  1. Hi Adam I am the same as Simon, if I work at weekends its usually Sat. But this weekend the Clubs busiest dinghy sailing week starts on Sunday and I will be at work all day So this time the best day is Sat and we will be trying to get a bass or two. Unfortunatly Gary can not join us, so its me and the boys, the french bass bit was a joke but as we have not been out for a while we may be tempted to deeper water and possibly a rusty bit. Tight lines all Charlie
  2. Hi Tom I did get the point and although rushed at work was trying to agree. I was also pleased to read that pete was letting others know what he found inside these reels. I have only been lucky enough to try proper big game fishing a couple of times with little success. I don't think any of my tackle would stand up to that style of fishing on more than the odd occasion. While 60lb congers and 45lb tope can be landed on uptiders and light boat gear I would not recomend them as the best kit to catch them on regularly, especially to newer anglers. That said I personally would rather catch them on that gear than my 50lb all roller rod and 6/0 reels. Kit that is now kept for very serious deep water angling and the odd try at Sharking. Charlie,
  3. Alfresco should also be playing, do french bass count? Both boys as crew and if Gary has no crew he may jump on for the day as a guest exact numbers TBC but put us on the list Charlie
  4. Nice report Pete especially good of you to relay your obvious dissapointment with the internals of the reel. For not much more
  5. I hope the customs are good to you on your return and do not get the tip off about the need for rubber gloves Charlie
  6. After looking at the earllier pictures I thought you would be pleased with her speed when relaunched, I expect you will also be happy with her fuel consumption. Lets hope that the weather clears up so we can get fishing again Charlie
  7. Sounds like you made the most of the weather guys well done seems much better than watching the Olympics Charlie

    Anti-foul

Tomo I had international interspeed on the hull and trilux on the leg the boat came out recently and the hull was much cleaner than the leg, but that could be effected by the leg catching more UV light and being in the warmer surface water. Not sure what to advise for reduced salinity areas, but have you also considered what anodes to fit, I believe there are different ones for fresh and salt water. Charlie
  9. Hi Mike That also seems to be the thing here, a lot of boat owners moaning about the cost of fuel. When we were in the solent it was 80p ltr, but it may have dropped a bit now. It has stopped our larger boats popping across to France for lunch, but has not stopped them going for longer periods. We would have gone over on Holiday on Alfresco had the weather been better. Generally boating and all other forms of transport are getting dearer, you may finish up as the only Club boat fishing the schole bank before too long. Cheers Charlie
  10. Nice report Mike You did well to get away many of the cruisers here are suffering from harbour rash Nice to chat on the VHF on your return, we had hoped to cross channel last month but the weather stopped that Tight lines Charlie
  11. If weather allows I will be out also with both sons I have a space if anyone needs a ride Charlie
  12. Tony I can understand your dissapointment that the comp has been cancelled, believe me you are not the only one. I have been on previous open competition sub Committee's and the Club Committee. I know that the Committee will not have made the decision lightly. Our current Committee volunteer to hold their posts and work hard for all of us Members. If more Members had stepped up to join the Sub Committee, the Club would not have had to make that decision. The decision was made by the Members that were at last weeks meeting and then passed on as soon as possible afterwards. I am sure you have reasons why you do not want to join the Club, but please be aware that remaining as a Forum Member excludes you from any decision making. Charlie
  13. No problem with commitment Peter, I have a few Members very keen to get out and have a go Its just getting some predictable weather and an oportunity Charlie
  14. Not many flats around But for the kids plenty of fish to keep rods busy on areas like Poole patch, Small bream wrasse pout mackeral garfish and the odd bigger specimen. If the weather is poor fish the harbour by Brownsea castle should also keep the rods nodding. Tight lines Charlie
  15. Smallish tides next week will give you plenty of options and severfal should be close to Swanage so you may know them already we probably need to know what type of fishing you want to target before any advice can be given, Charlie
  16. Hi Tom Nice report mate, what a day you had even in its hayday Looe would not have matched that for numbers. We had simular numbers on the Tope at Alderney in May, the fish were less than half that size but the sport amazing, so I know you must have really enjoyed it. As for getting into a shoping trolley to take photo's are you mad, I don't think even my lads would do that Nice pictures though. I hear there are some beasts around here, when can we get Alfresco and Quest 2 out after them?? Crew should be no problem, any other boats fancy it ? ? Charlie

    Anti-foul

Looking good Dave I have just done mine as all the fouling on the leg was slowing her down This time I have given the leg 3 coats to allow for some cleaning. Charlie
  18. I got mine in the paperwork when I had my RNLI sea safety check done I am sure you can get one from the RNLI. It is a stick on paper one. The one I had on Great White was washable vynyl, so if anyone can source those, I would also be interested Charlie

    Anti-foul

That may have slowed her down a tad mate It looks like she was probably pressure cleaned before launching and all the toxins washed out of the old antifouling. I bet you will not believe the differance when she goes back in, what antifouling are you going to use? Charlie
  20. Thanks Paul I have the matting Glad the bait pump is running OK and hope that you get out soon to try it out Charlie
  21. Welcome CharlieJ Join in and enjoy CharlieC
  22. Poole Harbour Commisioners are the people who collect all the Harbour dues and employ the lad in the Hut So are really the people to take your gripe up with, but I am sure the Club could try and add some weight to it. Good luck Charlie
  23. Paul You are right the Bilge pump switch positive should be on a permenant live run, ether direct from the battery or from the terminal on the isolator switch that is permenant live. Call me if I can help Charlie
  24. Such a shame something better can not be provided As you say there is plenty of demand, but unfortunatly building slips is not only expensive but also very difficult to get araound the do gooders to get permission. Digging up mudlands to put in slips for fuel burning and polution causing boats is hard to get past English nature and other tree huggers. Charlie
