connected. and if they can be directed to ether tank. A diesel takes a supply from the tank, uses some of it to power the engine and some to lubricate and cool fuel pumps etc, this second portion then returns [More than most people think] to the tank. With a permenently open balance line no problem. Closing the balance line, not much of a problem, reduces fuel available by half all fuel used from one side so boat lists. Close the balance line suck from 1 side and return to the other Big Problem. empties one tank much faster than you think while returning to the other tank and overflowing overboard. We had this situation with a large motor sailor at work. very light winds so he fueled tanks to Full in Dartmouth, then set off motoring to Pool, supply from stbd, return to Port tank. balance line had been closed. Boat engine stopped at St albans race in very bad seas, lifeboat called and towed to Swanage, a long slow tow in the dark. 2 days later a fishing boat towed boat back to PYC marina.[

Hi Dom We fished the island a week or two back and the fish action [mostly small] was constant. we did get cod and ray but the dogs and pout meant we used loads of bait and stayed very busy. a week later we fished straight out from poole, we had a bigger ray and a few whiting and dogs but the rods were much much quieter. It all depends how busy you want your day to be . Hope that helps Charlie

Hi Guys Sorry I had not replied earlier, just got in from another Christmas get together. Thats sorted then Rob, Charlie A, Tom and I will have a go on Tuesday. The forecast is good so we should get to the island or somewhere simular, there is a bit of fog forecast so lets hope that is not too bad. I will PM or phone with timings, but it should be a reasonable start time to return at last light [basicaly daylight hours] fishing for cod/rays/eels [plus whiting etc on lighter gear] Not sure how you get fishing permission so soon after the little one arrived Rob. And its not summer out there yet Tom. I am really looking forward to it, I am sure we can give it a good go and it will be nice to fish together at last. Charlie

Hi all The weather appears to be settled for a bit after the weekend Gordon is joining the boys and I on Christmas eve for a spot of congering. I was hoping to get out during the day on tuesday for another go at the cod. Dan is working and Sam has booked a hangover following a Christmas party, so I have space available Call or PM Charlie

Well done guys Nice to see you yesterday afternoon I hope you are right about next tuesday Alun Good picture, Thats a hell of a lot of gulls Charlie

Hi Tom We would not like to get in the way of her Maiden launch, they may just wish to slip her in quietly Charlie

Hi I have never fished from an Aquafish, but have spent many pleasant days with Humphrey on his Hardy 24 His has a Volvo 150, but still performs well and is an excellent fishing platform wether at anchor or on the drift. She is well capable of fishing mid channel and easily fishes 4 with two rods apiece. I ought to say his boat is the slightly older version with the shorter wheelhouse. a newer one with the longer wheelhouse would cut down deck space a lot. Charlie

What a cracking fish and a great reminder of how nice the weather was that day. A bit differant to last sunday eh Paul lets hope we get some of that calm sunny weather over Christmas Charlie
-
Hi Alun and Dan Well done for getting out, I had thought that the fog we had this morning must have been to widespread for anyone to get a trip. The tides and weed down at the island is why we stayed away at the weekend, and even nearer Poole it was hard to keep the anchor in. I am glad Dan is well enough to crew. and you got a few nice whiting. Charlie
-
Well done guys, it sounds like you got your share It looks a lot calmer where you were, but I bet it was just as cold Charlie
-
Well done Alun A worhy winner amongst a nice stamp of fish to the weigh in, and another trophy to collect at the Dinner and Dance. As you say it was a bit quiet outside in much more wind and freezing fog than anticipated. I expect we will see you out there over the Christmas break Charlie
-
Great news guys we look forward to seeing you afloat. I hope you are as pleased with her as we are with Alfresco. Very tight lines Charlie Sam and Dan

Hi Mark It generally seems to be accepted as the 60/40 split. But at work, some small motor boats without heating, radar, much nav equipment etc are declaring 80/20 and some even 100% propulsion. Because of bulk buying and pre filling prior to Nov 1st and the time of year I have not filled the tank at work since october. so I am using prices from before they dropped a lot. Heating etc [40%] is 70p Propulsion [60%] is

Can I bring the Mono and watch you break it??? 300lb ?? But seriously it would be interesting in say 60 lb and 40 lb mono. Charlie
-
Ouch Just added fuel for the first time since the rules changed even at the 40/60 split, it hurt a bit more than before Thank goodness that the price per ltr has reduced since mid summer. It would now be good, without the extra 43p per ltr revenue on the propulsion part. A big thanks to those that fish with us for helping towards these fuel costs. At least she is fueled ready for those Cod hunting days. Charlie

Hi Dom Please pass our good wishes for a rapid recovery to Dan when you see him. We hope that he is soon well enough to enjoy the season and some fishing. Charlie Dan and Sam

DEEPLY PROFOUND THOUGHTS BY MEN WHILE FISHING Two men are out boat fishing at their favourite fishing spot, just fishing quietly and drinking beer. Almost silently, so as not to scare the fish, Bob says, 'I think I'm gonna divorce my wife. She hasn't spoken to me in over 2 months.' Earl continues slowly sipping his beer, then thoughtfully says, 'You better think it over, Bob. Women like that are hard to find.'

I think we are away at the weekend, but to aid numbers I called Gary to remind him its this weekend. He does not use the forum but does like to flounder fish. Tight lines Charlie
