  1. How it was in the day, great picture of Dean and his fish
  2. Thanks Alan, I was going to post that having checked that they are happy for me to put it on here, which they are
  3. Sadly not by us. That is where Alfresco was yesterday, complete with all of Dave's tuna kit and our new outriggers. Post and pictures soon.
  4. Well done guys, like Steve I have not done an all nighter in years. Mainly due to my crew not being up for it. Lol But your success may get me to give it a another go
  5. Happy Birthday Nige
  6. Done Not convinced it will do any more good than the current MCZ's. with no restrictions of any kind. Or any commercial size limits. IMHO they are a total waste of effort. [And yes I did add that to my feedback] We are left to our own voluntary measures. Ie Number of fish retained, being a low percentage of catch. The way we treat and handle the fish, this is very good. Non targeting of pregnant females. Although the current restrictions on Bass fishing have taken a while to get used too, most of us can recognise that they are having a good impact on our catch rates.
  7. Thanks Mate 😄 👍
  8. Thanks Neil If I was going Charter fishing I would definitely be going West. Steve Porter has already topped 100 to his boat in just 16 trips this season. Dave and I are trying hard to catch our own on Alfresco, in an area with so far, very few fish.
  9. Hi Neil Good to read you are about again. Sounds like a good trip nearer to home. Sorry to hear that your BFT trips did not work out, maybe you ought to try again, the charters are doing really well down West. So far we have tried three times and all blanks. Regards Charlie
  10. Great write up Chris, looks like you all had fun [Maybe not Tim] Don't you love it when a plan comes together. Well done on a full string of keepers.
  11. Nice to be able to help you out with the tides mate. Lol Even better to see you out there having fun in the sunshine, Thanks for the call to come over, but without the fresh bait we did not share your success with the tope. Sorry to hear about J2's rod The pictures came over through WhatsApp I will add them below Nice Bass And the Tope look like great sport I am not sure who had hold of who here Best regards Charlie
  12. Great write up Mal. Good to see that there are fish about, we had a quieter time. But still enjoyable
  13. Sounds great for a bird watcher like you Mal.
  14. Nice one Rob well done.
  15. We had a very long Day Towed a full spread of lures up and down the waves, all the way from Durlston to the west end of the shambles, then an alternative route back to the spoils. Nil fish to report Although a pack of Dolphins breaking surface did get us excited for a bit.
  16. Alfresco will be out with Dave and Mick crewing
  17. Happy birthday lofty Hope the weather and fishing are both good.
  18. We discussed this a bit at the August Club meeting. This is some of the information that was passed to me, when I was lucky enough to be one of the 91 successful applicants for a licence/permit. I am so pleased that they have now made the information available. Including the code of practice. If anyone is interested in this fishery, I would suggest having a good look at that. I have printed it all out and have hard copies onboard. Its a big commitment in time and effort for all concerned. A lot of people deserve credit for getting it this far, very well done to all of them. Lets hope for a good season, with lots more people getting to try this out and a very small mortality rate. That way it will expand in the future. Charlie
  19. Hope the commercial gets dealt with harshly. But I doubt it
  20. I will try to do these in order Fish on Hang on Dave An idea of the tackle being used, to look after the fish's welfare and keep the fight short. Colour, Wow a thresher!! It buggers off again Great fish , well done mate Well deserved reward Nice fish.
  21. I suppose that someone, better be me mate. Especially now you have exhausted your typing finger.🤣 I will get them up ASAP Well done on persisting with this project and catching such a great fish. Sorry I was not onboard watching all the fun. In case anyone is wondering, I sent the details of the fish and some pictures to a very keen and experienced Shark angler that I met on my recent BFT training course. He estimated the weight at 200-225lb and Dave has taken the lower one. The fish was well looked after and swam off strong and fast. I cannot ever remember one being recorded on a Members boat so it should be a Club record. Many years ago it was agreed to take measurement for sharks not weights, for the sake of fish and anglers alike. Well done Dave, Mark and Mick.
  22. Sorry to see that you are selling up Brian. Those boats have a well earned excellent reputation. She is in excellent order and very well kitted out. I am sure that someone will snap her up. Charlie
  23. I had not realised that the comp was off until chatting to friends at the BBQ. We had bait on order and a great forecast so decided to fish anyway. Pressure was off so we intended to have a look at a few usual spots. Started well with a few nice plaice close to the beach Plus some tiny bream and smoothies. Moving out to the patch. Landed bream, ballen wrasse and even a small undulate on the light gear. Another move to another spot found some better bream and another wrasse species. Lovely day enjoying the fishing and warm 🌞 Shame that the comp was off. But at least that stopped us having to chase small congers and dogfish. Lol
  24. Will talk to Wendy to see if she fancies a go on Sunday, Put Alfresco down anyway date to follow.
